What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cadence is made to be used and enjoyed by you. It’s really important to us that we use your experiences to help shape the future of making music with Cadence.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It’s tough to say at this point, as there’s no road map for how deep the rabbit hole of a music sandbox game goes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We have loads of ideas for new instrument and effect modules to expand the sound palette available to you in the editor, as well as many refinements to make the editor more powerful and enjoyable.

We would also like to ship with a more structured puzzle campaign in the final version of the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Right now there is everything you need to start making your own music in the editor and to share this to the Steam Workshop. There is also a loose collection of gameplay levels that may or may not stay the same depending on the direction development takes.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase if we feel we’ve added enough value with significant new features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’re really keen to build a community around Cadence and the Steam workshop. That’s why Steam Workshop is directly integrated into the game, because we want to hear what you’re making. There are also feedback forms built into the game to hear your suggestions and gather bug reports. In addition we're always available via our social media.”

About This Game

Unleash your creativity with the PC’s first ever music sandbox game. Learn to make your own music by drawing beautiful shapes, and then share your favourite creations with the community. Here you can rate other player’s efforts or download them as a starting point for your own songs. There’s also an hour’s worth of head scratching puzzles for you to solve in Campaign mode.

A new way to make music

If you’ve ever tried to use pro audio software you’ll know how intimidating the space shuttle like controls can be. It’s a frustration that smothers curiosity before it’s even begun. But imagine there was a simpler way, a way for anyone to make their first music within minutes? By harnessing gameplay rules and the simple act of drawing, you can use Cadence to start making music right now.

Learn from others

Music is a deep passion that can take a lifetime to master. Cadence provides several tools for you to take more control as your musical confidence increases, but one of the best ways to learn is from others. The built in community browser showcases what’s possible with Cadence, and provides the inspiration for your own creativity with an effortless one-click import feature.

Campaign

Cadence isn’t just a music app, it’s a game as well - featuring an hour’s worth of puzzles (at present) from the award winning designer of Desktop Dungeons. The perfect way to challenge yourself and get your head around the more obscure parts of the game.
