Every level is a procedural construction and can be destruct a lot.
You can become a star of the show !

This game is like a mashup of Pac-Man and Left 4 Dead. You run, gun, and jump your way around each level trying to collect orbs while avoiding all of the enemies that get in your way. This fast paced game is perfect for when you want to play a quick match in a multiplayer fps game but don't want to wait for matchmaking.

In a nutshell? Like Pacman with guns!
In detail? I didnt exactly know what to expect when I got this. I was in the mood for a new shooter, I saw this on the steam store by random chance. I went to the store page and saw that it was two dollars. I then proceded to immediately buy it without regards to what the game was like. I was not disapointed. The lack of a proper main menu was a bit of a boon but then quickly overlooked by the amazing gameplay. This game relies heavily on mechanics rather than gimics. You have one gun. This gun shoots lasers and grenades. You are swarmed with hundreds of robots. Shoot them all while collecting orbs. Green orbs restore your health while red orbs give you grenades. The entire environment is destroyable too! Blow through walls with grenades and such. I do have to give bonus points to the fact that you have a body in first person. I know its a dumb thing to like in a game about mechanics but this is a highly immersive feature that even in a game like this helps and is sadly overlooked in most AAA industries. The last thing I want to mention is this game is hard. Only a few hits will kill you. This makes it so you are always moving. No time to stand still when ninja robots are hounding your ♥♥♥! This is also partly where the destroyable environment comes in. It really encourages quick thinking. Get cornered? Make an escape! The game is surprisingly well optomized too. I am running around at 120 FPS at the maximum settings. With the destroyable environment and the amount of enemies on screen this is an amazing feat. The only downsides or things that I would change would be to add a proper main menu, change the hud around a bit to look more futuristic, right now the hud is kind of ugly and lastly reduce the amount of cinematic slow-mo that happens when you kill enemies. There is just way too much of it.
Would I recommend this game? Absolutely! if you are a fan of fast paced shooters and need something new this game will fill that gap. Its cheap, fun and well put together.

Basic Information
  • Title: SHOWTIME 2073
  • Genre: Action & Indie
  • Developer: Bernand Nicolas
  • Publisher: Genom Games
  • Release Date: The 12 of February, 2016

General Impression
SHOWTIME 2073 is a relatively nice action-based game. The graphics are pretty nice, the textures are also well-designed. The atmosphere happens in 5 arenas, which will slightly differ. There are many walls, which are breakable, even the floor is breakable, and the borders cause damage if you hit them, be careful. You can’t destroy the borders so you can’t escape of the damage given by them. The audio is pretty nice, I like the sounds of the guns and of the wall crashes. The music is also ambient-type and nice. The gameplay is simply: kill all the enemies or/and collect all the orbs. On your way, you will have orbs at your disposal. The green orbs heal your character, the red orbs give you grenades, and the white orbs do nothing other than make more enemies to spawn. You need to collect all orbs per level to progress to the next level. As you go up in level, new obstacles get added to your list of tasks, trying to kill you. There isn’t any story, but when you finish the game, it shows you 3 girls… also, during some missions, there are some girls trapped in some cabins. The user interface is well-optimized, with no bugs and a pretty nice design. However, the menu is very poorly fitted up. There should be more options. The controls are neat. The engines are alright, I haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. Hence the jumping feels a little buggy (too slow). The mechanics are pretty sophisticated, everything moves pretty realistic. Also, when you kill your enemies, they fall pretty realistic. Overall, SHOWTIME 2073 is a relatively nice action-based game, with some pretty nice graphics, an enjoyable atmosphere, pretty nice music, an alright gameplay and pretty nice mechanics.

Positive Points
  • Relatively nice and pretty well-designed graphics and textures
  • Destructible environment
  • Pretty nice audio and nice music
  • Fun and challenging gameplay
  • A pretty nice designed user interface, hence it doesn’t have a menu
  • Well-optimized controls
  • Some pretty stable engines
  • Some pretty nice mechanics, hence the jumping is too slow

Neutral Points
  • A multiplayer and a CO-OP feature would be amazing feature
  • More weapons and more costumes for the character would improve the game
  • A more complex menu would improve the user interface a lot

Negative Points
  • It is pretty short
  • The game feels a little buggy when jumping, it is just too slow
  • There is nothing else to do besides the campaign, there should be more game modes

Showtime 2073 is an absolutely baffling videogame. The more I think about it, the more confused I get. Trying to make sense of this ridiculous product, has led to me pouring iced tea in my ear, while putting my shirt on one leg at time. On the surface it's a futuristic first-person shooter. No wait, I take that back. It's actually a futuristic game-show... game, like Smash TV. In order to win, you have to collect all of the orbs, while destroying robots.

Oh, so it's like Pac-Man with guns? No.

This is the sort of comparison that makes Pac-Man look bad. Imagine if the FPS classic Doom required the player to collect more keys before they finish the stage. Most stages require 2-3 keys to complete, so let's bump that number up to 100. From E1M1 onwards, gamers would have to collect rows upon rows of keys in order to progress. Doom has seen hundreds of mods over the years, but I seriously doubt anyone attempted to create something this asinine.

More importantly, this design-decision wouldn't turn Doom into Pac-Man with guns. The result would just be an otherwise stellar game ruined by a mind-blowingly awful idea. Pac-Man stands on its own. Aside from those four power-pellets in the corners of the maze, you don't have any means to defend yourself. Even if you grab the pellets and eat the ghosts, they'll always come back. Pac-Man has seen numerous clones, but they all share the same basic ideas. Your resources are extremely limited, so your survival is entirely dependent on avoiding danger, not facing it head-on.

Where Showtime 2073 falters is that it lacks a clear and concise vision. You're expected to grab all of the orbs in each stage, but the tools you're given are merely there to waste your time, or even get you killed. The enemy robots are infinite, but there can only be so many in the stage at once. It's usually beneficial to not shoot the bad-guys. If they're in front of you, then sure, fire away. However, if you destroy robots just because they're nearby, or even for the fun of it, they're going to respawn elsewhere. You won't have any idea where they're coming from. It's best to treat the robots as a herd. In other words: let them swarm into one large group, then you can run away and focus on the orbs.

The rockets are mostly ineffective, and that's due to how the game was programmed. Rockets can blow up walls and floors, so theoretically you could create shortcuts, or maybe even pits for the enemies to fall in. Unfortunately, if you try to run through a wall you just destroyed, you're likely to get your feet trapped in the debris. While you shoot the fragments out from under you with the laser, the robots will catch up and lay down a beating. Also, whenever you jump, you lose a ton of forward momentum, so you're liable to get caught and punished. Creating pits also won't work, and that's because rockets won't explode when they hit the ground. At best, you'll get a few scattered holes in the floor, which the bots can easily jump over. To round out the uselessness of this weapon, it has barely any splash damage. Expect to be disappointed, if you fire one into a crowd of robots.

There are other major issues with this game, such as the overpowered electric fences, but I'm not confident that they will be patched. Apparently there's supposed to be multiplayer and maybe some other content on the way, but there hasn't been any word from the developer for months. I'm guessing that this game might be abandoned.

The lack of support is probably reason enough to not recommend this game, but for me, it was flawed from the beginning. This is a product that was made with no specific goal in mind. Do you play it to experience a story? Do you play for the challenge? To get a hi-score? Fun? All Showtime 2073 has to offer is a severely undercooked experiment. It's a futuristic dot-collector that was designed to distract you for less than 30 minutes, and not much else.

Your time is so much more valuable.

Hoping the dev will add more to this game soon since they have done a good job thus far. Running around, blowing up walls and jumping through those said walls while killing everything in sight gives you this bad ♥♥♥ feeling. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys an FPS or anybody who thinks a bad ♥♥♥ PacMan game sounds interesting.

I play this game every day for a few minutes (and beat it). It's my warm up before I play other games.

Consider this a playable music video and the $1 price tag pays for the song you will be listening to while playing.

It's FPS pacman and it's just a blast to play.

Would love to see DLC add more songs and levels at $1 for each batch.

Kinda like a FPS Pac Man

This is another one of them little time killers ! The game is like Pac man and the movie The Running Man lol You need to run around blasting all that moves or blast anything in your way. You then collect the orbs White Points , Green Health and Red Rockets.

The Dev or Devs are still adding and Tweaking it atm but it runs pretty sweet as is. I think for the $0.99 cents price tag this is one you might want to pick up and im sure in time they will add more but if not its fun as is .

So for the pirce i say pick this up if you are a fan of cheap neat games or what i like to call time killers!

Alright, so I'm no writer or anything but I like voicing my opinion when I find good games, and this, is a great game.

PROS:
1. Cheap
2. Fun
3. Great for non gaming pc's
4. Lightweight download
5. Unlimited Ammo
6. Ability to slow down time
7. Rage inducing (which I personally like in a game)
8. Distructable enviroment

CON:
1. No Invert mouse option
2. No in game menu
3. No weapon shop or costumability
4. No Multiplayer
5. No Multiple game modes, some would be Survival, Hardcore, Multiplayer, Team Deathmatch, and others, I understand that this is not a FPS game like Call Of Duty or Battlefield, but I really do love this game and I think it would be more fun with these options.

So, if you like a game like Call of Duty, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, or Battlefield, then this is not the game for you, but if you like simple fun games that you can just hop on and play, then this is the game for you... :D

Showtime 2073 is an odd mix of old school FPS and Pacman. We play as a nameless protagonist as he picks up a certain amount of pellet each round all while being chased by tons of astronaut looking fellows out to beat the crud out of you as the crowd cheers on. No explanations for anything is given, just press enter to start the game and take too long to question just what is going on and you'll get karate chopped into oblivion. You can take up to 5 hits from these human enemies and while not threatening at all on their own they do come in large numbers so it is rather easy to take a hit while distracted on the pellets. Regardless of their numbers you will still have a massive advantage in the form of a laser gun with infinite ammo or recharging. You could literally hold the fire button down from the beginning of the game until the end with no side effects like kick back, overheating or anything you'd expect from an FPS.

While the guns and combat do lack any sense of hard hitting impact the human enemies do have ragdoll physics which make it very entertaining to blast through hordes of them. For some reason the developers added a rather absurdly annoying feature that slows the game down after shooting killing an enemy. I honestly thought I was experiencing unusual slowdown as it persisted even when I turned down all the settings but it was in fact a “feature”. With the amount of enemies you'll be shooting down at any given time this slowdown will be active for most of the game which just makes the game feel awkward and sluggish. Along with your trusty gun you'll also have access to 10 rockets for each red pellet you collect. Everything in this game is destructible which is a big plus as you can simply blow up the mazes instead of searching for an exit while the enemies close in on you. Or you can even use it to blow up the cheering crowd that will never seize to amuse me.

As cool as blowing stuff up is it can also come back to haunt you as you may blow a hole straight through the floor, forget about it and fall to your demise later on if you aren't paying attention. There are no other forms of attacking or weapons so it can get old rather quickly. You can jump rather high though you jump just low enough to not be able to go over walls. I find jumping to be a rather pointless thing to do as enemies can and will treat you like as a volley ball in a inescapable chain. Physics are very floaty while in air and it is not rare that an attack will send you several feet up into the air and cost you most of your life on landing since there is fall damage. Sprinting is the only time you won't be able to shoot though the time between sprinting and being able to shoot is nearly non-noticeable meaning you can easily blast someone just a few feet in front of you. The focus of this game is not really on the combat but collecting the pellets. No matter how many enemies you take down more will spawn in and you will never have time to stop moving.

New enemies such as spiders and mechs make there way into the game later on which are not all that threatening. Your main threat in this game will be the electrical fence at the corners of the levels. They kill you so fast that it leaves little time to escape and is the main reason you don't jump as your doomed if an enemy knocks you into it. It is a pretty unnecessary addition honestly and can very easily be mistaken for any other wall. Some from a shock that still damages you but also repulses you away would have been a better implementation for this hazard. The electrical fence is the only hazard in the game so you've only the enemies to worry about if stay away. Some levels have 100 pellets to collect while others are more arena based and requires you to collect only 10 but has an absolute ton of enemies after you. The green pellets that restore your health are usually the ones you'll want to collect only when you must in case you need them later while on a arena map.

One thing you'll want to change before starting the game is the key bound to closing the game. It is set to the Escape key by default while pausing the game is Tab. The rest of the controls are perfectly fine and work like any other FPS out there. This does feel much more old school than it does like a modern FPS. While you do move slow until sprinting, you can jump rather high, have no iron sights and have a health bar to worry about instead of the usual regenerating health. Shame this game doesn't feature any other modes other than going through the five levels as a simple survival type mode would be a pretty fun addition where you can enjoy the ragdoll physics and destruction without worrying about pellets. A mode such as this would make this a great title to blow off steam. As it is though every time you start the game you'll have to go through all the levels again to reach the mechs, spiders and turrets which can quickly get tiresome. While Showtime 2073 has some rather serious flaws and will get old fast it should be kept in mind that it is priced at two dollars. Go in expecting cheap, mindless fun and you will likely get your moneys worth as you laugh at some poor bloke that fell through a hole right before being falcon punched right down there yourself.

does what you would expect for 99c
improve damage feedback, to make the player understand what killed him (probably give a chance to react), add some skills and/or equipment management elements and the game will be gold.

I don't usually make a point of reviewing games with so little game time but before I forget or before it gets buried in my games library I fealt obliged.

Developer quote "In this game , i wanted the player have fun and fury in the same time." BERNARD Nicolas.

I had fun Bernard, YOU WIN. Sure the games rough around the edges in terms of non existant interface, only has 5 levels, imo it's a leaderboard game (which doesnt have a leaderboard), would benefit from achievements, co-op would be insane and the game deserves a survival mode but in terms of creating something special you nailed it. The concept alone is simple but genius.

Think Pac Man meets Devil Daggers meets a Physx / Havok demo with bodies ragdolling across levels, walls and floors crumbling around you and bullets richocheting from one end of the level to the other set to a pulsing soundtrack and you get the general gist.

Huge, huge fun. So much potential but ultimately brilliant in its current raw state. You're massively underselling yourself and your product listing it at 79p, MASSIVELY. Try adding in a better video to showcase the gameplay, add in a few of the above noted features and consider upping the price to £4.99 to reflect the quality of the product. This is in no way 79p Steam +1 to library / bundle trash. Thanks dev.
