HTS2 - More Language Support & Release!

Hello Survivors!

When we began Early Access back in 2015 we stated that we wanted to have a final game by summer 2016. And we can now announce that we will be launching How to Survive 2 on September 8th 2016.

For the past few months, we have been working with you to enhance, widen and shape How to Survive 2 by taking in account requests and suggestions from the forums. We would like to thank everyone for their feedback by making sure that you get a nice pack of Early Access items. So anyone who purchased the game before official launch will receive the Pet Crow, the Winter Hat and the Dual Knives. Those who purchase at launch and after will need to purchase them via DLC. We will be keeping the Primal Fear Armor for those who already own another How to Survive franchise game. The Voodoo Guitar will remain exclusive to players who purchased the game early (thank you, guys!).

We knew from our research that the community wanted a space where they could play with friends and freely create their own camps, so we focused in developing a system where you could invite other players and cooperate with them to survive.

The scenarios are now bigger than ever in the How to Survive franchise, introducing a variety of environments from swamps to suburban streets, sewers, farms, the French Quarter, etc. And we have populated it with infected hordes that include classic zombies, fast zombies, SWAT, exploding or mutilated zombies, farmers and more. You can also find a large catalogue of animals, infected or not, roaming the scenarios: alligators, turtles, pelicans, bears, deer, pigs, bunnies, etc.

You can come across over a dozen NPCs that will trigger dozens of quests with different mechanics: scavenge, timed challenges, escort and stealth missions. And, first among the locals, there is Kovac who will guide your steps to craft your gear, build your camp and fortify it. Following his recipes, you and your friends will be able to equip your survivors with amazing weapons and armors. And you can choose among dozens of skills to level up and create unique characters.

There has been exhaustive work tweaking and adjusting animations, controls, difficulty, leveling, etc. And, by the time that you read these lines, our plan is to have the game available into, at least, 11 languages! In our latest update today we have added language support for Korean, Thai and Turkish.

There will be one last content update at launch to bring new challenges and quests, camp modifications, new enemies, building, weapon and armor novelties and… a special surprise Kovac finale! We wanted to do something completely crazy and unexpected, just like Kovac. So don’t tell us… "Oh, I saw that coming…" because you didn’t. ;)

Upon game launch we will need to reset the servers which will mean all camps and characters will be reset back to the beginning. We have implemented a new save structure that is a bit more simplified than what we had during Early Access which we hope will clear up a number of issues that users have reported to us. Along with the save update we are also releasing all the game Achievements for the game which will require you to start from a fresh launch. The quest structure has been updated and finalized so we hope everyone will have a nice story quest flow that will lead up to our new ultra-exciting story ending.

After the game launch we will be monitoring the forums and game performance to decide our next steps. So stay tuned!

“How To Survive is more than just a solid zombie role-playing game, it's also one of the best games of the year. With its mix of Diablo-esque hack and slash and dual-stick shooter action, 505 Games' newest Xbox Live Arcade game is a real surprise. It has a deep crafting system and a world you can't help but want to explore. How To Survive rewrites the book on zombie RPGs!”
90% – Gaming Nexus

“While there have been several games that have recently released that fall into the growing zombie survival genre, How to Survive manages to do enough differently to earn its place among the crowd. The game’s strong emphasis on crafting and juggling basic human needs helps distinguish itself from other titles. Additionally, the story campaign features a tale that manages to contain a few plot twists despite its simplicity. One area where How to Survive shines is the game’s strange brand of humor which is helped along by the title’s decent voice acting. In all, How to Survive is recommended to any fans of either the undead or survival simulators. Those who enjoy intricate crafting or top-down gaming should also give it a look.”
4 Stars – Examiner

“In terms of graphic and sound design, How to Survive looks good and sounds even better. The lighting gives real-time shadows based on not only the source but the time of day as the shadows move with the passing sunlight. The island is beautifully rendered, and animations are fluid and zombie deaths are pleasingly gory, chunks of body parts will liter the ground and roll depending on the shape of the surface”
8/10 – Gamer Horizon

Smooth Gameplay,
Graphics are fine,
Audio is decent,
Crafting is quick, simple and all sorts of combinations

Kovac's dialogues are funny and entertaining.

The Story Mode isn't hard,
One Shot Escape and Barricade in Kovac' Difficulty is nerve-wrecking,
but great sense of achievement once succeed.
Highly recommend using Nina, skilled in bow and fiery ammo.

Only lacking I can think of is a Storage box, so do not have to arrange inventories on the ground.

Had played the game before from another platform, and seeing the big sale on steam.
Just had to buy it again in June16 to support.

I Recommend.

Product received for free
My friend bought me this game on sale (it costed around 1€).

This game is about surviving on islands with sh*t ton of Zombies everywhere. You can craft bunch of equipment like fire arrows, molotov cocktails etc. You can also level up your character based on your play style which is nice.

I recommend this game to play with friend, it's even more fun

How to Survive can really call itself a zombie-survival game. Besides killing zombies it is important to eat, drink and sleep. You can collect plants, hunt animals or go fishing to get food (don`t forget to cook your stuff at a campfire first). Fresh water is only available at watering places and safehouses provide a safe place to sleep, but they have to be "cleaned" first. Nearly everything you find can be useful and combinded with other things. Not only all kinds of weapons, but also armour can be crafted. The main problem you will have during the game is that there is not enough space in your inventory to carry everything you find. The story itself is quite simple, washed ashore on an unknown island you play one out of four different characters, each having other skills, and try to escape from the island. To do so you have to explore different islands and learn how to survive. Apart from the storymode there are special challenges playable. What I liked most about the game is the possibility to craft lots of different useful things and the fact that you can play the storymode together with a friend!

i really like this game, givin the fact i refunded it.
i refunded the game cuz it was just not my type of game, not really into the whole idea of warding of extra mean zombies with a flashlight and having them come back. i see how most people would love this and i really did enjoy how the game works. i just thought this would be a diff kind of game, my bad for not looking into it more. im just gonna say this, buy it now while its cheap

Good Game! Like how we fight the zombies, one thing that is bad, Storyline is boring.
Still recommended to play for a discounted price, not full

Technically, it is almost perfect:
Full controller support (like at least every non-FPS game should have),
enjoyable co-op, pretty beautiful, isometric visuals. On easy, it has a very well balanced difficulty, especially for a zombie-killing game. Then again, I wouldn't complain about its difficulty, if I chose to play it on hard.
No linux support, though. (Not that it incorporates DX11, to justify windows only support.)

(I know that you tell about the existence of these features by looking at the side-of-the-screen steam icons, and that you don't need to read a review emphasizing them, but these are the first things that matter, and the reasons to try a game or not, in first place.)

Aethetically, it is a really stylish, fun-to-play and rewarding game. I'd call it a hiddent gem, but thankfully, it's not hidden anymore :-)
Dialogs are interesting, or at least non-brain-dead, and Kovac's instuctions are hilarious. With as-many-as-needed RPG elements, meaningful crafting and an interesting variety of weapons,it's definitely a must-buy, even if really tired of the 'killing-zombies' genre. (like I am).

For you, when on discount ( < 2$ ), its bundle is probably the single best offer you can get amongst all games on steam. For me, a new standard of how well my money is spent on other games.

You need food, sleep and water to fight, but the maps are tiny and well enough stocked that you’re never more than a quick jog away from handling any of them. cloth is everywhere, crafting is done in the inventory, and time freezes when doing it, even midbattle. It’s just busy work, even sillier than the way that supposed safehouses actually attract enemies when you open the door. Combat itself is quiet good. Targeting is easy and precise enough. And game have some sense of humor so yeah, good for me.

An isometric survival horror crafting game.

Game is a good bit o fun, but does nothing innovitive or different from your traditional crafting survival game.

Game is reletivly short, look at my completion time seriously.

I got this game as [art of a sale and would recommend you buy it when its on sale only.
