Castle is a simplistic strategy game where you build castles for different rulers. While building the castles you must fend off attackers who are trying to destroy your castle or stop you from building it.

+Nice cartoony graphics that look quite qood when on the maximum settings (anything less than maximum on resolution and graphic settings looks horrible)
+Quite a few levels
+Backgrounds on the levels look nice
+Money you earn from the levels allows to purchase upgrades as well as tools to fight off attackers
+Has achievements and trading cards

-It feels too much like a flash game
-Steep difficulty curve
-New gameplay mechanics are introduced through overly-simplistic pictures rather than text which aren't helpful at all
-Gets boring extremely quickly
-Price is too high for what it is so if you want it buy it on sale
-You can't replay levels

It's a nice idea but it gets boring quickly and it feels too much like a flash game for the price tag, buy it on sale if you buy it at all.

Someone remind me why I wanted this game, again? Sure, it looks like a flash game, but I enjoy flash games! This one... not so much >_< See the big old hour glass in the screens? It's not for bonuses if you finish in time, it's GAME OVER if you don't finish in time! It's frantic and super-clicky, and I only lasted a few simple castles before I could no longer progress.

I recommend getting this game when it's bundled. If you like being incredibly stressed, go for it! If you're like me, you'll hate it, but redeem it anyway and get your cards -- at least that's one good thing I can say about the game!

Yep this is a flash game and like most of flash games, It's simple and challenging.
You are a builder, your job is to build castle for as requested by the king.
I really like how unique is this game but yeah it still lack many things especially the achievements are in-game only (not integrated with Steam Achievements).

But the devs are still improving this game "The current version doesn't include the Steam specific features yet, but please note that we WILL add the Steam Leaderboards, Achievements (and possibly other nice Steam features) in an early 2015 update! Happy Holidays! :)"

Overall, I enjoyed it and will definitely replay it when the update comes.
Recommended for you to try this game out before judging it.

This is a fun casual game where you need to build castles with blocks. While you try to place the blocks on their slots, monsters like thief chickens and angry clouds make your life harder, stealing your blocks or jamming the cranes. You can get rid of these or the effects by checking at the shop for fireballs and anvils (for the knight!).

There is also an Atlas telling you about the Kings - the ones who want their castles built - the Monsters and other characters. This denotes the care of the devs to make a nice game.

Unfortunatelly it is a Flash game that means performance issues. The hints are visual so you need to use your brain to understand how some things work, but that shouldn't be a challenge.

In Castle, you're building castles piece by piece, in the right place. But guess what? Not only you have a timer but you have knights, hens, clouds, moles, bombs or fire that are preventing you to do so. The only way to get rid of them is to buy bonus (or to wait that they regenerate).

That's the core of this little game. The more you advance, bigger are the buildings and more annoying are your enemies. While the game is repetitive, it's a good challenge. The mechanics are simple and nice, the tutorial is shown with pictures and you have a little shop where you can buy your bonus.

You have three kings to satisfy: someone reigning over the plain, someone over the desert and someone over the ice. But it's only affecting the design of the castles, as the ennemis are still the same.

The graphics are cute, as I feel like the children can be targeted with this game. The soundtrack is good too.

Anyway, I find myself playing it for more time than I expected. I wonder why I didn't play it sooner, because it's a nice little game....

"Castle" can be pretty challenging, though it lacks in execution. It relies on pictures instead of text, for example, to explain how the different elements work. My biggest gripe is the inability to replay levels...since your income is based on your performance, you can find yourself short on money in the later levels if you mess up really badly on the prior levels (by buying a ton of items, for example, and having to use them to fend off enemies because you couldn't build the castle fast enough). I would have preferred a random rotation mode...that is, the ability for the game to generate random levels and just have at it. Instead, you're forced to play set maps in a linear campaign (until you unlock the other two modes). I'd really only recommend this at full price to those who really enjoy jigsaw/puzzle games while under pressure. Otherwise, wait for a sale.

-Unique game mechanics
-EXCELLENT tutorial through level design

-Can be slightly confusing at first, but if you push through the first few levels you'll get it and it becomes fun

I was apprehensive to getting this game when it came out, but I decided to give it a try and see what it's all about, and I can tell you with full certainty that it is worth all the fun it is, and more.

Gameplay is stressful in that you are constantly watching out for the correct pieces, while at the same time watching for your opponents and waiting for them to make a move so you can counter-move, and also picking up every bag of coins that pops out of the castle as cash is something you will desperately need later on and now is probably the best time to get it when later you won't be able to even notice it.

Your mouse will fly all around the screen as you frantically go from building to defending and vice versa in seconds. But for some odd reason you can't help but keep playing. Like, you know this game is stressing you out but you can't stop playing. I wanted to throw my mouse at the screen so many times, but I knew that if I did I might break one of them, and I need both of them to keep playing. It's like listening to the Katamari Damacy theme song while driving down a major highway: you know you're not supposed to run over people or objects smaller than you, but the bloody theme is playing and you can't stop listening because the song is that good.

Basic Information
Title: Castle
Genre: Action, Casual, Indie
Developer: Snails Animation
Publisher: Snails Animation
Release Date: 7 Jan, 2015

Basic Overview
Castle is a simple unique puzzle game that has a steep learning curve, low replay ability and some interesting mechanics that really bring the game to it's name. I enjoyed this game for a certain amount of time, then it just got boring because of the difficulty. I am however recommending this game because even though it has low replay value and does get boring at times, there was a nice session of when it was fun to play. I do suggest playing in short sessions though as you might get bored of this game if you keep failing.

Game Play
This game is very unique in the sense of the puzzle side of things. You have to create a castle with the tiles of the castle at the top of the screen as the scroll from right to left. All you have to do is drag them into the correct places and make the castle. Simple enough right? That's what I thought. The games concept is great, don't get me wrong. I haven't seen other puzzle games that are like this. There are a few problems with this though. First off, it's easy to misjudge what piece of the castle goes where. There where many times in the game where I would put a piece on the wrong slot just because I wasn't sure if it fitted there or not. This is not a puzzle factor of the game, it's simple misjudgement. If you combine that with the enemies you have to take care of, the time limit and the lives that you have then you are always on edge of this game. There are so many things to take into consideration that makes this game so difficult. This then makes you play a single level over and over again for like half an hour and that isn't fun. That also ties in with the repetitive nature of the game as each level is basically a harder version of the previous level. They add more enemies, and bonuses you have to buy every now and then. Despite all the bad things that have said there are some fun elements to the game that I want to talk about. They do produce a small and pretty basic graph of how many of each enemy will be on that level. This means that you can plan in advanced and buy the things that can stop them from you building, each enemy has a different type of item that you can use to get rid of them. A fireball for a bird, anvil for a knights, dynamite for a mole ect. Along with the variety of enemies there are also 3 different variations of castles to build, plain, desert and ice which kinda separates the art style.
Score (Out Of 10): 7 - Would like to see more variations of the castles and less of a difficulty curve.

Graphics/Art Style
The Art Style to this game isn't all that good or bad. It has nice, crisp and clean graphics for a cartoon like game. I personally don't really like the way this game looks, the Art Style looks too childish for me to really like it. I like some cartoon art styles but this just seems to go a bit overboard for me. I will score it fairly as I know some people do like this kind of Art Style
Score (Out Of 10): 7 - I can see why people would like the graphics, but for me personally I don't like them. They look too childish

Music & Sounds
The music to this game is great. Although it would be better if they could add some more variation to each different type of castle, as depending on the type of castle it is will change the music accordingly to that certain castle type. This means that there are only 3 different soundtracks that play throughout the entire game. Again gets very repetitive if your playing in a longer session. As for the sounds they are okay, the sound of a anvil hitting a knight on the head is pretty satisfying to say the least, and others like when you hit a fireball on the bird.
Score (Out Of 10): 8 - Would like to see more variation for soundtracks.

I would recommend this game to people who like puzzle games, I suggest playing in short periods to avoid not really having as much fun as you did the first time you played it. Also the soundtracks get repetitive so there is another reason why playing in shorter sessions could benefit your gaming experience better than mine.

Imagine trying to build a sand castle on the beach.

With nonstop rain, destructive knights, theifing birds, annoying moles, plenty of bombs, and flaming arrows being shot at you!

But you can't go home because the king needs a new castle every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ level like Princess Peach.

That's basically this game in a nutshell, build castles without loosing your sanity!

Castle has cute graphics, some funny moments/characters and an addictive gameplay, especially for those who like simple flash games. There's a good variety of enemies and objects that will try to make your building days difficult and each one of them has its own way to overcome. 3 out of its 4 modes (normal, humble builder, protect the castle) are fairly easy once you get the hang of it and won't take you more than 2-2.5 hours to complete. However, the last mode - the king mode - is almost imposible to beat and very very irritating, since the time limit is very tight and the number of the enemies is huge, so you spend more time trying to defend against them than actually building. It would be more tolerable if we could assign the weapons on keys, thus avoiding having to click and drag them every time on the respective tiles.

This game was so much fun. There is a perfect blend between hardcore and casual. It is a very simple game that ends up being a lot harder than you would ever think.

Sadly enough I can't recommend this. Repetitive gameplay, lack of challenge, over-reliance on the same childish humor. An utter waste of my money and time.

Casual game huh? It is effing hilarious that this game requires higher APM than any other competitive RTS or MOBA games with unresponsive left mouse click alone. The developers of Castle miserably failed at making a good casual game:

My complaints about this game:
I was confused for a while about how bad the game controls but after reading the reviews I'll have to agree - this game does feel like it was made for the touchscreen devices (which it probably was). Due to that playing on a laptop's touchpad is impossible. But even with a mouse later levels can be a bit too much.
The reset of the money you've spent before the level after you fail is annoying close to the end as well. Also, the money on the ground covers up some of the enemies.
Because of the lack of a proper tutorial I've gone through 2/3 of the normal mode without realising what the losing conditions are and got extremely frustrated when I kept failing later on without seeing any clear indication as to why that happened. Took some trial-and-error tries to figure that out.

But all in all, that game was almost what I wanted - something to busy my hands with that doesn't require much thinking for when I'm watching something (which is why I can't say anything about the music - haven't heard a note).
So I'm satisfied.

Would've liked it better on a tablet, though.

It can be a bit difficult at the beginning. But when you discover how to play is a good game to play.

It reminds me a bit to Tetris... With upgrades!!
