Concrete Jungle - Made with Fusion

Concrete Jungle is out!

Cole J. of Colepowered games, creator of Megacity HD, has brought today the next evolution of city building puzzlers with the release of Concrete Jungle. After a successful kickstarter campaign and a lot of hard work, Concrete Jungle launches on Steam and Clickstore.

About the Game

Concrete Jungle is a new take on the city building genre that swaps micro-management for a more strategic and puzzle-orientated style of city planning.

You have a deck of selected cards which you can use to place buildings. Each building will affect it's surroundings in different ways. The aim of the game is to clear city blocks by gathering the required number of points from your residents, giving more room to build. As the city grows, bigger and better new buildings can be added to your deck!

As you get opportunities to hone and refine your deck, residents will demand more from you. You'll find yourself inadvertently creating zoning puzzles- playing against your own past planning decisions.

Alternatively engage in competitive city planning against challenging AI or local players. Take it in turns to place buildings in the same city and battle over the affection of your citizens!

-Good Event Editor
-Good in Program graphics editor
-good animation editor
-Easy To Learn
-No code, but you can still make complicated games
-Good Extension Manager
-Good Community
-Good sound manager
-Good Hi Score object

-Because there is no code, there are limits
-Alot of object and events create a slow game
-Some Icons are hard to read
-Not a real good way to save games
-Bad In Software pre programmed movement(You can download extensions for better movement)

Summary: The engine surely is strong but only for 2D games. If you want 3D, go to unity or some ♥♥♥♥. Without learning code you can make your first game within 30 minutes. A good game within 4-5 hours. A game worth selling within a week. The community is always there to help you and that is what I love the most about Clickteam Fusion 2.5- The Devs always care for bug reports and such.

Very dedicated developers!

The developers are so dedicated that I found a bug and they corrected it within 1 week. This is the link to the bug

Also you can easily make 2D Apps, and have released several on iOS App store, Android Google Play and Android Amazon. So far have created 4 products on each store in about 6 months. Learning curve is pretty easy, just dive into it and pump out an app... you quickly learn how to make apps better the more you make. Start off with small projects (stuff you wont release, just to test out features) and you get the hang of things very quickly. Then you find articles like those listed below and you go back and change your existing apps on the market to make them better!

Good articles to read:

Examples are everywhere! The community is awesome! If the developers dont answer, someone from the community will. The developers do spend a lot of time on the forums helping! It is impressive how quickly they get back to you.

Overall Opinion

It's alright for getting started in game development. However, it has its limitations. Luckily, people over at the Clickteam Addon store are making things possible.

  • Great starter for game development. Easy to use and self-explanitory.
  • For it's capabilities, it can be used to make great games. (it was used in FNAF, despite the 3D work being done elsewhere)
  • The Addon store can give you abilities that the engine doesn't come with. For example, raycasting and multiplayer capabilities.

  • Feels old to use. It reminds me of using Visual Basic 6.
  • Scripting doesn't really have basic programming necessities (if statements, for statements, etc).
  • You need to buy the ability to export to devices outside Windows.
  • No Linux/BSD support.

The abilities that you have in Clickteam Fusion are almost at par with popular open-source (if not freeware) game engines. The $100 price tag doesn't seem worth what you're getting when you can find an open-source JavaScript game engine for free. I feel you're better off reading books and learning how to use existing engines, if not making your own. I realise that comparing this is like comparing apples to oranges, but Unreal Engine and Unity are free. If you have the hardware for it, using Unity or Unreal Engine can make this look like child's play.

This is a easy to use and power full enough tool to make 2D game with.
If you're intrested in making games like, flappy bird, Mario clones etc, this is the best tool.
suprisingly easy to learn. I have made games that only took me a few weeks to make.
And people really enjoy the games to. In short, try the free version and buy the developer version when you think you're ready. Highly recommended.
