A small southeast Asian nation is in the throes of civil war, but its concentrated deposits of neutron polymer are about to make the conflict a worldwide affair.

  • Eliminate robotic foes with your Gunhound across multiple stages of mayhem.

7min of this game (there is a full run of each of the 5 levels on my channel)

this is a 2d side scroller.
in a nut shell you run right, kills stuff, and try not to get hit yourself through 5 levels and some training ones (7 i think).
your mech has a dash, a gun, and a fist or you can flip your gun for 2 other weapons and most can be aimed in any direction in a half circle.
you can also drop your armor at any time to go into lightweight mode but its only useful during the heli-carrier takedown sub mission after level 3.
you can unlock new weapons for all your slots by getting more points so here is your starting weapons and all unlocks:
main: gatling gun and you can unlock a shotgun (bullets are spread out more), & a 3 way gun
sub/arm: fist (shot range & can destroy bullets) and you can unlock iron claw (when active this will auto punch when bullets are near), hand grenade (throws a grenade forward), gatling claw (fires after you punch), clutch fist (stronger), & a ballistic shield (as tall as your mech)
Anti-air: twin rifles (2 strong forward shots), and you unlock a shotgun (hits everything in a forward half circle), napalm thrower (sprays out to about mid range), & grenade launcher (throws 2 grenades)
sub anti-air: quad sam (fires 4 missals but you need a lock on or they just go strait), and you unlock xvi naval cannon (fires shells upward), 35mm aa autocannon (fires bullets upward), beam cannon (charge this to fire a large energy beam), twin seeker sam (fires 2 missiles that will seek out a target)
you can also change your color or start in lightweight mode (faster but you take more damage)

the controls take a bit to get used to, mainly the angled shooting and not being able to flip (left to right or vice versa) when firing.
it's also got some good music and some nice Japanese voice acting.

Feels like an arcade game with its absurd difficulty and somewhat short length. Great boss fights and the levels are all pretty fun. The controls are a little clunky at first, but once you figure them out it feels like you've mastered a real mech, which is fun as hell.

Very fun game, very similar to the old mech games from the SNES era such as Cybernator and Metal Warrior if you are fortunate to have played them. The ability to customize your mech with different weapons and even change the color scheme is also a nice feature to have even though I have not unlocked any new stuff they do give you a couple things to start with.

I will say that the only negative I can think of at the moment would be that the zero gravity missions have a very wonky feel to them as I have a hard time aiming and not spinning but this is most likely due to me not having enough practice with the controls.

So if you are a fan of old retro side scrolling mech games I think this game will fit the bill as I have not seen anything like this since the old SNES days.

Featured in Episode 99 of Bullet Heaven HD!

***We love our mecha-based run-and-gunners here on Bullet Heaven, and while Gigantic Army was well and good, we always had deep, tearful feelings for Gunhound EX, but she'd always been just out of our grasp. Thankfully, Playism (Active Gaming Media) has brought this fast-paced, super polished shooter west... but how does it stack up?***

This game is great- it's a modern take on the Cybernator \ Assault Suits Valken \ Metal Warriors kind of shooter.

You pilot a "realistic" style mech (think something out of VOTOMS) and blast the hell out of anything in your way. The controls feel really good and weighty, the music is great, and it's just plain old fun.

If you like mecha, or quality 2D shooting games, get this. It's like a gem you'd find on the PS1.
