This is the best hidden object game that I have ever played. It is beautiful and surprising and clever.

It is slow.
It has hidden object elements.
It is very linear.

But it was definitely worth 50 cents.

The gameplay is too slow for me personally. You backtrack way too much with your slow speed and puzzles do not explain how they are played, resulting in even slower gameplay. I would recommend this to people who are looking for calm and relaxing gameplay.

Dirt cheap, short and sweet, point & click puzzle game with hidden objects. The beautiful art style reminded me of a childrens book, but I can't find it. The music is relaxing and the puzzles are not too challenging, so it's a good way to unwind for a couple of hours, if moving the insect doesn't annoy you too much.

Some facts and a few downsides you should know:
  • Playtime is about 1,5 to 2 hours.
  • About 15 - 20% seem to complete the game.
  • Controls are clunky and thus movement could be better.
  • Sometimes you end up just clicking everywhere because objectives aren't made clear. This distracts from the beauty of the game.
  • The riddles themselves are also kind of standard, suffer from glitchy controls as well though.
  • Movement is very, very slow. Combined with the control issues this might be a show stopper for some people. If you don't have the patience you should better avoid this.

I assume most of the problems originate from the game being made to work for mobile.

That said:
  • The game is beautiful. It's not long, it's not complex, but the artwork itself is really well done and cute. If you're pulled in by the screenshots you might as well enjoy it.
  • The music is very nice as well.
  • I'd say the difficulty of the puzzles is satisfying. Not too hard, not too easy either.
  • It's more of an art game than a real game. If you enjoy it that way you will not be disappointed.
  • The pricing is very fair for the content length.

I really enjoyed this game except for the last puzzle, I had my first stroke trying to solve that thing. My doctor advised me not to try and solve it again but I'm sure I'll get it next time.

+++ It's a puzzle game with challenging puzzles, which is good an worth it's price if you like puzzles. would rate it 4/10 because of that, but:
--- horrible controlls
--- character moves annoyingly slow
- the game could be cleared in half the time (about 45-60mins instead of 120mins) if the character would move faster and if the controlls were better
-- I dont like the art style very much and I dont like insects
- boring story (haha, there is none: solve riddles, crawl inside a giant insect, repeat x5)
- unsatisfiying ending (crawl inside a cave)

This is the most beautifully illustrated game I have ever seen. It is a very unique point-and-click game. The concept of being an insect and going on a journey of metomorphosis is quite original. The hidden objects and puzzles were not too difficult, but they weren't too easy, either.

The point-and-click mechanics could use some work. It pretty much required clicking very carefully directly in front of the bug in the direction you want it to go. It could not find its own path when there were multiple ways to go. It would also turn around and go to a previous screen if the clicking was not precise enough.

There is one thing that takes a lot of fun out of this game: the final beetle slider puzzle. It's so difficult that there's a long discussion thread about it. Slider puzzles are games unto themselves. To put one into such a pleasant, casual game is just infuriating. Luckily, someone made a solver to end the insanity.

Still, it's a pleasant game to experience and admire.

Over-View
Morphopolis, a simple yet intriguing game. A pathway made to learn the morphology of the small creatures living in unseen ground. Playing a tiny creature gathering and evolving to the next stage. It is an abstract except realistic concept of evolution.

Presentation
You are first invited by the artistic style of visual artwork as you soon immerse into the world of insects. The visual layout is painted into 2-Dimensional layers which creates the 3-Dimensional atmosphere and depth. The colours are all earthy and saturated which emphasises the textural tone of the visual design. The creator really has brought out the artistic feel and paintings to life.

My sound was turned off so I cannot comment about the sounds. But I suggest that if it had peaceful and natural sounds that it would enhance the experience of being one with the insects of nature.

Plot
At first, especially during the tutorial, I had a vague understanding of story. Eventually as the levels progress you begin to understand a bit about the story. You begin as one small creature and each stage you are finding elements such as the insects prey (food) or items to assist the travel (to gain access by ‘giving/finding’ items) for the next creature. You crawl inside the head of the next creature and begin their journey. Resembling of life, there is not alot of text to guide but just the act of doing and completing the life-style of the insect.

Gameplay
You are set in these surreal 2-Dimensional layered artworks which is nature. Simple game of ‘eye-spy’ to progress adds to the simplicity of these game. The end level could be thought as the boss, but is basically a ‘simple’ puzzle to solve. Both getting progressively harder in each stage by either having more items to find, difficulty, and multiple items sets to find. It somewhat feels like a child-like game, but it’s creativity and puzzles, can be fun towards elderly people looking to burn some time.

Controls
The controls are fairly simply and all movement is controlled by a simple mouse clicks. The character moves by holding down the mouse as the character moves towards it. This development of movement is a really nice touch towards the essence of the lower level world. However I do have to complain that there is no quicker movement. Travelling back screens if you missed pieces is very tedious as you are trapped in the sluggish movement of your creature, but at least it does give some reason on how these bugs move. That they travel at their own pace and shouldn’t be rushed. Controlling movement around objects and towards areas can be fiddly as the direction is not always accurate when you want to turn above and right except it just goes straight up. ( -.- )... At least it has a unique style of movement and is a patient game as you find the items.

To complete it section you need to collect items, these items can be collected by the power of your mouse. By clicking on the items required they are instantly added to your ‘inventory’ of sorts. Simple mechanic but effective. It plays really well to the calm aspect of the game.

Replayability
It is unlikely to replay the game after it is finished. The story will not change and levels just become easier. You can replay in the sense of finding the items again or redoing the puzzles but there is no real reason to replay the story again.

Achievements are progressive achievements (get it as you play) as they are all story-based. After each level completed you should be awarded an achievement and 100% completing this game can be done with ease.

Overall
Simple, yet fun game. Curiosity to the insect world brings interest to this game. I really enjoyed the artwork and solving the puzzles (totally did not google them, I’m smart I swear). It really engages the players down to the small level and this game should be played. I would have really liked more elements to the game such as story content.

Nicely drawn world. Mix of HOG and point and click. Feel like most of the playtime is spent walking slowly from screen to screen but for .50c sale price, you couldn't ask for much more.
