Update Calendar, Steam Cloud, and bug fixes

Calendar booking system
We have always wanted a touring system and the community has been asking for a way to book events further into the future so we decided it was time to re-design our booking system. The new calendar UI allows for you to book/cancel events as far into the future as you would like. This brings with it an obvious warning... DO NOT BOOK 50 YEARS WORTH OF EVENTS at once. It will both slow down your game and be a serious pain if you have a sudden change of plans for your band.

Steam Cloud
A single user suggested that we add Cloud support because he wasn't able to play his save file on his laptop while at work away from home. I felt so bad for him that I spent the necessary time to implement it. I'm sure this is the case for a lot of people that game outside of their home.

Stability and bug fixes
The game isn't bug free obviously as we are a small team but as the programmer, I work VERY hard to respond to and resolve as many bugs as possible. I think it is important that everyone is aware that we both care A LOT about crashes and even just pesky little bugs. Please report any you run into and you can expect that we'll fix it ASAP.

This build fixes a lot of issues and potential crashes players may have ran into previously. The list is too big to go over here so you'll have to refer to the changelog below if you are interested in specifics.

  • Calendar booking system
  • Steam Cloud support
  • Recording studios with higher rating affect recording/rehearsal quality more
Minor changes
  • You can now cancel events by pressing Ctrl+Left MB on occupied date boxes
  • Santa Fe and Albuquerque are no longer in opposite positions on the map
  • Easton and Dover are no longer in opposite positions on the map
  • Confirmation message when cancelling album finalization
  • Maximum profit is now shown on gig booking UI
  • Randomize button for name choice and band choice
  • When writing a song that already exists in your files, you will not be prompted to write the song
  • The "Easy Song Access (F2)" will no longer allow you to write song names that already exists in your files
Bug fixes and performance
  • Studios were not properly including their quality when calculating the rehearsal experience gained
  • Removed username based song directory (Will automatically delete for previous users)
  • Wrote a conversion script to automatically convert old song files to the new name format upon launching this update or a newer one
  • Fixed possible crash with rehearsals due to corrupted save files
  • Minor event message system is now nullified by other present events, this will prevent overlapping events
  • Fixed memory leak and possible crashes due to the player missing recording/rehearsal events
  • Removed a lot of code occurences of string_hash_to_newline() that were added when porting from GMS 1 to GMS 2, this could slightly increase performance in some places
  • Hovering your mouse over the date boxes while a message is being displayed will no longer trigger the tooltips for it

Update Drums, bug fixes, and user suggestions!

Drums are now available!
For a while now only the guitar has been available for the rhythm gameplay, this is no longer the case. The drums are now available in all difficulties and tempos. It has taken a lot of time to complete due to the number of pattern files required (510 to be exact).

User suggestions and further development
We are still completely open to new suggestions and are still working day and night on the game. This is a game we know needs some touching-up and you can expect us to continue working on the game for quite some time. We just want to clarify for our customers/future users that we don't see the game as finished but it is (in our opinion) well beyond Early Access. There is lots of content already and even more on the way.

This game has been a giant project for us and so we don't plan to turn our backs on it until we've completed it. Coming from a cynical point of view you may think we are just trying to show fake dedication but even from a business stand point, it wouldn't make sense for us to leave the game in its current state after all that we have put into it already. Imagine a classic game like Roller Coaster Tycoon with half the content it currently has. A game like that wouldn't sell for 18 years past its original release. We want a game that lasts for the long run, and beats out any attempted clones.

  • Drums are now available for rhythm gameplay
  • Bandmates salary requests have a cooldown period of 3 months
Minor changes
  • Missing a gig causes 50% of the fans that would've arrived at the show to no longer be fans
  • Piracy of latest album event now displays the name of your latest album
  • Quick song access (via F2) no longer allows for you to type the name of a song already saved in the system, this prevents overwriting previously created tracks
  • You can now press SHIFT+ENTER to close the quick song access menu
  • Updated sprite for name randomization options
  • Disabled pattern file verification on launch, should slightly improve load times
Bug fixes
  • Fixed issue with record deal messages and event messages overlapping causing the game freeze
  • Fixed a typo that caused bandmates to request 80% of your monthly income instead of 8%
  • Quitting the game while the quick song access menu was would cause a crash if the save file was reloaded
  • If you quit the game while viewing the rhythm performance options, your game would be bugged out once reloaded, this is no longer the case

About This Game

Rock God Tycoon (RGT) places you at the helm of your very own band and on the path to your own rock destiny. Choose your character’s discipline from guitar, bass, drums, or vocals, then hire the rest of your band before hitting the road to stardom. Manage your group and decide when deadwood needs to be cut. Fed up with the drummer missing shows? Fire the slacker and replace him!

Model your fully customizable characters with 300+ available items, all exceptionally detailed, beautifully designed, and with frequent new additions. Everybody needs to pay their bills though, and you’ll need to book the right shows and practice your songs to keep the money coming in; going from small town bars, to concerts halls and stadiums. Your band isn’t performing and is struggling to hold a note? Better put down that coffee to pick up that gauntlet and step on stage yourself to show them how it’s done. Gigging across 76 cities, each with unique venues, you'll constantly be on the road; whether it be in a van, tour bus, or a private jet.

As your skill and renown grows, so will your fan base. Head to the shop and use some of your cash to upgrade your instruments, equipment, and buy promotions in a fully realized catalogue of features. Make sure to manage the tension and egos in your band carefully, and while you’re at it, don’t forget to pay the rent. Well placed info tabs show you every actionable detail of your band, and allow you to manage all of your band's day to day goals.
