Backstory

Marine is young - too young to endeavor great things.
But Marine is a fighter and she refuses to accept fate.
Because her fate is to be a peasant and probably die young - a disease, or a predator, whatever, you always die of something in the murky lands of Myst.

So when her father is critically injured, Marine decides to fight back and take over the crusade he can no longer pursue.
Which crusade? To challenge the feared Lords of Mystrock, the rich megalopolis of Myst, and defeat them in a traditional showdown that decides the rulers of the world.
Everybody keeps telling Marine it's impossible and she'll end up swatted like a fly.
But what do YOU think?

I enjoy the game from the Aldorlea Games.
It seems to be their main style of RPG, but each of their new game is not like the previous one.
Millennium - A New Hope-the best of the game, just as the incentive of five parts of the millennium, and since you bought and held the first part, then you should also play in the other, you will not regret it!
It is worth noting thoughtful story, panache and music.

This entire series is terrible. There is no storyline - most main characters have some motivation, this one sees some squirrels ♥♥♥♥ing and decides to change the world because of it.
The gameplay is the most boring, falling-apart-at-the-seams rpg maker trash possible and it never gets better, and the music is only palatable. The best part? It's being sold for $30. At least buy an AAA with some replay value if you really want to ♥♥♥♥ away that much, ffs.

Oh, and it contains some of the most ridiculously unfunny forced humor of any game this decade apart from Undertale

Initial Thoughts: 10 Hours (see below)
Keep in mind I'm playing on hard.
  • This is possibly the most poorly balanced rpg I've ever played. The battles are horribly slow unless you turn on a menu option to increase the speed of the animations to 150%.

  • It seems neither Marine nor Benoit have enough useful skills to properly combat enemies. The most useful skill Marine has is "Call Jeanne" which summons a fairy like creature that can attack multiple enemies and heal to great effect. This in theory could overpower a player if it weren't possible for enemies to kill a character before you can summon the fairy and give it a command. I often found myself summoning it using it to heal twice then letting it attack. Some enemies are also totally immune to it's attack (I just used to to heal in those instances).

  • Items, gold, and even the use of skills is at a premium here. You have to be extremely careful not to run out of healing items, revival items, and SP (Magic) restorative items.
This situation is exasperated by the lack of gold to buy such items with and the limited areas provided to restore health and SP. I swear when I started this game it took me FOREVER to get to an area with a bed that let you "free-style sleep" to fully restore. When I found one it was located fairly deep in a town and was real annoying to get back to between grinding. (I've stricken something here because healing items are actually a bit more prevalent if you use the monster meats dropped to heal).

  • SAVE OFTEN is something you hear sometimes with rpg's this game takes that to another level. I'd recommend saving every 10 steps pretty much and running away from many battles.

  • Every time you get a game over the game displays a screen that has an old mans face on it and the text "You need to try harder".
    Eat me game.

  • Steam overlay doesn't work. Screenshots don't work with F12. (At least F12 only pauses the game here I've seen some Rpg Maker titles bind it to load last save or reset).

  • I used an Xbox360 controller to play. The D-Pad does not work and the analog is far to sensitive while navigating the menu. This is an rpg, the D-Pad should work.

  • I've actually fallen asleep 3 times playing this game. I'm not critical enough to simply call it boring, but I might say it's pretty boiler plate as far as rpg's go.
I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone else. Now excuse me while I get back to playing it.

This game does not support anything but 4:3 ratio screens. If you have a 1080p monitor (or anything not from the 90’s) you’re out of luck; you must either go out of your way to figure out how to force the aspect ratio to not stretch to fit the screen or deal with the stretching during gameplay. If you manually (there is no in game option) change the settings from fullscreen to windowed mode then the window is unplayably small.
There is no options menu at the start, no keybinding, no support for anything other than keyboard (unless you manually change the .ini file to enable a mouse).
I can't comment on gameplay, because I couldn't bring myself to look past the abhorrent laziness in development that slaps you in the face just in the few first seconds of starting the game.
Sure, it's a cheap (inexpensive) game, but does it really have to be cheap (low quality)?

Love the concept of this indie rpg. The storyline was great and it had a rather good battle system. But you know, somehow, difficulty levels are quite aummm unusual in this game. I cannot for the life of me defeat one of the animal kings and I am sure I chose the NORMAL mode, also took me a while to understand what the orb colours meant as well as I found characters to be completely useless at times. But, honestly, it was a great storyline, dont know why it is split into 5 parts. It would have been lovely to just buy the whole package and be done instead of part 1 - 5. However, it you are looking for something with enjoyable characters and storyline with about 12 hours to complete then you can pick this up. Also it is inexpensive as well so hey, why not...

This was a fun little game that I enjoyed greatly. The story is a simple one of a girl trying to come up with a way to change things in the world. The characters are entertaining, the dungeons have interesting designs and the battles are fun. It's a good start to what looks like will end up as a very epic adventure.

A great representative of the genre RPG. Very interesting conversations, many locations. I like good music, thanks to the developers for a pleasant musical accompaniment) For me it is very important to be able to keep the gameplay ... in this work the ability to save the game industry is possible at any time, which is not often seen in retro-RPG. Do you like to achieve? I really love. The game has a lot of achievements, this is another plus of this game. The game is fully consistent with price. Very good RPG, a good developer, good price. What else do you need? Play))

It's a rather short, if fun little RPG. Those who might be put off by the length should remember that it's the first entry in a series of five separate games. Another thing to note for players keen on immersion are jarring moments when the 'tone' of the game becomes very humorous and tongue-in-cheek, almost to the point of self-parody. This contribues to the game's charm, but it can be irritating to some.

This game has a weird mix of acceptable art and really amateurish graphics of varying, often not very matching styles.
It also has an odd mix of a versatile interface with many features like mouse navigation (unusual for older RPG Maker games), but then the mouse navigation feels odd with the cursor moving slow and sluggish and things generally not being as snappy as you would expect and the interface also feels slightly messy.
It also starts off with an acceptably engaging intro, but then throws you into a large map with absolutely no indication about what you should be doing, not even an obvious pressing quest that catches your immediate attention - which makes it lose the initial momentum built up from the intro.

Generally it just seems like it might have been born out of a good, grand vision, but then suffered from many many uneven bumps in its execution turning it into a quite mediocre game. If the developer went back to the drawing board and figured out all the small but many details wrong with it, I think it could be easily turned into an enjoyable niche game - but as it is, I wouldn't recommend it.

One of the few RPG games that really want to play. The Millennium - A New Hope has it all: interesting characters, dialogues, interesting locations and thoughtful story, which is rare in most games of this genre.
Game of the studio Aldorlea Games, though the structure is similar to other games RPG Maker, but the original, addictive game, I want to read the dialogue, it would be desirable to explore the world and its surrounding.
There's achievement, cards, SteamCloud.

So I haven't played many rpgmaker games, but if you are a fan I would recommend this one!
As part of a series their is much to do, much to explore and many secrets to find.
I liked the art design and it felt well put together for a indie rpgmaker game.

I would give it 7/10 definitely worth giving it a chance.
Plus who doesn't like getting to play as a girl.

A wonderful start to a story of determination against the odds; a young girl trying to make a better life for family and friends against prejudice and bureaucracy. scenery is beautiful and there are quests and hidden rooms throughout the story. there is humour in the story as well. the game allows the player to chose which game mode and the choice of visible or invisible foes. music is appropiate to the overall story. love the swamp and the crocodiles. This first episode introduces 3 characters plus the main one (and a special friend) and sets the path for the next editions. To get the overall feeling of the story it is best to play the whole series. Would recommend to those who like a challenge and a good story.

Ja, richtig gelesen, man darf hier sogar so etwas auswählen!

Lediglich in Sachen Story und Hauptcharakter konnte mich Millennium – A New Hope nicht überzeugen.

- toller Soundtrack
- vorbildliches Questlog, ordentliche Menge an Quests und Secrets
- interessante Möglichkeiten der Charakterverbesserung

Kontra:
- Story recht hanebüchen und kindisch
- unsympathischer Hauptcharakter
- Episoden-Format.
