About This Game

In the old days man tried to catch a glimpse of the future in the strangest of ways.

Experience the ancient Swedish phenomena of year walking through a different kind of first person adventure that blurs the line between two and three dimensions, as well as reality and the supernatural.

Venture out into the dark woods where strange creatures roam, on a vision quest set in 19th century Sweden. Solve and decipher cryptic puzzles, listen for clues, and learn about mysterious folklore creatures in the built-in encyclopedia as you seek to foresee your future and find out if your loved one will ever love you back.

Mysteries and clues await everywhere in Year Walk, but to fully understand the events that took place on that cold New Year's Eve, you will have to delve deeper than the adventure and lose yourself between fact and fiction.

• New locations within the game
• Map
• Updated art
• New puzzles
• Integrated Encyclopedia about the mysterious myths and creatures encountered in the game
• Hint system

Year Walk is one of those rare bits of media that lingers in your mind long after you've finished it. It makes you feel like a part of you is missing after you've finished it and, like a junkie, you become desperate for more. Don't let the "ending" fool you. There's more. Find the Journal. Open the box. It's not too late.

You know what to do.

If you're into creepy mythologic stories, (this one touches swedish/scandinavian folklore) you should give it a go. The game is rather short, but it does its job. I had a jump-scare at some point, but the rest is just chills down the spine, "oh my god did stuff like this really happen", kind of game. I loved it, the only SHORTcoming being its length.
The artwork is wonderful and so is the music. 10/10 no regrets!

A short horror-puzzle game based on Swedish folklore. Keep paper and something to write with nearby... but be careful who sees your notes or they may think you are descending into madness.

I love reading the lore and figuring out the puzzles on my own. I enjoyed it very much, BUT it is a VERY short game. So keep that in mind. It has a unique way of moving around that takes a bit to get used to. It is a fresh way of looking at "side" scrollers.

Year Walk is an absolutely brilliant point-and-click game with beautiful art & music, simple puzzles, creepy atmosphere, and a surprising amount of depth for what was originally an iPhone app before it came to Steam. to fully enjoy Year Walk you'll need a pen and paper, the Year Walk Companion app on your phone, a pair of headphones and a dark room. from start to finish, the game took me a little over an hour. read the encyclopedia, take notes, remember every shape you see.

oh, and the end of the game isn't actually the ending -- wait through the credits and the story expands into even creepier territory.

Man. Year Walk ten-times were SCAWWIEE!

Real talk for a sec, not long, I promise.
This is an interesting game, and I really don't wanna say much cause, ♥♥♥♥in' spoilers and ♥♥♥♥. But regardless, this game is REALLY damn good. The art style is awesome and abstract, the atmoshpere is spot on, and the story while interesting is really sad and distubring. It's not a long game, and there's no shame in using Google for answers to some of the puzzles. Be wary, however, this game has some REALLY well-timed jump scares.

Give this game a whirl, I think you'll really like it!

This would be the first negative review I've given a game. Year walk is more story than game, with intentionally difficult to navigate environments and cryptic illogical puzzles. The music, art style and the jump scares are delightful, but the actual playing of the game is just an excercise in tedium. Once I found out that this was a phone game, the poor interface made a bit more sense. For a person with hundreds of games in his library, I regret purchasing this one.

Year Walk is really atmpshperic and immerses you into its world. Now that would be nice if ( negative aspecs coming ! )
-> I wasnt too short ( i mean 20 minutes gameplay ) That would aslo not be a problem you cant skip it as it is too expensive !!!
I even got this on Halloween Sale for 3.95 for a 20 min gameplay , while u get the Witcher at 1.95 !!!

I KNOW u should support small developers , that's why i bough it , BUT that mark didnt quite hit the mark of my expectation , thus the negative vote :/

Super creepy and highly interesting, with puzzles that reward the observant. I love it when games manage to pull off a "show, don't tell" narrative in such an effective way.

If Twin Peaks had been set in late-19th-century Sweden, it might have resembled Year Walk. Add in a distinctive art style, some clever (but not too challenging) puzzles, and a few jump scares -- we end up playing, excuse me, a damn fine cup of coff... adventure game.

Find a way to open the box.
