Oh boy. I remember all the times I attempted to play this game, and how every attempt ended up in failure.
Do I recommend this game? If I could actually navigate the main menu I would. If there were actual working servers I would. If people were actually playing I would. If the game didn't crash all the time I would. If the devs were actually working on finishing this incomplete mess of a thing that I don't dare call a game, then I would. But they're not, so I won't.

Three reasons why you
SHOULDN'T
get HIT.

1. All the controls are basically just aimed for XBox controllers.

Mostly are the controls mention that you need a controller to do this or that, and it barely mentions anything about keyboard/mouse controls.

2. NO ONE PLAYS THE GAME!!

So I just loaded up the game now, and I've been waiting for about 20 minutes looking for someone else to join my lobby. You know It's bad when you have time to go downstairs and make some noodles.

3. The game always crashes.

I probably installed this game about a few months back (It's second day on Steam.) EVERY TIME I tried to play the game it would instantly crash, not even giving me the little pop-up saying "Preparing to launch the game HIT." Today however, it finally worked. (Going back to rant #2, I'm STILL waiting for a third person to join my game and I'm STILL writing this rant while eating the noodles that I made.

I'VE BEEN A LITTLE HARD ON THE GAME SO I'LL GIVE THREE REASONS WHY YOU
SHOULD
PLAY HIT.

1. Great idea for a game!

The one thing that drew me to installing the game is the idea of it. This seems like one of those games that you could invite your friends over and have a LAN party.

2. The art style of the game.

This game reminds me of the art style of Team Fortress 2 and it has that cutesy game kind of look. Very well done.

3. The charcters.

Interesting character choice. If I were to make a game similar to HIT, I would've never thought about putting in characters like Big Game Hunter or Debutante. <--- Sorry if I spelled that wrong. ^_^

So, overall I'd rate this game, say.... 4.5/10 maybe..? It's a REALLLLYYYY good idea and concept for a game, just TURN IT INTO A WORKING GAME!!!!!!111!!!. The last update was about 2/9/15? If you make the game less buggy, I'm sure it could get really good reviews.

If you found this helpful I encourage you to please click that thumbs up at the bottom of this review. Also, good job to whomever made it this far down to the bottom of my review. Anyways, that's all.

This review is subject to change if the game updates, but until then my recommendation is to avoid it sadly. Launched today and all of these issues remain, game is most likely abandoned (due to being a school project with no monitization, not like I blame them for abandoning it) so I'd just save yourself the download time and ignore it.

HIT is essentially a combination of many ideas, mainly ones from an old Garry's mod game mode called "Trouble in Terrorist Town" and a source game called "The Ship". The general idea is that a group of people are all seemingly trying to accomplish a goal, only one (or more) of them are traitors and you must find and kill them. It's a really old (and fun) concept, and HIT mostly succeeds except for some major issues.

Lack of people playing, and a incredibly gimped keyboard/mouse support.

Obviously the first issue is seemingly easy to fix, and it's a free game so with a bit of publicity people just might start playing in large enough numbers for a much more in-depth review to be possible, but as of writing I can only go off of what I was given.

The second is actually bizzare to me, unlike games like Dark Souls which were designed for a console with no intention of becoming a PC port, this game seems to ONLY have been made for the PC, which begs the question why a controller is almost required? The menu doesn't respond to PC input that well, and the keyboard seems to only be used for imputting names.

Now, the real reason I can't recommend the game comes from the fact it is terrifyingly unoptimized. Load times are long enough to convince you the game has crashed (which the game frequently does, I've spent barely any time with it and only got 1 stable play test) and the options basically give you a resolution setting and your choice of "High" "Medium" or "Low".

All in all with updates, bug fixes, optimizations and UI improvements I'd easily see myself playing a game like this, but as of right now it's just a mess.

Bad communication from the developers ; it seems the only servers you can see are your friends.
Plus, the game would be unplayable if you're not playing with vocal chat.
Therefore, a lot of people give this game a bad review because they don't see any servers.

But the game itself is good ! It's not perfect, it might need a bit of balancing, some more maps (or more random locations for the objectives), but hey, it's free, and it's great !

Also, the game isn't as ugly as the screenshots suggest. I don't know why, but it's a lot better when it's moving.

You have at least 3 friends to play with ? It's free, give it a try !

Downloaded game. Launched game. Spent about 5 minutes running around 2 separate games. Kept in mind that this is still in development, but there's not really enough there to enjoy the game.

Pros:
- Characters are interesting (wider selection would be better though...)
- Art is cute, very 70's retro.

Cons:
- no servers
- mouse contorls are horrible, seems to be aimed at xbox
- bad controls and lack of any real thing to do makes it kinda boring...

Edit 02/10/15: This game is still very early in devleopment, this review is subject to change if they fix the major issues in the game - mostly, the annoying console type controls.

HIT is a MISS.

A PC game for a start uses PC and keyboard, we dont want to have to use a controller with controller prompts on screen.
The rest of my gripes are mentioned in other - reviews.

UPDATE

+ Nice art and animations
+ No payments possible or necessary...
- ... so we might have to deal with cheaters (they're currently all on Payday 2 so don't worry)
- Can't join games! Either I crash when people join, or the host crashes when the game starts.
- Objectives can be thrown outside of the game area, rendering it unwinnable/unloseable.
- Main menu UI is suck.
- Does not accomodate my resolution size, or many others for that matter. It does have 768p if you're into that.
- The game title is still missing a letter at the beginning.
