Updated with Character Pack & More

August 22nd, 2014

IGB has been updated today with our first round of animated pixel characters and clothing. The content for the characters will most likely double as time passes. As a little something extra, avatars of some characters are being released with them. More avatars will also be added later.

* Any graphic packs we ever make will be added to the IGB. If you want to support the project, there is 40% discount running right now.

There have been some other additions to the space asset area as well. Stay tuned for more updates.

About the Software

Indie Graphics Bundle is a content pack comprised of modular graphic .PNG files that can be combined, remixed, or modified to create your own sprites. The current pack includes over 10,000 graphic files with more to come.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The IGB is not a game or software application

To be fully utilized, it needs an imaging editing program or game engine. Our graphics have already been tested in many Game Engines available on Steam. The IGB is great for game prototyping, placement graphics, or final product.

Key Features:

1) Create Unique Creations - On purchase, you receive 10,000 graphic files. Some pre-made assets are provided, but mostly you will want to make your own so your games will look different. Our current plans are to reach 20,000 graphics files. We have artists that will be working non-stop to provide free updates for a long time.

2) License - Use the Steam IGB Package for your game, web, print, or other commercial development project. All assets are royalty free, no hidden costs.

3) New Content - Content evolves depending on support. Get us to work on what you specifically want.

4) Full Access - You may edit, manipulate, and change the graphics in any way for use with your game development. Some Photoshop files included.

The idea of making a bundle of graphics for amateur game developers is all right, but the pricing is way to high. a fair price for this bundle would be 20-30 euros in my opinion.

I am just reviewing all the files in the bundle and I have to say I am a bit disappointed. There is certainly well made, usable stuff in there. But on the other hand, there is also a lot of clutter.

Worst example are the gems, its 13 gems with most having 120 individual files that only differ in angle. Unless you really really (really really really ...) need a glowing, rotating gem, thats 1400+ junk files right there. Also lots and lots of of 3d renders that unfortunately look way too much like 3d renders. Particularly the land builder: it looks like someone just hit the "render me a lot of colourful, complex chunks"-button and thats the first 270 files that came out.

For me, the good stuff is mostly the interface builder and the rpg interface. Usuable, versatile and sometimes even elegant. The medieval part of weapon builder seems useful too. If you are interested in building plattformers or shmups there is also a lot of valuable resources. Character builder might be useful too, however as of now I dislike the style and selection. Example: all kinds of colorful armor in red and gold and samurai stuff and whatnot, yet the good old leather armor is nowhere to be found. Plus the base chars all look like fat 9 year olds in diapers. I haven't tried yet but I don't think any amount of samurai armor can fix that :-D

The reason I give an overall "not recommended" is because the useful resources are too far spread over different genres and styles. There is something for everyone in here, but not enough for any specific project to warrant the price tag - Except maybe for plattformers. I know this is not yet finished and I am only reviewing the current status of the bundle. I hope there will be more decent pixel art and no more mediocre renders.

In any case you should take a careful look at the preview pictures here and the separate packs before you buy this. Make sure the overall style in your prefered genre suits you. Even then you might be better off buying one or two of the separate packs.

Definitely not what I was expecting. Please read the "About the Software" This is NOT a software, its simply a collection of art which could be used in small indie games or at least placeholder art until you get an artist or 2 to do stuff for you.
I don't regret getting this product as it is still helping me come up with ideas of what I would want in my games, but if you are looking for a software to create unique artwork, this is NOT the way to go.

I do feel the "About the Software" is a little bit misleading, since this is not a software nor does it provide you the ability to create "unique" graphics. I suppose if you call different combinations of the same stuff "unique" it could work.

Excellent package for prototyping a game, getting it to a stage to get investment for art if it's a big production, good enough and large enough variety of art for small scope games. I'm excited to see this product grow: I hope they add more pure prototype kind of art.
