Infinitrap 1.0 is now live!

This new version fixes a lot of issues, especially regarding the core mechanics and gameplay in general. I tried to create a better experience, making the game less frustrating (especially in regard of gamepads) but still keeping it very hard.

I also introduced a new speed slider that allow you to play the game a 200% speed. I challenge you to complete the game at the max speed, this is a whole new adventure.

Have fun!

Here is the full list of changes:
  • Added a different button for sliding, this will fix most of the annoying situations where you want to crouch but end up sliding into a lava pit.
  • Removed the screaming sound when Ohio Jack falled from ceiling. It was very annoying to hear it again and again.
  • Increased the precision of the gamepad deadzone.
  • A speed slider with a default value of 150% (the proper speed to play the game).
  • Fixed various shadow heights (especially projectiles).
  • Projectiles now telegraph a little bit before getting out.
  • Added parallax and scaling effects to lava balls, to make them easier to understand.
  • Fixed projectiles hitboxes.
  • Fixed falling cup going through the walls.
  • Fixed jumping on a fence killing you.
  • Fixed some minor bugs in the editor.
  • Fixed some minor bugs in the game.

Hi everyone, the new version fix few minor issues with the game and also introduce Workshop support.

Now, you can fire up the level editor and upload your hardcore levels to Workshop.

All subscribed levels from Workshop will get downloaded on game startup and will be displayed in the "Custom Levels" section of the game.

Note: A documentation about the Level Editor is on the way.

This is a hard review. I find the game overpriced, but won't mind the price, since I got it in a bundle.
The game is short, but well made.
It took me around an hour to find the patterns and finish it. The game is hardcore and may be for some people frustrating, since the difficulty comes close to old NES games.
Anyways it offers a nice variation of enemies and features a level editor.
The quality of this game is higher than most platformer you meet on Steam.
I recommend to buy this game on a good sale (except if more content is going to be released).

P.S.: This game was developed by only one guy but the game+engine are enjoyable.

If you consider that this product is the debut project, which is basically made by one developer, in my opinion InfiniTrap: Ohio Jack and The Cup Of Eternity can be assessed as a relatively nice game.

It's a challenging top-down platformer with a pinch of puzzles in retro style. The controls are a little bit annoying but, for example, I think that this "slippery" edges of the ground are intentional (we're used to jump during our walking or running and here we often have to jump first and then we should give a trajectory).

Despite the fact that achievements have been bugged on release day, the creator fixed it very quickly. I’m really into the design and I’m keen on the idea of some features, although it is clear at first glance that this is not an extensive game, even as for an indie title. Well, I've marked that I recommend it but if you don't intend to simply support the developer, you should wait until the price will be reduced by 75-90%.

Cool quick highly addictive game. The goal is to catch the Cup of Infinity, which seems to be a blatant reminder of the Graal in Indiana Jones. The game brings a touch of nostalgia, which is fun compared to overly complicated console games.

The good: if you want to turn your brain off and unwind, this one's for you.
The bad: some of the dialogs need to be tweaked.
The great: reminds me of the 80's games, but with a touch of modernity.

Score: 4.2 / 5

Not so bad, but still its amateur design shows in crude animations, lame sounds and floaty controls. I like the lighting effects and humour, but with these rock-hard level tasks it frustrates me too soon. Every maze consists of several deathtraps which you can avoid by jumping or crouching. You have to reach the (illusional) Cup to fall down into the next level and probably get the real Cup at some point. Did I mention the timer? Yes, you have to keep up a good pace too..

Note: This game was given to me in exchange for providing a picture of a furry dinosaur. Said dinosaur can be found here

This game is both infinitely frustrating, yet fun in a challenging way. While it is not necessarily a kid friendly game as the dev suggests, I think little tykes may like some levels. I got frustrated at quite a few levels and almost stopped playing, but I decided to trudge on with it. I'm glad I did because this is a wonderful little indie game with a supportive and caring dev. Please don't make me eat those words though! I'll get around to finishing it once I clear out some other games on my list. Definitely will be on my need to finish list.

  • Challenging game. while it does frustrate me quite a bit, I enjoy sitting bit with my controller.

  • Heartfelt story in the beginning about the Dev and his son.

  • Game Adjusts well to both keyboard and gamepad- I use a Logitech F310, and have no problems.

  • Kid friendly options but I would NOT recommend this for kids. More in my cons section on this.

  • Seemingly generic story at first, but throws a little twist that made me have a chuckle.

  • In the beginning the dev recommends options to turn off for kids. I would NOT recommend this for kids- I got frustrated quite a bit. This doesn't make it a bad games by any means, I quite enjoyed it still.

  • As many other's have stated, this is over priced. I would put this at $2.50, and drop it to a $1-1.50 during steam sales. Sure it has 30 odd levels, but some of them got old pretty quickly, or repeptitive.

  • The zombies and traps are quite frustrating- I feel like I should be able to be able to run away from the zombies quicker rather than stand there like a derp. I also wish I could just over some of the traps such as the mini flamethrowers.

For a game made by (presumably) one person, this is a really fun little game.

-Really nice and tight controls, every death is your own fault
-Nice sound track, wouldn't buy it, but good none the less
-And how could I forget the AMAZING graphics made by one man, really nice how its a mix of 2D and 3D, very well implemented

-Sound effects arn't that great, and your gonna hear them alot
-Story is forget-able, started skiping the diolouge after the first couple levels
-The Zombies, for a game like this, dying to RNG is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t. As far as I can tell the zombie's movement is random and not scripted. Correct me if im wrong
-Kinda short, but expected for the price of 4$

In short, if you like games along the way of Super Meat Boy, its a great indie game!

I did recive my copy of the game free in a giveaway from the dev himself. This in no way reflected my review but take away from it what you will

* Retro style
* 8bit graphics

Only con i could notice was the sound effects. Could use probalby a little improvment.

Overall: Great game and knowing it was developed by just one person gives me hope, that in the future we will see some exciting games comming to steam!

Pretty short, achievements are broken at the time of writing, a lot of cheap deaths, touchy jumping off edges, and beating levels isn't really all that satisfying.

On the plus side, I do like the 2.5D level art, thought it looked nice.

It's a pretty interesting top down platformer. The game is pretty short, but it's generally well-made and polished. The game looks nice, but I personally don't like the sound design.

Disclaimer - I was given a review copy of this game by the developers.

I can not recommemnd this game. The controls are pretty bad and the level design is just frustrating. Not frutstrating in a Super Meat Boy kind of way just frustrsating in general. Dive and duck should not be mapped to the same button. I dove into acid pools and arrows so many times because my character dove when I wanted him to duck. I got to the level with the saw blades and gave up. Also it's just bad design to have a text box obscure your view. I died many times due to a text box covering a saw blade that cut my character in half. I can not recommend this game.

Awesome game! I am old school and I like this cool game because has challenge and I need to try and try again level by level. The character can jump or sit down. there are holes with lava or spikes that you need to jump and there are arrows that you need avoid. It is hard game because you die a lot of times, but for people that like challenge is a cool game.

The game has Retro style with Pixel Art, Challenging and a Level editor.
I will participate in the community to send a suggestion to make bigger arrows with different color from the backgorund, making easier to see the arrows.

I will play more but now I got 2 items: The Zombies and The Merfork. I know this is a simple feature but I like to get new items to my inventory.

InfiniTrap:InfiniTrap” is far from perfect. And you will get angry and frustrated while playing (for better or worse). As some stages will kill you off over and over again until you rage quit. InfiniTrap is still worth a try though, because “InfiniTrap” offers one hell of a challenge for hardcore Gamers.

+ Charming retro graphics
+ Indiana Jones vibes
+ 35 levels of adventure madness
+ You can make your own levels
+ The music is rather groovy

– The controls have a life of its own
– Not everyone will appreciate the high difficulty
– The time limit will make your blood boil

Gameplay: 3/5
Graphics: 3/5
Sound/Music 2.5/5
Controls: 3/5
Replay value: 3/5

Verdict: 3/5

I have never really played a game like this before. It is quite difficult, and on one of the levels I played through and died about 30 times in a row before I figured out what I was doing wrong. At first I found myself wishing for a tutorial, but then I realized that figuring it out on my own made me feel like I had really accomplished something. You know, sort of like when you don't understand some math homework, but then suddenly the answer dawns on you.

Since I have young game players in the house, and also because I prefer not to watch bloody and gory animations, I truly appreciate that the developer included a 'no gore' option to make the game family friendly. It's always a positive when gamers are given a choice, and it shows that the developer is willing to put work into the game to make it accessible to everyone.

Since I grew up in Ohio, I'll admit that I'm a bit biased toward liking the title. Control works excellent with my Xbox 360 controller. Difficulty level is high, and I suppose that could be frustrating for some, but I felt that it was worth the money.

Death traps, close calls, and puzzles that will make you shout at your screen welcome to InfiniTrap: Ohio Jack and The Cup Of Eternity! You are greeted with a treasure hungry protagonist named Ohio Jack who is on a mission to acquire the Cup of Eternity from Culsus deadly lair. She plays along with your search and grants you the power to revive as long as you keep playing the “game”. The puzzles are simple at first but gradually get tougher with the time limit playing a big factor and you will find yourself dying not once, not twice, but thirty times! The 2D graphics are simple and fun with a standard color palette for exploration in ruins. The music is nothing spectacular but charming in a way to make you think and eager to go to the next level. I found myself loving the levels and progressing to get closer to that cup, even though I died the death animations are amazing. I did find a couple of problems with the levels such as for one of them where you’re surrounded by zombies and you have no idea where the end is and to me that level is based on luck. A puzzle game should be based on strategic thinking, a optional minimap can easily solve this problem and make some of the levels like that more successful in being stealthy. Another problem I found were the traps…well the one really where you could not even tell it was a trap, I know the idea of a trap is surprising but this one was not obvious…the floor is somewhat cracked if you look really close at it. I know there are limitations for 2D graphics but players are going to get frustrated if they can’t tell what traps look like in the game. I did take a look at the level editor and it took some tinkering but I understand how the triggers, setting enemies, and emitters work, but play testing and seeing the custom map in game did not work for me, I’m hoping the issue will be resolved as soon as possible! Overall I enjoyed the levels I played and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to play a fun exploration puzzle game. Onwards to your journey!

I also made a Let's Play video if you want to check it out of the first 12 levels!

Let's Play Video Link:
