Well this game surprised me, a hell of a lot!

What looks like a dodgey Trials HD rip off from the store page, turns out to be a fairly decent competitor.

The game features full controller support, friend-list and worldwide leaderboards, player ghosts to race against, achievements, minigames, steam cloud and trading cards.

PROS
  • Extremely well optimised
  • Graphics better/on par with Trials
  • Adds new gameplay elements that pit you against your friends mid level
  • Controls great, 360 pad controls being the same as Trials
  • Uses friends avatars and scores in unique and competitive yet fun ways
  • A fair amount of content
  • Generously priced
  • Small download size
  • No uPlay DRM
CONS
  • Slight repeat of levels from time to time
  • Not many video options
  • Not the tightest bike control when compared to Trials franchise
  • Uses annoying mobile-like star system to progress in campaign
  • Limited player and bike customisations
  • No multiplayer
  • Not many levels seem to rely on speed, something that makes Trials exciting
=-=-=

Overall I had to think much harder for the list of cons than I did the pros and even at double the cost it's worth every penny. Trials on Steam comes with horrible uPlay DRM and aren't the most optimised of games. So for the budget PC gamer who loves him/her some trials biking, this is 100% the game for you.

Play the game so I can race against you in my Urban Trial Freestyle friendslist.

I really liked this game. It's pretty much what it should be. Awesome tracks, with challenges like highest jump, longest jump, most flips etc..Tho, the only thing I really love at this game is the environment, and the way it interacts with you and your way. The game presents a ( very ) large range of places to have fun, such as huge dams, montange russes, subways, alleys of a city, highways and so much more!

I've got this game during the Summer Sale for only $1, and it was so worth it!

7.5/10 Fun motobike racing game with cool upgrades dynamic levels and hours of however the gameplay does start to get repetitive after a few hours of gameplay and there is not really an end goal as to say. Having said that I do believe it is a fun game to play if you are bored and have not got time for other games.

This is more of a first impressions review, usually I like to complete a game before reviewing it but I really don't want to complete this. Urban Trial Freestyle is effectively just a rip off of the Trials games, in particular Trials Evolution but it just doesn't have the same appeal as Trials.

+Quite a few tracks
+Elements of the environment react to you
+You're always competing against whoever has the highest score for what you're doing
+Decent graphics
+Controller support

-The backgrounds of the tracks are always very boring (think of the buildings in Prototype as an example)
-Not many customisation options for your character or your bike
-Only one bike
-The bike is very insensitive and when in the air it's so bad you can't even get half a flip in on the biggest of jumps
-Some things on the track (like car crashes in the background) are very predictable
-The sound of the bike, especially with the engine upgrade, is horrific and is just the same sound clip played over and over again
-Tracks feel pretty similar to each other and occasionally look like a direct rip off of a Trials Evolution track

Verdict:
5

It's okay for a bit but then gets really boring, I'd give it a pass unless it's dirt cheap.

Not hard enough for seasoned trials players.
You play every map in 5 - 7h and are left without any replayability.
Customization doesn't do enough. You can pretty much play through the whole game with just buying the best engine.
Was ok for 1$ in the humble bundle, but I can't recommend paying the full price.

Pros:
- OK graphics
- Good for a quick game when you have little time
- Ability to customize bike before each race is cool

Cons:
- Extremely short
- Nothing to do besides the main stages and the challenges, which give you nothing in return
- Bike customization is very limited
- Cheaters topping the leaderboards for every track, devs seem to not care about it
- Bike sounds are repetitive and out of place, it never feels like a true engine

Overall 4.5/10
Grab it if it's in the Humble Bundle, otherwise don't pour 10€ into it, wait for a sale.

The game seems quite fun at first, but turns out to be completely and utterly boring. Each and every stage can be completed by pressing "up" arrow constantly, game is repetitive and visually unimpressive. Oh, and the leaderboards are populated by cheaters, so you can't even compare your score to other players. Got it from Humble Bundle, paid $1 for the whole thing, I still think I wasted that money.

Much easier to start with than the classic Trials games.... but also ramps up in difficulty, but not too badly. Feel is really good, I find I can make my biker guy do pretty much exactly as I want, and the environment is fairly forgiving.

A supriseingly good game, constant progress through leves and upgrades.... 9.3/10.

It does what it was made to do, be the poor man's trials fusion. So yeah buy it when it is on sale fore like 90 percent off. I know I am happy with my purchase of this game but if I bought it at 5-10 dollars I would be really regretting the purchase.

I bought this game during the summer sale at $0.99, totally worth the deal. I've spend a total of 19.2hrs on this game to complete the game to 100%, all achievements done. Overall, a fun bike/platformer game and if one is willing to go for 100% achievement, repetition is definitely there and its a total test of patience if one is to get the perfect trial run in every stages.

P/S: Tips/Tricks for most of the stages can be found on YouTube; it'll be labelled for PS3. However, tricks for steam version are the same as the PS3 version as I've followed those tricks to get to 100% completion. Vita version might differ in this case.

I wasn't all that inspired initially with the gameplay of Urban Trial Freestyle. The overall motorcycle control certainly feels a little shallow and the game does its best to focus your attention on environmental animations to hide that lack of gameplay. I mean you essentially accelerate, brake, and lean forward or backward on your motorcycle--and that's it.

The courses are short and there are time trials where you race against a ghost rider as well as stunt trials where you score points to achieve stars which unlock more levels. There are moneybags placed throughout the levels which after collected can be used to purchase bike upgrades or clothing. The game can be a little frustrating since some of the moneybags are located in areas that require bike upgrades so there can be a sense of having to backtrack to an earlier track to get the remaining moneybags after you acquire enough money to purchase the necessary upgrades.

After giving the game a bit more play time, I do find it to be somewhat fun and enjoyable. The challenge courses are interesting. And getting maximum stars isn't all that easy so there is some challenge to the game as well. Overall, it's a game I would play again, albeit in moderation.
