Balance Changes

This season has gone incredibly well, and we are really happy with the current win rates overall. We feel that we have nailed down a really solid role list with this season, and that small adjustments can be made with the current win rates to bring certain roles up or down a peg to be exactly where we want them to be.

We are going to be starting with a change that we believe will give evil roles the ability for more a interesting play style in game, and will allow the Jester to have more impact on games.

The Jester can now kill any player who does not vote innocent on them when hanged.

This change allows the Jester more options on who to kill, and can allow the Jester the potential to remove roles that are more impactful from the game than before. This should make players more hesitant to vote guilty on a potential evil role as well. This has always been the general idea behind the Jester, but certain play styles have made the Jester less impactful on games than we had originally hoped. We believe this change will be good for overall health of the role, and will help it be the role it was always meant to be. A role that makes you second guess yourself when trying to hang someone.

Thanks for being involved. We are looking forward to seeing how this season goes, and we will be keeping an eye on everything.

Happy Hanging from the BMG Team!

Patch 2.2.2 Free Coven Weekend!

Hey Townies!

Today we will be releasing a patch and with this patch we will be dipping our toes into free Coven weekends. You heard that right. You can play the Coven for FREE this President’s Day Weekend! Check out the details about this and more below.

Free Coven Weekend!

This weekend, the 16th-19th, The Coven will be free to play for all users. Everyone will have a chance to try out the Coven and all the changes that come with the Coven before they make the decision to pick it up.

New Cosmetics!

With this patch we will be releasing several new cosmetics including a new house, map, pet, and taunt.

New House
Mushroom Manor
Some prefer to eat them, some hate them invading their garden, but some think they are quite cozy.

New Map
Heaven and Hell
This is an interesting map, as it is our first map that changes into a different map at night time. During the day you are greeted with a golden city floating in the clouds. When night falls though the blue sky becomes a sea of lava, and those fluffy clouds become pointed stone platforms.

New Taunt
Celebrate a player's great plays, or point out another's blunders with our newest taunt! This taunt will shoot 3 fireworks above the player exploding at different heights and sizes in yellow, blue and red.

New Pet
Spike may be toxic, but that smile can't be beaten.

Rotating Game Mode Changes!

Rivals has been the least popular of all the rotating game modes. Due to this, we will be rotating it out permanently. The only modes in the rotation are now Lovers and VIP. We are looking into potential game modes to add to the rotation for the future.

Along with this we will be extending Lover's mode for a week to have it active during Valentines week.

The Cauldron icon will now show the cooldown left before the Cauldron can be used again.

Bug Fixes!

Fixed an issue where if a player left the game and was then reported a report was not filed.
Fixed an issue where if you received Vampire Hunter scrolls from the cauldron the full name of the scrolls was not displayed.
Fixed an issue where the Juggernaut was able to kill Pestilence. Pestilence has Invincible defense and must be hanged to be killed.
Fixed a few other issues where the Juggernaut was not working as intended.
Fixed an issue where if a VIP left, the game could select the player who just left as the new VIP causing the game to end in a Coven win.
Fixed an issue where if a Doctor healed a player from a Bodyguard's counterattack, they were not notified they healed anyone.
Fixed an issue that was causing new friends to be shown as owning the Coven.
Fixed an issue where the Blast Off death animation wasn't showing correctly as a legendary item for the legendary Cauldron brew.

About This Game

Purchase comes with the exclusive SteamBot3000 Character Skin with unique death animation, 2,000 Town Points ($8 Value) and you will earn double Merit Points forever!

Town of Salem is a fresh innovation on the classic party games Mafia and Werewolf. It is a game of murder, accusations, deceit and mob hysteria.

How To Play

The game ranges from 7 to 15 players. These players are randomly divided into alignments - Town, Mafia, Serial Killers, Arsonists and Neutrals. If you are a Town member (the good guys) you must track down the Mafia and other villains before they kill you. The catch? You don't know who is a Town member and who is a villain.

If you are an evil role, such as a Serial Killer, you secretly murder town members in the veil of night and try to avoid getting caught.

Town of Salem has 33 unique roles ensuring a different experience each time you play.

Before a game starts, players are put into a lobby where the host can select what roles will be in the game. Players are then assigned roles at random from the list of chosen roles. Players have an in-game role card that explains their role's abilities and alignments. For an in-depth look at the abilities of each role please visit:

Game Phases

The night phase is when most roles use their abilities. For example, Serial Killers stealthily murder people, Doctors heal people who are attacked, and Sheriffs interrogate people for suspicious activity.

The day phase allows the Town members to discuss who they suspect of being an evil role. Once the voting phase starts a majority vote from the town will put someone on trial.

The defense phase is when you plead your innocence to the town. Have a convincing story or find yourself facing the gallows!

During this phase the town will vote on the fate of the defendant. Players can vote guilty, innocent or abstain. If there are more guilty votes than innocent votes the defendant is sentenced to death by hanging!

Players are able to choose their own map (town setting), character, pet, lobby icon, death animation, house and a custom name. The other players in the game will see your selections. There are currently 10 maps, 29 characters, 20 pets, 5 death animations and 20 houses to choose from.

There are currently over 220 unique achievements in the game. Earning achievements will grant various in-game items (however the items for donation rewards are exclusive to Kickstarter).
