At least at this stage the game is really not worth buying. While I believe the developer did a good job with music and atmosphere, the overall impression is very negative. While the fact that the game is very short (15-20 mins top) would be acceptable, the game lacks pretty much in everything. The english translation is terrible and in many places simply doesn't make any sense. The story, specially the endings, could have been better as well, as of now it looks incomplete and flawed. The coding needs polishing (for example, the character will comment things like "that's my wife's tomb" both when entering and when exiting the crypt, breaking immersion) and there are plenty of graphic glitches and just incomplete/imperfect assets, the messages written on the walls look like bad photoshop result. Flashlight needs tweaking (in some places, if you turn it off, you will be in complete darkness, while if you turn it on you end up blinded) and an ingame tip to use it if needed (if I haven't checked the controls before starting the game, I wouldn't even have known you had a flashlight). Overall, skip it. This game still needs lots of work.

- They said the game was short. It was short. +for Honesty

-Key system, find a key to everything
-I found 1 enemy, and he just stood there. I even walked up to him, and he did not do anything.
-Again it was short.
-I'm out of thins to say, because there was not much to go on. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I'm actually quite sad to be giving this a thumbs down because it contained at least two minutes of genuine, well manufactured tension but, uh... well:
"I loved him better than all, I did not expect that he will go crazy and kill me with an axe. But I love it all smooth."
Could you possibly take the drugs AFTER you write the script next time, please?
Bemusement and mild terror for your viewing pleasure:

I can't believe i paid for this. It's not a game, it's not a story, it's .... pseudophilosopher on heavy drugs.... Worst thing ever, you should be ashamed selling this...
Not worth money, not worth time.
And story is baaaaad, really, really bad.

This game was very short. I believe that I cloched about 10 minutes for my playthrough. There was a period of about 2 minutes of solid tension that could have been excellent, but the rest of the game was pretty rough.

Pros -
developers were honest about length
20% of the time played was pretty excellent in its tension building

Too short for any sort of purchase
Grammer was terrible....and WAY too much exposition.
There was actually an arrow on the wall of an ancient church that directed you in the correct path.

This game is going to be murdered on youtube.

For a game this short, I was hoping it would at least be high quality or scary. No and no.

Reasonably well packed pile of nothing

So... What to say about this game... Here's a few things:

  • The surroundings were reasonably well made.
  • For about two minutes, the combination of the background music and surroundings actually gave me a genuine feeling of, if not fear, at least tension. I was actually expecting for something to jump at me.

  • Nothing ever did jump at me...
  • The game felt extremely laggy and a few times I couldn't advance through a gate before going back a few steps and trying again once the gate was "fully loaded" ( =opened)
  • The game is just way too dark, and I don't mean it as a genre. The lighting is horrible, and it's impossible to see where you're going unless you're sporting the flashlight at all times. Why make having the flashlight on an option if it's this difficult to find your way without it?
  • Immediately after starting the game, and all the way through it, I was assaulted by an ENORMOUS amount of very simple grammatical errors and just general bad English. I'd expect at least the script of a game to be somewhat readable before having to pay for it...
  • The story makes absolutely no sense. Like none at all...
  • The game was SHORT. Okay, so it says it's short in the description, but I was expecting to get at least an hour or two of... can't really call this entertainment, so let's go with... stuff...

TLDR: This game, no matter how low a price a measly 2€ is, is not worth it.

Could be better. Story could be interesting but the game is unfinished. Moving is hard and can cause dizzyness... If it was free it could be a good 15 mins. But 2,00 $ is way too costly...

"My Bones" is an interesting, very short, atmospheric narrative - nothing more.

- Lack of story: There's a story here, but, its not fleshed out enough. It's cliched and lacks any engaging hook to pull the player in.

- Lack of puzzles/challenges/obstacles: Find a key, open a door. ...That's the difficulty level. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but it really feels like its only here to slow the pace and pad the game, so as to give the illusion of more gameplay. I would consider that a negative.

- General lack of content: Just as stated. There's really not much, at all, to do.

- Abrupt ending(s): Just as stated. They just kind of... end.

- Broken English: I feel this game would have faired better had it been released in either the developer's native tongue only, or with the option to play in a (broken) English mode. Its understandable if one's main dialect is used in a game, as they want to share, but it really detracts from the overall experience having it solely in a language that is clearly not a primary one. Its not terrible, but it helps to break immersion, and some word choices are so wrong that they completely muddle the intended meaning.

- Transitions: They are abrupt, and just "bonk" you into a new area. There's no real transition. Example: Walking through a dungeon-like area, go through a door into a hallway; loading screen -> Now you're outside in a field, somehow. Very confusing... not even a portal or two to explain the jump?

-/+: Very short: The game itself takes less than 10 minutes to play through. That's not necessarily a positive, nor is it a negative. Games like "The Graveyard" are nice, short titles that give a feeling, and deliver it very well. Other times, however, short can mean "lacking content". This kind of falls into the middle, as further highlighted in my "PROS" section.

+ Very atmospheric: The atmosphere is very unsettling. The developer knew what they wanted to share as far as mood, and really made it clear.

+ Visuals: The lighting, and overall ambiance of the game was just fine. It looked good, was detailed enough to prove that they put time into design, and was obviously planned, as opposed to slapped together like in some indie titles. Good job on that front~

+ Audio: The audio files used were well placed, and fit the game very well. There were no tacky noises, nor were there any overly used ones either; they didn't milk them. They were well placed and added to the overall "setting" that was in place.

Would I recommend "My Bones"?
Well.. sadly, not.

..Not for money, anyways.
As a free to play game, I would definitely recommend one to give it a go for interests sake.
I am a strong advocate for Indie developers making games and trying to tell a story.

This game, however... doesn't feel finished.
It feels... weak, with a promise that doesn't deliver.

And now, I think I'll go and rest my own bones for the night~

About as amatuer as it gets.

The graphics were ok, but the story is weak and the English translations are poor. They missed out on some jump scare opportunities and the game is very short for its price tag.

Only good on super sale as a cheap stocking stuffer.

This is one of those games where I looked at all the negative reviews and decided to just play it for myself, which turned out to be a mistake. Although I only spent 50 cents on this, I still kind of regret that purchase, and that should tell you something.

Now, let's talk about the game itself. First thing I should say is that this game ran like complete trash for me. I was barely hitting 30fps and this game is no graphical showpiece. Also, the last graveyard sequence completely broke for me and I couldn't see anything unless I crouched walked because it seemed my head was clipping through some invisble ceiling 6 feet off the ground. For the story, you wake up in a dark cementary and for the next 20 minutes spend your time looking for keys to doors. The translation is pretty rough, which you'll notice pretty fast in the unskippable scrolling text intro sequence. The story is kind of meh and there are two endings(good & bad), which aren't very dramatic.

-The part where you were in the church basement actually was a little creepy, but maybe it just stood out to me because the rest of the game was bland and not scary at all

-Not optimized very well
-Broke for me at the last sequence
-Translation is pretty bad
-Gameplay revolves around searching for keys to progress the story
-Story is pretty meh

Note: Graphics options are limited to 3 presets (low, medium, and high).

I generally don't list game length as a pro or con, because I've played some pretty good short games. So it took me about 17 minutes (probably could have been shorter if I could've seen during that last sequence).

Overall I don't recommend this game, even for the 50 cents I paid for it.

I have played a lot of games in my life but i can safely say this is the WORST GAME I have EVER played. you can literally finish the game in 5 minutes. I don't need to say no more. 5 ♥♥♥♥ING MINUTES. the rest of my playtime is for trading cards.

Awful. I really love indie horror, but this was appalling. The grammar and spelling was terrible, the gameplay was jerky, the story line was incomplete and cliche. Only enjoyable moment was turning around to find that the empty room I had been in was now full of corpses.

It was extremely short, but it had a great story to it. I enjoyed the small bit of the game there was, especially for a gameguru game. If it was longer it definitely would of been better, thats really the only issue. Would play again
