“How To Survive is more than just a solid zombie role-playing game, it's also one of the best games of the year. With its mix of Diablo-esque hack and slash and dual-stick shooter action, 505 Games' newest Xbox Live Arcade game is a real surprise. It has a deep crafting system and a world you can't help but want to explore. How To Survive rewrites the book on zombie RPGs!”
90% – Gaming Nexus

“While there have been several games that have recently released that fall into the growing zombie survival genre, How to Survive manages to do enough differently to earn its place among the crowd. The game’s strong emphasis on crafting and juggling basic human needs helps distinguish itself from other titles. Additionally, the story campaign features a tale that manages to contain a few plot twists despite its simplicity. One area where How to Survive shines is the game’s strange brand of humor which is helped along by the title’s decent voice acting. In all, How to Survive is recommended to any fans of either the undead or survival simulators. Those who enjoy intricate crafting or top-down gaming should also give it a look.”
4 Stars – Examiner

“In terms of graphic and sound design, How to Survive looks good and sounds even better. The lighting gives real-time shadows based on not only the source but the time of day as the shadows move with the passing sunlight. The island is beautifully rendered, and animations are fluid and zombie deaths are pleasingly gory, chunks of body parts will liter the ground and roll depending on the shape of the surface”
8/10 – Gamer Horizon

How to Survive, mediocre third person "horror" survival game.
Playing and Finishing the game I found the storyline pretty predictable even at the beginning of the game..
It's impossible to say that it's a NEW game.
I Recommend to buy it only during the SALES.

PROs: You can find a lot of worse stuff at the price of this game here on Steam.
Enjoyable basic crafting system with a few customizations.
Catchy Weapon's Choise.
The Bow is so Good <3

CONs: Zombies....Again.
Boring Storyline (the only reason I was keep playing the missions is beacause I loved killing zombies with my Bow).
Zombies', infected's and little monsters' appearance is obviously taken from bigger games like "Left4Dead" (Boomer & Hunter) or Half Life (Those little Spiders). Nothing New...

Anyway it's a mediocre game.. a few hours of fun for a reasonable ammount of money during the Sales.

Fun for a bit, but I believe there are videos that are supposed to play when you get more pages to Kovaks guide. They won't play making the game half ♥♥♥♥♥.

Top-down zombie-survival... How many of these have I seen already? Well considering it cost what 2€? It was a fair price... contains nice amount of crafting, three idividual characters (play style alters on each) "story" not so surprising. online challenges, co-op, survival and so on... I've played it trough once now, but I think I'll be spending more time with it.. at least if one of my pals buys it and wants to co-op. combat is entertaining and somewhat challenging, hordes do overwhelm you quick and even one zombie does inflict serious damage. Food, drink, rest are essential in this game and actually affect gameplay.

For negative, ain't too polished, after getting best weapons you simply ram your way trough the hordes. Since french game, voice acting ain't not too good. But hey, it still offers much fun!

Strong 9/10. Worth a play or at least a try.

WoW people are just crazy,we live in a world where we can play games like this, and not in a stoneage,or like some people live in a third world country, and they have nothing to eat and poulated drinking water, and people rite on here like its a job, most people fomr the first comments i have read think this game it not good or garbage, well its a fun game, has quirky elemenmts to it,and I am gald i can enjoy playing any game,I paied 40$ for another zombie/crafting/minecraft type game, and compared to this one I was sad I spent that much on it cause the crafix are poor, and the game is not user friendly at all, etleast in how to sirvive you can kill zombies at the beging, and you get a feel like the game is gonna be fun to play, not so much with 7 ways to die,I would get a refund but I doubt steam does refunds,if anyone know information on how to get a refund on a game please massage me,anyway in closeing I have not played much of how to survive, but what I have played was fun fun fun :-)

its a fun game for what it is. I would definately recommend buying this on sale. The campaign is fun but pretty short. I have spent more money on worse games though.

Now first lets get the positive out of the way.
The games graphics are fine for what it is.
The story can be funny sometimes.
The co-op challenges can be fun with a friend.

Now lets get to the real review where we look at what they promised and what they delivered.
The game is an ok size however it's extreamly limited in size for it's price.

If you forced yourself to go slow you would take maybe 6 hours to finish this game.

Another problem is the content the guns, melee weps, mutants ect is all really limiting.
Some might disagree with me there but think about it theres maybe 8 guns, 3 chainsaws , 6 melee weps and 1 ammoless total op wep.

Now for my Largest disapointment with this game it's promise "experience for zombie game veterans"

There is NOTHING veteran about this game it hands everything to you on a silver platter.
There's sleep areas at night prebuilt impervise to any zombie attack that you only need to clear out once.

Night creatures are as deadly as a new born kitten.
Ammo is WAY too common i had 2,000 ammo constantly.

There should never be a weapon that can destroy armys without some sort of price "i'm looking at you boomarang"
You should not point out on the map where the players have got to go.

The crafting tells you what's possible.....
The "hardest" mutant is the easyest thing to beat with a handgun.

Food is too easy to aquire.
Water is Way too easy to aquire.

Items respawn.....
Changing difficulty only changes what damage they hit.......

And i could go on with this list for acouple more pages.
All in all this game was a disapointment and broke it's promises.

Before you say i did not play long enough know that i defeated the game twice and defeated half the challenges with friends.
I played through twice to see if anything at all changed i really had to force myself to with a dieing hope that something hard or fun would of been added.

Online co-op is lag and bug filled and has serious annoyances that i had hoped they might have removed.
The difficulty and enemie numbers are the same.
You and the other player are forced to share the screen meaning you can't move far from eachother.
The match making system is pathetic as it's auto finding where you select options and hope that someone else has the same options but a diffrent character.
All in all no real change to the game still not worth the money.
