Make no mistake, this game is not good.

It is, however, a throwback to a simpler time. Back when we didn't google for reviews and gameplay footage before we bought a game. Or we didn't buy games ourselves at all.
My mom got this game for me when I was 12. She didn't know anything about video games, but knew that I liked the ones with soldiers in them. I didn't have a point of reference for what made a good game or a bad game, having never really played any good ones at the time. So she brought this home, and I played it. And it was awesome. Sure, the graphics were crap and the voiceacting was laughable and all that, but right then, as I played it, it was the best game ever.

So I saw it on steam the other day. And I bought it, and played it again. The options-menu contains nothing of use, only resolutions that don't actually exist, no texture settings, and a very confusing key-binding section. The game is poorly optimized, and barely runs on a modern PC. The framerate is too high, which screws up the cutscenes and makes voice-clips play atop one another. The game has a cover system, but it's entirely useless since enemies die in one or two hits, and their AI is simplistic, at best. The controls are floaty and fast, and the gunplay is limp. And it's the best. It's an absolutely awesome throwback to a time where I was a kid, and games didn't have to be any good to be fun.

I don't know if you'll enjoy this one if you don't have any nostalgia for it, but if you're looking to waste a few hours with some fun, dumb, poorly made run'n'gun action, I can think of nothing better to play. It's pretty awful, and I love it for that.

Ok, I can say this is a game that aged a bit graphics wise BUT that doesnt impact the gameplay, the game is fast paced and may require trial and error.

Just a tip though, when the launcher appears change the grenade switching controls, it will be bound to page up and page down.

Perhaps you have already played CTSF series on gameboy advance. Those games was similar to Metal Slug series but this time CTSF:FFE is a third person shooter. Raptor and Stealth Owl are back and now in 3D world.
And certainly gameplay changed a lot-
  • No more infinite pistol ammo. And unlike other shooter games you cannot pick up weapons and ammo from enemies. Ammo conservation bothers me all the time.
  • Our heroes can jump in 2D world but now in 3D world they cannot jump. That could be good news - you don't need to jump across gaps. But falling damage still exists.
  • Our heroes have more gameplay differences. In 2D world the only difference between the two is their special weapon: Raptor's special weapon was a grenade launcher while Stealth Owl's special weapon was a shotgun. Now Raptor has a energy shield, and Stealth Owl have a optical camoflage and a multi-functional nightvision similar to Sam Fisher.
But the cloak mode is useless. Enemy sniper will shoot you on sight even a mile away. They don't yell "come out and fight" at the yankee coward. They just know you are there. If enemies spot you before you switch on cloak they can still see you after you cloak. And the N3-S rifle (actually M4) sight reticle just disappear after cloaking.
And the energy shield seems cannot block explosions. If ever an enemy fires a rocket at you you will die instantly unless you roll twice to one direction. The explosion radius is so large, and if you get caught in the radius you will just die. You don't receive less damage enough for you to survive.
  • Only Stealth Owl can perform HALO jump. This time you don't need to control the height and position to open the chute. The free fall phase become an independent level and enemies will try to attack you - they will drop some soldiers falling with you and launch SAMs locking on you. So what's the point of the air drop? With an F-117 stealth bomber? Covert insertion with enemy already know your presence?
  • Bullets travel far more faster.
  • Cover system.
And I have to admit the vehicle control is terrible. It's similar to Borderlands, vehicle will try to turn and move to the direction your mouse pointing at. But most parts of the map is narrow. There is a level controling a hovercraft in a flooded city. I always got stuck.
I don't think this game is bad but I wouldn't give it a positive review either.

Minimal System Specs
Tutorial is useful
In theory it's fun ... if you like FPS games
Most of the keys can be remapped
Single player

$10 for a game that should be $2 (tops)
Dated graphics that fit nicely with the sub-par story line.
Cannot screen capture, no cards, etc.
Limited graphics options
Controls are not good (not percise)
Reallllly needs multi-player or Co-Op. Then the game may be fun.

Overall: 5/10 -1 for controls, -1 for price, -1 for story, +1 for system specs = 3/10 (Get when on sale for 90% + off)

This is not a good game. It's not bad either. It's just a dated, overpriced ho hum FPS. Save your money and get a new game if your into FPSers. If you can get it for under $2 or in a bundle, give it a try. Otherwise just play something else on steam.

If you are a fan of the old Syphon Filter games (Remember that kick-♥♥♥ game?) you will probably enjoy this game.
It's nowhere near the quality of Syphon Filter, but gameplay-wise it's very similar.
Note: this game has a crappy Store Page's pictures that 95% probably will send you off.
But actually the game has nice PS2-era graphics in-game.

Now for the actual review:
For someone who grew up with PlayStation 1 and totally loved the Syphon Filter games i found this game fun.
I'm not a graphic-wh*re or harsh on old games on Steam. So because I played this type of games before is maybe the reason i liked this game. So put this in mind please.

CT Special Forces is a 3rd-person shooter games released in 2005 for PS2 and PC.
The game has hybrid of stealth and action gameplay, you can choose your style doing your missions.

- Two playable characters with good personalities each has their own gear and gadgets; different playstyle and gameplay.
- Story is alright, nothing mind-blowing though, but not a crappy one either.
- Game is fast-paced and fluid.
- Dozens of different weapons and grenades types.
- Unique gadgets and hi-tech items. Seriously there are many I've never seen before (i played tons of stealth games)
- Multiple vehicles to ride.
- For a PC port of an old game, the game is very stable and has a good launcher.

- Many common wide-screen resolutions are not supported.
- The checkpoint system. It doesn't save before the hard parts, and sometimes there is a long distance between 2 checkpoints.
- The last boss battle is a joke. really easy and lame.
- Game runs a bit faster than normal on modern PCs (~x1.5), but not a critical issue, i had no issue with it in the whole game.
- Many level-designs are more advantageous to the enemy more than you to the point you easily get killed because of bad position.
- The A.I is random. Sometimes it's alright sometimes it's stupid.
- Unfairly hard sometimes.
- Expensive

The game doesn't deserve a $10 price tag, so if you are thinking to get it, go for a sale.
For a $0.99 i say you could give the game a shot if you like old stealth games like Syphon Filter and Splinter Cell.

Recommended if you dont mind the few issues due to modern hardware

Issues being:
Does not lock the mouse to the game on dual monitor setups
Game runs a bit fast, not so bad in gameplay but FMV's can be a mess (VSync Forced on Overlay.exe may help)

I know ima get a lot of dislikes but i enjoyed the game a lot. These types of games brings me back to my good ole days. In 2005 i was playing area 51, evil dead regeneration, and Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas. During this time this game was a blast!! But, as time moves on, graphics get updated, and etc.. We become more picky on what games are fun now. Some go for graphics, some go for story, and etc. I enjoyed the game in 2005 and i enjoyed the game in 2015. Found some bugs, but they werent too big to mess me up.

This game is actually good, a game that should be offered to the kids of gamer parents.

I agree it sucks "for us" in this day and age. I beleive this is a port from a game made 10 yrs ago.

This game was nothing short of terrible. Yes, I only played about 10 minutes of it but that's all I could play before the game seemed to bug out. I got to the second part of the tutorial and it was telling me to back up against a wall and nothing was happening. That's not to say that even if I was able to play more I wouldn't give a similar review. The 10 minutes I spent in game were ridden with problems right from the beginning of the intro cutscene. The voice actors are terrible and constently interupt each other which makes the dialogue near impossible to understand because so many people are talking at once. Once you actually get in game, you soon discover that you're going to waste a lot of ammo when you shoot things. Why? Because the reticle travels at a much lower fps than the rest of the game which made it very hard to keep track of and was an overall eye sore. Even if the reticle weren't jerky as ♥♥♥♥ it may as well not even have been there because the bullets don't seem to follow it in any way. In fact, they don't seem to land anywhere near where you aim and the path that they take to get there is like a toddler trying to draw a straight line because physics be damned.

OVERALL: Even though it seemed like a decent game in theory, there were way too many technical issues and bugs to make it enjoyable and I didn't even talk about the incredibly outdated graphics.
