Version 1.0.4, Build 6.2 - Split Decision!

Welcome to Version 1.0.4, Build 6.2 - Update #46!

We’ve got a few heavily requested features in the ACK this update, as well as added functionality for split-screen in the Home menu!

This will be our last update until February... Seon is taking his family away on a much deserved holiday (much deserved for them after putting up with his long work hours).

Main Menu Split-Screen (Experimental)
By popular request, you can now drop in and out of split-screen games in the Home Menu. This means that once a game starts in split-screen, the second player is kept in the game until they deliberately drop out, rather than being ejected from the game at the end of the adventure.

Menus like the Loot Shrine, Customise and Achievements are still accessible, however whoever opened the menu will have control over the UI. While a full-screen UI is open, the player not controlling the UI will have no input. Only the master player will be able to use the World Map. As the second player, to drop out of the game you’ll need to walk into the house.

This has been a pretty fundamental change to our Menu system, and while we’ve tested it extensively we can’t guarantee there won’t be any issues. This is an experimental feature so we are sure you'll find bugs, and if you do, please report any issues you see on the forums!

Logic Switches
Logic Switches are a new tool designed to let objects using the “old” logic system (switches, pressure plates) talk to objects in the “new” logic system (Triggers, Events and Actions). It can be found under Entities -> Logic Switch.

To set them up, just connect up to three switches to the logic switch the same way you would connect a switch to a gate, then open the Logic Switch inspector. There are two events that the Logic Switch will fire - “On Passed Conditions” and “On Failed Conditions”. Any time the state of any of the switches changes - one of those events will fire.

You can also change the expected state of the switch from the UI at the bottom of the inspector, so you create combination locks of switches.

Blockers
Blockers are a trigger-esque object that covers an area of the level in our Fog of War. They are set up and sized like a Trigger and will cover an area in fog until a character walks into it or it’s disabled via an event. Blockers can be found under Entities -> Blockers.

Notifications
Notifications are a new dialogue system that allows you to display an on-screen message to the entire party via an event. You can customise the text, colour and duration of the message via the inspector, and they can be found under Entities -> Notification.

Logic Switches, Blockers and Notifications are explained in the following video:

You know, telling your friends that you will go now and fight the dragon is not really advisable ;)
Anyway, the game is really fun hehe

Honestly i was really angry at the beginning, not knowing that some stuff is really hard as well as the fact that my chosen character was just bad -.-
But as soon as i got a deeper insight into the game i figuerd out, that it is a hell lot of fun.

The dragon? Ignore this dude he isnt worth your time.
Appreciate the awesome content created by your fellow FTD players!
Or just create awesome stuff on your own!

Well you gotta dungeon crawl and explore places and stuff, you can even invite 3 more players to wrek the enemies and solve riddles if there are any.
Or just relax, while playing some really easy adventures, no need to take on the extreme stuff on the first day...

Yeah you got 4 classes, FIghter, Fire Wizard, Ice Wizard and Rogue.
One for killing and tanking, one for burning and AOE damage, one for freezing and one for stealth and traps.

Fully customisable including, swords, axes (some throwable), hammers, spears (naginata bruh), wands, dual daggers/shortswords, ice&fire staffs, crossbows, shuriken, shields, defense spelltomes, helmets, chestarmor, boots, gauntlets and dragon rings (the big bad dragon drops dem ringz).

Then there is the ACK - Adventure Creation Kit -
EVERYONE CAN USE IT!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!1
Its easy and mostly self explantionary, even more complex events and triggers can be set up with little effort.
Sure you are limited in tiles and content, but THINK CREATIVELY!!!!
If you do, you can create awesome adventures, which will be loved and admired by those who play them!

Game visuals are all blocky and stuff, but it runs even on pretty old and on weak machines.
Unlike some other blocky games, this one got actually some curves hehe

If you think you cant be a good adventure dev, just look at me.
I never thought i would get better than a 3k+ devrank but now i am @ 129 devrank o.O
You just need to be CREATIVE and release well thought and balanced adventures. Not just mass produce overstuffed loot&xp farm levels...
Be careful tho, the community can report your stuff and the game devs will check your creations... and maybe ban it and block you from further publishing anything!

Now buy the game, rock the ACK and round up some friends to beat all the adventures!

You should buy this game. It is a heck of a deal for $15.00.

I have mine running on a Ubuntu 14.04.1 fork and it runs great. This is a highly polished game. Works very smooth in terms of bugginess. The combat is a little stiff but it isn't due to framerate issues. It detected my F310 logitech game pad right off and is made for a gamepad. The contruction kit can be controlled entirely with the gamepad, except for entering text. Really fun to use on 42 inches of screen real estate while sitting in a Lazy-boy.

Oh and connecting with friends over the internet and cross platform works great.

The game works great, now all they need to add is more graphics and entities to the game and they will really have something, but even as it stands now at full price it's great. Can't wait to see how this game develops. Hope they keep adding to it. So far the developers have been sticking with it. Buy a two pack and give one to your bud. Awesome game.

A classic dungeon hack n' slash game.
Create your own maps, play with friends, or even split screen co-op with another friend next to you.
Play maps made by friends or strangers.
This game is a little bit repetetive, but the contents in it are enjoyable. You'll get used to the combat system.
The dragon is tough, but not unbeatable.

Overall 9/10 would reccomend to friends.

Charming lil Action-RPG, focusing more on the casual gamer, with each adventure lasting 5-20 mins, and a campaign containing 3-4 or so adventures.

Its been very seldom in my PC-gaming life that I have discovered a true gem of a game. FTD is such a game. I will break it all down into three parts: single player, online play ( multi-player), and creative. But first one thing that strikes me from the start: the graphic design of the game is such that it will ( or should) run on low-end computers. The visuals are, for lack of a better term- quirky. Its like a cross between Legos games and LBW with a dash of WoW.

*Single player- In single player you go to an "adventure" screen where you can bring up an incredible assortment of maps to play on. It should be noted ( im guessing here) that over 90% of the availible maps are created BY OTHER PLAYERS. This is both a blessing and a curse: Player-made content is wide and varied. You may get a great and fun map; you may get one that was obviously made by a ADD 12-year old.

If you enjoy a player-made map, you can choose to "follow" that creator. This is a wonderful feature that highlights other maps made by favorite creators. Very nice feature.

* Multiplayer- I cannot honestly say I have much exp with this. Problem is that most of the games going are "closed" ( ie friends only). I have only been in one MP map and I got there near the end of the run. Overall it was ok.

* Creative- Now THIS is the reason why I think FTD is easily one of the best games in years; The UI that is used to make maps is very user-friendly. I have exp making maps for other games and its usually a bad learning curve. With ACK ( the map editor) I was making a map within 30 min of starting. You can "publish" ( make availble to other players) your creations via a simple-to-understand vetting process. This process ( I assume) is used to keep junk maps from being offered. It works....most of the time. You may still come across just plain bad maps.

The bad side ( there has to be one right?)- The selection of enemy ( monsters etc) to place in maps are VERY limited. For a sword & sorcery game not to include enemy human casters? There are no, say, "friendy" men-at-arm NPCs to use. The list goes on. I can hope that all this will be added in future ( and free!) DLC.

Overall- Simple but effective combat system, graphics that are cute but not kiddy, an incredible creative tool, and MP options to boot.

I hope the devs of FTD get really REALLY rich, because they actually DESERVE it!

This is a really fun hacknslash for the price. Reminds me of cubeworld graphics and effects. What I like is the fact the adventures are short and doesn't suck up alot of time. I also love the adventure creator and how they have stats for the adventures you have published. I hope as time goes on they keep adding to it.

An enjoyable action-RPG. The game is initially somewhat difficult due to a lack of ranged weapon availability. Once you pick one up though things become much easier. It's WASD controls with keys assigned to weapon swap, dodge and block. You have a special meter that allows you to use skills you unlock at 1st, 5th, 10th, and 15th. Each class has specific weapons it can use along with 4 skills. There are generic weapons / armor etc. that all classes can use as well. There are four classes from which to choose with a variety of loot to collect and equip. You earn dragon scrolls by playing new adventures that you can use to 'Fight the Dragon'. This beast starts with 1 million HP and you can use multiple dragon scrolls to whittle down his health. You will die multiple times but are rewarded based on the amount of damage you can do before biting the dust. The dragon's HP is persistent so next time you'll whittle it away even more...The adventure creation kit is fun and easy to use and is the real draw of this - creating, sharing and downloading adventures. There is an excellent feedback system so you can see how many folks have played your adventures, the ratings they provided and any feedback / comments they have to help you improve. Online multiplayer co-op is available as well though I have not tried it.

TL;DR : Enjoyable loot-based ARPG. Easy to use adventure creation kit that you can share with friends to play co-op. Persistent dragon HP mechanic is interesting as you do all you can over the course of your adventures to take it down.

Fun so far, a good Torchlight 2 "light" style game, great fun with friends. The random and community maps keep it interesting. My biggest complaint is that the invetory space is very limited, so you have to keep playing the inventory management game mid-adventure.

Incredibly fun and surprisingly challenging! Best game I've played in a long while. 10/10
Think Diablo style RPG at the core but with more user flexibility. This game has massive potential and is already among one of my all time favorites. The devs are quite active with the community and still have many plans on adding even more to the game. If you're on the fence about whether or not to get the game then just wait for a sale and pick it up asap. It's definitely worth it.

I dont do reviews ofer so this will be short- if you liked the games Baldurs Gate or Champions of Norath, buy this game. This is the best RPG I've played in a long time. Theres thousands of community made maps and you can play them at random and level your guy up, trade in bad loot for new unique items. This is a great game.
