Reviews

“This isn't making existing genres slightly prettier, this is an exploration of new ways to involve the player in these stories.”
Polygon

“Have you ever been woefully ill-prepared for a test that could negatively impact your life because of the test score blinded educational system? And, also, all your classmates were dolphins? Welcome to Classroom Aquatic.”
Destructoid

“Even if it’s just a reawakening of school time nostalgia, or a surreal kind of paranoia, Classroom Aquatic demonstrates that VR can make us feel things – and do things – that regular games can’t.”

Okay, the premise is ridiculous, but this was actually fun. It does exactly what a videogame should do: it gives us a situation we couldn't actually experience in real life (without getting flunked or suspended), sets tight rules for victory for defeat, then lets us play.

On my second playthrough, after failing the first test, I genuinely started to feel tense because the teacher was at the back of the classroom, time was running out, and the dolphin next to me didn't have the page I needed showing. I chucked an eraser across the room, distracting the teacher and copying the student behind me's answer FTW.

I'm looking forward to how they'll expand this world or give us other ones to experience.

This is a demo of the game so you only get to play one part of the game, but it's still very cute and funny. And it has dolphins.

There's not too much going on in this demo as you literally stay in the same spot the whole time, but the basic premise is that you are taking a test, and the questions are really hard. You have to cheat off of your dolphin classmates without getting noticed by your teacher, and if he catches you cheating or throwing erasers (you can actually throw them at him lol) lose a life. If you get caught three times, you lose. You'll also lose if you don't answer all the questions in time. The final game will have more to do than just this part. It's a demo, after all.

The music is pretty nice and sounds a lot like Windwaker's beachy tunes; it fits the atmosphere very well. The graphics are stylized and Gamecube-y and the dolphins are downright adorable.

I give it a 7/10 and a "yes" for cute graphics and original gameplay. To be honest, it's hard to hate this game. It has dolphins.

This is an extremely fun demo, Its got the suspence of cheating in real life but its harder to cheat in the game, and it also doesnt get you suspended :P! It is extremely enjoyable except for one annoying flaw, about 60% of the time when I tried to play it whenever the teacher was supposed to say start the test he/she wouldnt and it just didnt progress to the actual game. Also there is no pause menu.

Anyway for the demo its worth it, if the game doesnt work just alt tab right click close the game and relaunch, but for the full product $15 sounds like way too much. I hope I'm proven wrong but this feels like the demo for a $3-$5 game instead of a $15 one. But maybe it will be filled with tons of gameplay mechanics. But for now the demo is fun and worth playing but I dont know about the full game.
