Cook, Serve, Delicious v3.17 Update

Hey who's ready for an all new update? This patch fixes a few bugs and adds some requested features, including a new track for CSD soundtrack owners! Woo!

  • You can now select different Fish recipes in practice mode if you have upgraded to three stars or higher.
  • Alternate metrics added in the Statistics menu for Food Volume.
  • In the Practice Chores mode, robberies are now delivered to Prep Station 2 so you can practice them exclusively w/o having to practice all the chores first.
  • Added a CSD 2 teaser email.

  • The Tutorial track has been added in FLAC and MP3 formats for users who have purchased the CSD Soundtrack DLC. For details on how to access your soundtrack, visit the main store page.

  • Fixed a bug that would cause the game to display error messages when going to the main menu, as well as glitching Weekly Challenges.
  • Fixed bug that would allow hash browns to contribute to daily income in practice mode.
  • Changed Laci's VIP requests in order to hopefully fix the bug where she wouldn't visit your restaurant, even with the proper foods on the menu.
  • Fixed bug that prevented the last two recipes of Nachos to be practiced in Practice Mode.
  • Fixed small email glitch that displayed the wrong name for a few male dates for Cook4Luv.

Due to the new changes in the Mac OS system in regards to running apps outside of the official Apple App Store, the state of exporting to Mac via Game Maker Studio (the engine we use) is in a bit of a disarray right now. I've spent the last few weeks trying to find solutions but unfortunately it's a huge mess right now, and completely out of my hands.

What this all means is that from now on all patches are opt-in only for Mac users. You will need to right click on Cook, Serve, Delicious in your Steam Library, select Properties, and click the Betas tab and select the Mac Patch beta branch. Once you do so and download the new game, try running it. You will be informed that the game is an app from the internet, so press OK/accept to run it. Try running it again if it does not load. You may need to run it a few times before the game starts up, at which point you shouldn't have any further problems when running the game. I realize this is a less than ideal situation but just last week I was faced with the possibility of not being able to patch the Mac version anymore, and that's completely unacceptable to me. So this is how it'll have to be. Remember, just keep trying to run the game and eventually it will go through, and you shouldn't have any more errors forever after that, or at least that's been my experience. I will update with more info if Game Maker Studio or Apple's new App process is sorted and fixed.

Thanks and enjoy!

“Along with being one of the (very unexpectedly!) funniest games I’ve played this year, the game’s disarming & charming aesthetic did not prepare me for what is undoubtedly the best WarioWare-like game I have ever played. In fact, I probably ended up spending more time with Cook, Serve, Delicious! than with almost any other game this year. The gameplay is simple in nature but blisteringly fast, resulting in a challenge that is more than enough to keep the average player interested. The game does not overstay its welcome, as it evolves in numerous ingenious ways by the time you’ve reached the end.”
The Stereogram

“It's not an easy game to excel at, but it's an easy game to get hooked on, and the challenge of building and running your own restaurant from front to back is going to captivate you for weeks on end...with depth to rival a strategy game and carefully controlled chaos ruling the action sequences, Cook, Serve, Delicious! is a rare release that encourages you to play until you master every nuance of gameplay.”
Jay Is Games

“Cook, Serve, Delicious! is fast paced, engaging, and absolutely addictive for foodies or non-foodies alike. Don’t be fooled by the cute cartoonish style because you’ll find your eyeballs popping and button mashing like mad after a few hours.”

Cook, Serve, Delicious is a hardcore restaurant sim, one of the few in its genre that gives the players total control over where they want to take their restaurant.

The game centers on an old, worn down restaurant in the SherriSoda Tower, which was once the heart of the building but closed down as business (and tenants) dropped to an all time low. But with the local economy rising back up and occupancy reaching its maximum, SherriSoda Tower has decided to bring back the old Cook, Serve, Delicious restaurant, and has given you complete control to bring it back to its old five star status of world class dining.

To do that, you’ll start with a few thousand dollars and thirty foods to choose from to put on your menu, as well as a host of restaurant equipment and more. Nearly everything is unlocked from the start of the game for you to purchase; this is your restaurant, and you must figure out the best strategy to get that restaurant packed with satisfied customers. Can you prove your culinary skills?

And if that weren’t enough, you’ll also have the opportunity to be cast in the Iron Cook television show, throw parties for offices in SherriSoda Tower, read virtual mail in your SherriSoda Tower Email account which ranges from game tips to crazy spam (nearly 500 emails in all), from customers providing feedback to your restaurant to opportunities such as being able to fund projects via “ClicknStart” and other big surprises!

With hours of content and tons of secrets and unlockables, Cook, Serve, Delicious will provide a big challenge for anyone who’s ready to take their crumbling, rat infested eatery to a luxurious Platinum Star Restaurant. Good luck!

  • New Steam Features include key binding support for all foods and events, a new gameplay option called CookBets where you will receive randomized challenges each day, fifty new spam emails and options as well as improvements to UI across the board, and full Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Steam Leaderboards with special Steam Challenges and Trading Cards support.
  • Includes the upgrade pack, "Extra Crispy Edition," that brings ten new foods to the game including Lobster, Bananas Foster, Enchiladas, Sushi and more!
  • DualShock 4, Xbox 360, Wii U Pro Controller and Xbox One gamepad button mapping fully supported for compatible controllers. Rumble is also supported (for Windows only). (Note: first and third party drivers still required for full compatibility. For a full detailed list, be sure to check out the Steam thread: )

I enjoy cooking irl and I often play flash cooking games online. But this game makes me wanna set my computer on fire and kill myself. I thought I was gonna have fun and kill time with it. I got nothing but panic attacks!
Let me put it this way. You basically have to take control of EVERY SINGLE CHORE in the restaurant! EVERY. SINGLE. CHORE! Take orders, cook, serve, do the dishes, take the trash out, set traps for rats, stop burglers, take selfies with people, go on dates. Not to mention the stress in rush hours while an inspector is watching you, so you try your best not to miss a single chore. All while cooking for impatient ungrateful ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s who don't even flush the toilet, so I have to do that too!
This game will hurt you mentally, physically and emotionally. Because as cute and yummy as the the food will look, you will hate every single person who makes an order. Because while you finish making a fun delicious burger. You've probably missed or burned at least 4 other orders and also hurt your arm or broke a finger, from mashing every single button as fast as you can. This makes Hell's Kitchen look like a fairy land.
But despite all that, it's so addicting and surprisingly fun. The kind of game you will keep going back to, even for just 5 minutes to see if you can do better, which you won't!

Highly addicting game. Your main goal is to serve as many customers as you can during the workday by pressing correct button combinations for each order. You're single worker in restaurant which means you'll serve several customers at once and doing catering jobs at the same time. Customers will not wait for you forever, if you're too late serving them or not giving them exactly what they wanted, they'll leave unsatisfied, giving your restaurant negative buzz for next day, which means - less customers. Basically, your restaurant's success depends on your speed, accuracy and multitasking skills (serving 5+ orders at the same time). There's also a "manager" part of the game (between workdays) where you organize menu list for next day, responding to mails, buying upgrades, etc. Take note that this game is not a manager simulation, success depends of your skills as a cook.

This is not a game for relaxation - it's very tense from the start, the more successful you are it will be more difficult for you in later game (more complex orders, more customers) and again, you'll feel more accomplished as the game progresses. Game comes packed with many challenges and goals, including multiplayer/co-op - enough to give you dozens of playing hours. Recommended!

(I played on Xbox 360 controller so I can't speak about experience on keyboard)
