A really cute and nice game with a lots of fun and challange. I would recommend this game for everyone, who likes challanges, who isn't afraid of going for a level over and over again to beat his/her best time, or for even beat that ****ing level finally. I won't say it will be an easy game, sometimes you might want to kill every person involved in the making of this game, BUT it is a game what really worth to pick up.

Whats good in the game:
  • Challanging levels
  • Puzzle levels
  • Great enviroment and good looking levels
  • Several hours of gameplay
  • You can play the levels over and over again and it still not boring
  • Cute potato shaped bees
  • Some secret to discover
  • etc.

If you like indie games, or platform games, or want to rest from the other games, this is a good choice.
And with the developer daily streams well... almost daily everyone could feel they were part of the game making.

After this project the dev will probably have a lots of other project, so if you free definitely check that one out too!

10/10 would have this game again!

Recursion Deluxe is an incredible, yet very challenging, game.
I was drawn to this game immediately from a livestream I was watching on Twitch that had the gamedev as a guest, highlighting the game in a Groupees bundle. So, immediately I pre-purchased the bundle so I could have this game once it released ^_^
I've been following the game ever since, and was happy to watch the game progress. When the key was finally released through Groupees, just as I expected, I loved the game and the challenges it gives. The levels are so adorable, I absolutely love the artstyle and characters. There's quite a bit of trial and error to be had here. You will find yourself raging on some levels, and using the insta-kill control will become handy when you find yourself unable to finish a puzzle because you took the wrong path when doing the puzzles out of order, etc. (I actually didn't know about that control until I noticed the gamedev using it from his live streams).
This game is completely puzzle-driven, and there is not much story elements to it (given I have finished all but 3-4 levels on the last world so I have not completely finished the game), but that does not reflect any negative feelings towards how incredibly well this game is designed and the great variety of puzzles it offers. If you like a challenge that doesn't hand-hold you throughout the game, this is definitely worth picking up.

There is also more to RDX than meets the eye. There are the standard levels to play, but you can also create your own levels with a level creator. Once you launch the game, if you're on the latest version, you will be prompted with the option to create levels. Unfortunately, I have yet to mess around with it but once the community begins creating their own levels, this game will have an incredible amount of replayability.

I've heard about plans the gamedev has to expand the game as well in the future, so I will continue to follow the game and can't wait to see what's in store for this game in the future, as I would be thrilled with more content!

On a completely different note, I am fairly new to PC gaming, so I wanted to use a controller to play this game. I only have an Xbox ONE controller however, so I did face some issues using it with this game. After reporting it to the gamedev, and having them look into the issue, it is definitely not an issue with this game.

If you have an issue using your Xbox One controller with RDX, I will leave the guide here that fixed the issues for me (that the gamedev kindly forwarded to me to help resolve the issues). I hope it can help others who face similar issues.

Recursion Deluxe is a quaint little 8-bit puzzle platformer. Gradually ramping up in difficulty over the course of 60 mind-bending levels (that I'm aware of at the time of this writing), the game utilizes gravity switching, reminiscent of parts of LIMBO, and other physics based game mechanics, to allow you to solve puzzles and reach the level exit. Along the way you'll try to avoid hungry zombies and angry bees (NOT THE BEES!), but clever players can not only avoid them, but dispatch them for good, making it much easier to finish the level. Recursion Deluxe should scratch your retro and masochistic itches in equal measure. RECOMMENDED!

This game was absolutely amazing. I played this game for my Dev Support Saturday stream on Twitch, not knowing at all what to expect. Generally, I give these games 45 minutes tops, and then move on to the next game. Well, 45 minutes turned into 4 hours, and that turned into a beaten game, as I absolutely loved this game from start to finish.

The music is great, the level design is great, the platforming is great. And there's a ton of replayability. It's turned into honestly one of my favorite games in this genre, and that's saying quite a lot.

I give this 10 Llama Stars out of 9. Yep, out of 9.

A Platformer / Puzzle Game
+ Great retro art style / graphics
+ Nice chiptune sountrack
+ Level's are short (which I found great for puzzle game like this) They get longer later on
+ The difficulty curve is low, typically in games like this they get way too hard too quickly but this game seems to gradually get harder but slowly so you can relax and enjoy the game

- The mechanics are pretty basic, you just move and jump
- From what I can tell, you can't use the Xbox One controller with this game Dev Response
- You can't kill enemies early on (I feel like it would have been a bit more enjoyable if you could jump on their heads to kill them) You can kill them later in the game

There are mechanics in the game later on where you have to kill the enemies, but we felt like having the enemies killable by jumping on them would be too limiting design wise with the single screen level size. I do think different enemy types might have been a good idea since everyone tries to jump on the zombees when they first encounter them.

The game does get harder later on and the level length continues to grow, the first world definitely feels very short in comparison to the rest of the game.

We will be fixing the xbox one controller issue shortly, we believe it has to do with an odd deadzone with that controller on windows 10.

You have me on the basic mechanics though, if you want a game with shooting or wall jumping, that's not this game. We were going more for a puzzle style and wanted to focus on that =)

A charming puzzle platformer with an emphasis on puzzles, timing and precision.

There's nothing particularly new at work here, though most of the levels are well crafted and unique feeling. The main gimmicks are the non-euclidean geometry and gravity reversal, with plenty of switches, keys and obstacles to make for interesting puzzle solving and platform jumping. It definitely feels like a game I've played before, and yet it kept my attention from beginning to end.

The game is quite short, but for the price seems about right. The difficulty curve is slow and steady, with most of the game feeling a bit on the easy side, though I do consider myself well-traveled in this genre. Most of the challenge comes from collecting the game's completely optional stars, and dying has no penalty.

Recommended to puzzle fans, platforming fans, and retro game fans alike.

I Backed this game from the very beginning, believe me when I say that this game will bring back your childhood memories of playing mario & similar platformers. With a modern twist of beautiful particle effects, this game is well worth the £3

This game is simply a treat to play. Game mechanics that WORK. Plenty of puzzles and difficulty that is just enough to be fun, and not annoying. 5/5 will definitely be replaying this one.

A very nice precision platformer game. A nice difficulty cure, although the last level is very, very tough. But at no point did I feel like the difficult was unfair. The jumps can be tough, but always are fair.

I won this game in a stream giveaway and I've played the game for awhile and it's quite fun. You might not become addicted to it but it's a very entertaining game and the puzzels get you thinking a bit at times.
Also did I mention the game has faces on the rocks and clouds? I think that's enough reason already to play the game.

Lovely game that really brought back to me the fun of playing a great 2d platofrmer in the 90s. I have often found it hard to really get into a game in recent years but with Recursion Deluxe time just slipped by as I needed 'One more go!' to beat a level!

The levels are all interesting, unique and short enough that it never feels like a chore to re-play it over and over until you get it right. It was a good length game for the price but now I am thirsty for more levels!! Would definetely pay for an expansion pack.

Overall: Highly reccomended puzzle platformer that feels good to play and has a fun wrap around screen mechanic!

Recursion Deluxe is a super fun puzzle platformer. Its simple but clean design only adds to the charm of the game, and it has a joyous soundtrack that keeps you in high spirits even after you die from that darn bee AGAIN.

It's a great game to play, especially when you're a busy worker and only have time for a short break. This is your game.
