Why Early Access?

“We believe early access can be a highly valuable option for us at this stage since it would enable us to get real feedback from the early adopters and select the best tweaks to make this a great game for the rather hard core PC gamers. We use game analytics services and the indirect data from the user behavior is another major factor that can help us in the design of the PC version of the game.

We are working on a user level editor for the PC version. We can make sure its features are what the users can easily use to make new levels for Shadow Blade. Direct feedback from the players would help us very much in tuning the level editor.”

How long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for 3 months. If some community positive feedback requires us to modify or add other things that we have not planned at the moment, we could extend the Early Access phase to 5 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have more levels, complete local multi-player features, more integration with steam features like workshop, leaderboards, achievements and cloud and game modes and more polished overall.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game can be enjoyed with limited levels. The basics of the level editor are usable.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the price will be the same during the early access period and after the final release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“A. We need to find the proper game balance for the PC gamers interested in the platforming genre. We have two possible options to increase the challenge and fun for the PC players:

1 – Adding certain elements to the combat and enhancing the enemy AI. (More depth to combat)
2 – Modifying the level structure and increasing the platforming challenges in the game.

We have a lot of ideas for fine tuning the game that fall in the above categories.
We would like to listen to our audience and incorporate their feedback into our future development sprints.

B. We believe that providing a level editor for the players so that they can create their own levels and share it with everyone else on steam can be a highly valuable feature. We have the initial design for the level editor but we need to make sure it has the right features and the necessary usability for the average players to make their own levels. We are planning to polish the level editor with the help of the community and direct feedback from them.

C. Selecting the best levels made by the community and integrating them in the main game will enhance the value of the final product very much and also provide value for the community in general.

D. The game event data we gather from every play session contains gameplay related information like player death locations. These data that are generated from the play sessions of the community can help us refine and enhance the levels and ensure the game has the proper pacing for PC players.

E. In case there is additional modding interest from the community, we can expand the modding features from new game levels to player avatar and enemy mesh/animation changes and level art modifications.”

Shadow Blade is a fast paced action platformer where speed, accuracy and brutality are equally important.

Gone from the days of gaming are the distilled shots of adrenaline and the twitch based action from titles such as Shinobi or Strider that pressed us to try again and again. Now replaced with fluff and filler, the complex tutorials and drawn-out narratives that take the place of what could be great gameplay. Shadow Blade follows in the spirit of the aforementioned hacknslash titles with it's to-the-point levels and their memorable designs.

Shadow Blade: Reload is a speed runner's paradise, through and through.

It includes all of the usual markings you'd expect from a solid action game from it's straight-forward yet deceptive level designs, to the quick arcade-like combat and addictive score chasing incentives. Your initial runs will be easy but they will be sloppy, and as you play you'll discover tricks and shortcuts that make conquering your past efforts a serious treat. The levels come in bite-sized pieced which keep the pace perfect and easy to jump into again and again to tackle your previous scores.

With 60 levels and counting set across 4 differently themed stages and a wealth of modes like easy and robust level-editor and a multiplayer Race mode for up to 4-players that brings Speed Runners style competition, this is already showing some serious potential in it's Early Access state as it continues to receive updates.

It's also received a hefty amount of changes and polishes to the combat since it's highly acclaimed mobile origins, most importantly the layer of depth and strategy added by Shurikens for well planned ranged shots, effecting how you approach each situation. With the addition of new levels, more secrets, more exploration and features, it's easily worth it even for those who have played the hell out of the original version.

Seemingly simple first glance, Shadow Blade really begins to shine as the player revisits past stages and begins to explore it's possibilities for a faster run. There are loads of hard to spot tricks and little shortcuts that will cut down on your time, and going back to discover them and besting your previous scores just feels really good. All in all, this is the kind of game that should be played from the perspective of a speed runner to be enjoyed to it's full extent.

Shadow Blade: Reload hits the spot and keeps you coming back for more long after you've overcome the obstacles of it's many cunning levels.

This game is quite enjoyable. It’s fast, fun and often requires quick thinking. There are a ton of levels and a bunch of unique mechanics that can really be challenging at times. I particularly liked how upping the difficulty morphs the level – giving it harder paths, adding more traps, but it still has the same general layout. The controls feel responsive, the animations are nice and the music and sound effects are pretty cool too.

There’s even a degree of replayability, as you can always go back and try and beat your best scores on levels you’ve already completed, and if the devs end up adding leaderboards like they are planning to it will only add to that. Also, this is one of the few games that actually has a level editor. As it stands though, the editor is quite basic so could definitely do with a bit more stuff in it (I will update this bit if it changes upon the games release). Anyway, I’ve had a ton of fun with this and would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s into the Side-Scrolling Action-Platformer type genre.

What I like most about Shadowblade, is that even though you can have a lot of fun casually beating levels, a completely new kind of gameplay begins when you decide to do everything absolutely perfect. And when you do that, you can see the mastery of a real ninja on the screen. So much that you can watch your screen capture video for every single level and enjoy them all!

Shadow Blade: Reload is the PC version of the highly rated mobile title of the same name. It's a fast paced ninja platformer.

Despite getting mostly all low grades on my first playthrough, I was still able to beat the game without becoming too frustrated thanks to well placed checkpoints. Your fast movement and attacks allow for fluid gameplay without the need to stop, not even to kill an enemy. Double jumping and dashing is a great way of traversing the diverse maps that are currently set in 4 different environments. At the moment there is a total of 60 normal levels, with more on the way. Each level features obstacles, such as traps or minions. Enemies can be dispersed by using your blades or the ever-so-useful shurikens.
