What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are releasing into early access because we want to make the best game possible. We feel this means involving the community in the design process as we rework and iterate on our current and new features. We think we have a great "base" of a game and want to evolve that into something folks will really enjoy playing.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The goal is to be in Early Access for 3 to 6 months depending on community involvement.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan on adding more content such as new player ships and enemies, and improving/expanding the existing progression systems like items and ship upgrades. We also look forward to working with the community to develop new features/content based on feedback during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Our game is "large" feature complete. This means that all the basic game play pieces are in the game; you have ships you can choose to pilot, there are enemies to blow up, and you get items to upgrade your ship.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are not planning on changing the price between Early Access and Release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're looking for help refining the combat by tuning the controls and balance. Feedback on the progression system, and ways to improve it. Lastly we want direct feedback on ways you'd like to see the game expanded, content ideas and direction for inclusion in Release or Post Release content.”

Update 1.7.1

A new ship to unlock!

We've added the Tyr ship. It leverages the damaging power of electricity to destroy its enemies but you'll need to get up close and personal. You can unlock it by scoring 80k points with the Surt ship.

While you're taking the new ship out for some electrifying flying don't miss some environment improvements with fancy asteroids, planets and nebulas.

  • Finished all 3D item icons.
  • Improved the environment with better asteroids, planets and nebulas.
  • Other bug fixes.

Update 1.7.0

BREAKING CHANGE! High scores and current in progress games will be lost.

Get an education!

In this update we've added an education based progression system and leaderboards. The education gives you specific stat bonuses (like increasing your primary damage) but they have a cost you have to pay back. You pay it back with the Space Bucks (formerly Upgrade Units) you get from melting down items you don't want. You will have to decide between upgrading items with Space Bucks or paying down your debt. After the first system (5 waves) your debt will earn interest. To win you need to pay off the entire debt from the education you chose.

If you are able to pay off your education debt then you can use that ship, it's equipped items, and the associated education bonuses to attempt a high score on the leaderboards. Here you have no inventory, no items are dropped and there is no pause between waves of enemies. You also can't resume a score game by exiting to the main menu.

Other big changes:
  • Previous high score entries will be lost.
  • Fixed all currently reported crashes.
  • Several balancing changes for items.
  • Nerfed the Skadi ships offensive ability.

“It's a very very fun, top down, 2d, diablo style, procedurally generated, rogue like, almost, kind of, shooter. Wow, I, so many, this game has so many genre's, I love it. Void Vikings, gentlemen, go check it out.”

About This Game

Pick your ship and pile on the student loans for an education that will best compliment you and your ships abilities. Be wary you don't take on too much or death could find you before you're able to pay it off. Blast your way through waves of enemies to collect items to outfit your ship and Space Bucks for upgrades. Choose systems to warp to based on their difficulty and interest rates to maximize how you're able to enhance your ship and pay off your debt. If you survive long enough to destroy your loans as you've destroyed your enemies you can take your well educated and battle tested ship into Valhalla to attempt a high score for the leaderboards.

  • 2.5D, top down, fast paced, action packed roguelike space shooter.
  • Four unique ships with their own special abilities.
  • Go into debt for an education (choose University, Major, Minor and Electives) to boost your abilities.
  • Pay off your education with Space Bucks you get from destroyed enemies or melted items.
  • Use items to increase your fighting power, melt them down for item upgrades or debt payments.
  • Procedurally generated items, star systems and enemy fleets make each attempt unique.
  • Paid off education and ship combinations saved for endless high score attempts on Steam Leaderboards.
