Too much clicking

Pros:
  • Good concept
  • For army forces fans
  • Good tactical game for casual play
  • SteamOS / Linux

Cons:
  • The UX sucks
  • Too much clicking
  • No keyboard shortcuts
  • No antialiasing
  • Crappy water
  • Cannot change a member of squad
  • Achievements broken on Linux

Verdict: Get it on sale if you like it. - 6/10
Else go enjoy a good kebab or pizza.

I'm kinda torn on Breach & Clear. It does some things right, but it is also lacking in other ways. It manages to deliver a solid tactical experience against a backdrop of beautifully rendered (and diverse) hand-crafted maps.

At the end of the day, however, I had fun playing Breach & Clear. It managed to genuinely entertain me. I'm just glad that didn't pay full price. I'd recommend you wait for a sale and do the same.

I like the game, simply because it keeps me occupied. You get to be the team leader and guide your team through missions, you don't have to be able to use a gun for this, you just need good planning skills. I like it.

A great Strategy simulation, love the fact that I can change the guns name to whit i want, for examply a pump shotgun to big blasta. 10/10 would play again.
Points to improoove:
a leader board would be appreciated or some sort of mutiplayer would really add some replay value to the game.
But don't get me wrong the singleplayer missions are great and can be replayed at different angles but it does get a bit boring plying by muself.

This game is REALLY cool! It's short fun and easy to play. Squads look great and the gameplay is solid and very replayable. B&E is like the board game version of CS:GO, except you always play CT. The squads are diverse enough to varry game play, but share the same basics to keep strategy similar on the same levels. Game is easily worth 10 or more hours of play and should is definately worth the sale price!

This game reminds me of a game named Mordern Tactics. I'd say Breach And Clear is more difficult, and of course, more fun at the same time.
I'd rate it 10/10, worth buying and excellent

I really recommend this game, especially for the sale price. It is alot of fun and im not even done with it I just had to make a review for it as it is alot of fun. If you enjoy xcom, but you don't really like the aliens this is the game for you.
You choose your squad type from a selection of real squads and you make 4 characters which you can choose different types for like Medic,Breacher,Fireteam leader, etc. and there are 3 gamemodes but my personal favourite is "Terroris Hunt" where you have to breach into a building and clear all the enemy's. This game has leveling for your troops and when they level you get to allocate points to stats and also at some certain levels you can unlock abilities for your troops.
The loadout customisation is also very good as you go through missions and earn money that you can spend in the maketplace and buy item's like helmets, vest and weapons, as for weapons you can also but addons for weapons like silencers, sights, flashlights and more that all add stats to your chatacter.
This game is definately alot of fun and especially for the sale price I really recommend that you get it. And if you do. enjoy :)

Buy it now! The sale price is a steal! That said, it's only a steal if you get it on sale. The game is not terribly amazing, but it is good. It's just that there aren't a hell of a lot of games like it.

Another great game similar to this is Doorkickers. Another horrible game similar to this is Arma Tactics.

> advertised as a military training program used by real operatives to simulate real situations
> has a levelling up system, critical hits, and very limited movement

I guess it's still worth 2 euros, and you can have some fun with it despite it becoming mind-numbingly boring after half an hour. Either way, I'm still unhappy that this was not the tactical simulator chess game I thought it would be. If you like X-COM more than SWAT/Rainbow Six, I'd say this game is for you, otherwise, don't bother.

I got this game in a bundle and it was fun to make the standard maps. But it got too frustrating over time.

If you, like me, are a fan of the genre (tactical turn-based squad strategy games) then this is definitely a gem!
Similar games: SWAT 2, Jagged Alliance, XCom-series, Deadline, Door Kickers, Arma Tactics

However! In comparison to most of them, this game lacks alot of complexity, depth, the missions in this game are quite small. It is rather a small game focused on the encounters, plan your attack and execute it.

The tutorial was very easy to understand, the game interface is simple and intuitive.
The sheer amount of equipment available makes it interesting to replay missions, being able to try new tactics to finish them.

Graphics are quite nice.
Sound/music is good.
Character customization feels adequate.
Good weapon customizations.

I understand that the game is converted from mobile, which seems like a good job, however some more hotkeys would be lovely.

(Check my profile for screenshots)

Reminds me in a good way of classics like SWAT 2.

Finally someone who is able to revive the genre! This game coupled with Door Kickers are the only hope left.

This game is basically Frozen Synapse, except with detailed graphics and soldiers that are modelled after real-life counterterrorism squads. This is not inherently a bad thing, but it should be noted that this game does a few things differently:

Firstly, you have less control over your soldiers than you do in Synapse. Sometimes your soldiers will feel like doing things that you didn't tell them to do. This can sometimes be good, other times bad. For example, I sighed relief when one of my soldiers was smart enough to turn around and shoot at an enemy that had flanked him, but other times I wished that he would keep his original target and let his buddies take care of the bad guys creeping up on him.

Secondly, there is no way to order your soldiers to wait. This can be a problem if you want to synchronize time-sensitive manuevers (for example, rushing into a room after your teammate's flashbang has blown). You can order your soldier to walk in a little circle to burn time, but that's not always viable when you're pinned down by enemies. This means that the tactical aspect is a little watered-down compared to Synapse.

Thirdly, this game has character progression. Soldiers accumulate experience, gear, and level-up. This process is fairly enjoyable, and there is also an extensive character customization system which allows you to pick your soldiers' clothes, hats, weapons, accessories, etc (there are no female characters are available though, which is somewhat disappointing). Synapse had none of this.

Fourthly, there is no "preview" feature. This is unfortunate, because planning attacks before you finalized your turn was an extremely useful feature in Synapse. In Breach & Clear, you just kinda have to visualize everything beforehand and roll the dice. Sometimes this is fine, as this game is far more forgiving than Synapse is - You won't die in one hit if you make a mistake, for example, as all your soldiers have health and evasion stats that help them survive longer.

Lastly, there is no multiplayer. At all. Which sucks. This game seems perfect for playing with your friends, but instead you only have the option of playing against the lackluster AI.

So, I'm kinda torn on Breach & Clear. It does some things right, but it is also lacking in other ways. Frozen Synapse is a superior game overall, but it isn't going to give military genre fans their fix of atmosphere the way this game will.

In this respect, that's where this game does right - It does deliver a solid tactical experience against a backdrop of beautifully rendered (and diverse) hand-crafted maps.

So really, my choice to recommend this game comes down to the question of whether I had fun playing the game or not. At the end of the day, my answer is yes - I definitely did have fun playing Breach & Clear.

I'm just glad that I didn't pay full price. I'd recommend you do the same.
