About This Game

Jack Keane is back! And his newest adventure is even more fast-paced than ever before!

Five years after his last adventure with Dr. T, the hapless but incorrigible hero, Jack Keane returns to experience the greatest adventure of his life alongside the beautiful Amanda. However he soon realises once again that nothing goes quite as smoothly as Jack had imagined.

Shanghai, 1899 -The mysterious Chinese city is the epicentre for adventurers of all kinds. Jack Keane, too, has been attracted to the place by rumours of a legendary treasure - or to be more precise, these tales have led him right inside the walls of the notorious Shanghai prison. It is within these walls that the guardian of the treasure, a secretive shaman, has been locked up for years. Unfortunately for our hero, Jack has completely disregarded the fact that it is a lot easier to get INTO prison than out of it…

And this is only the beginning of Jack Keane's newest bizarre adventure: mysterious treasures, ruthless villains, two distractingly beautiful women and tons of clever humour await the most lovable treasure hunter to have ever sailed the seven seas in a comical tour de force around the globe. During his travels, Jack will not only meet old friends, but also encounter new faces such as the elegant city-lady Eve and the brilliant German engineer Carl.

Jack Keane 2 - The Fire Within is set to revolutionise the classic point & click adventure genre. Never has an adventure been as cinematic, fast-paced and humorous, without breaking any of the iconic point & click gameplay rules.

State of the art 3D-graphics, gripping action-sequences and the typical bizarre Jack Keanesque humour will be an absolute delight to all adventure fans.

  • Control your characters directly with WASD, or switch to the classic Point & Click-Style
  • Experience the kind of love triangle we all know from everyday life movies
  • Explore your own mind (literally), chase zeppelins by car, and learn a wide array of fight-stances to counter your opponents’ frantic moves
  • Created by the developers of adventure hits such as Ankh, Jack Keane and Black Sails
  • State of the art 3D-graphics based on Deck 13’s revolutionary FLEDGE engine
  • The mix of fast-paced action sequences and iconic point & click-gameplay makes Jack Keane 2 - The Fire Within a truly 21st Century adventure

Jack Keane 2 - The Fire Within
-Graphics are clean and lacking in glitches
-Jack Keane with a beard looks kinda like one of the Beatles
-A few exciting set-pieces
-Contains four delicious banana recipies
-Depending on your choices, certain puzzles WILL change. Characters actually acknowledge the alternate order of actions.
-"What the hell? Where did I get this sponge?"
-Dream sequences are imaginative.

-You often end up doing things and combining items without knowing why. This isn't always because the puzzles are overly obtuse but because the game routinly let's you START solving a later puzzle before you can FINISH it.
-You start to wonder why the dialog is so hard to hear during animated cutscenes.
-All characters share the same talking animations and there are only about five of them total. The characters also lack emotion both in face and sometimes in dialog.
-The running and jumping is HORRID. Simple puzzles are made infuriating by needing to jump on a box.
-Fisticufts are slow, tedious, and just boring.
-Since the camera tracks the current character, important items are sometimes well offscreen forcing you to run around hunting for them.

Overall: 3.5/10 Hilarious for how not-good and ALMOST good it is.

Even though Jack Keane 2: The Fire Within has some issues with its controls and features a relationship idea that isn’t fleshed out, the time you spend with Jack and his chums is no doubt enjoyable and manages to hit most of the right notes for a point-and-click game. It moves at a steady pace without interrupting the player much with mystifying puzzles, which is helped by the fact that they can be solved without having to think up inconceivable solutions. Jack Keane 2 might not be the smashing excellence in the genre that The Walking Dead was praised for last year, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give Jack Keane 2 a try if you like a bit of delightful comedy in your adventure games.

TLDR: An incredibly boring story coupled with uninteresting puzzles and bland characters. Not even recommended on a sale unless you are truly desperate for a point and click adventure game.

Long Version: You play as Jack, a Indiana Jones wannabe with commitment issues and his ex-girlfriend Amana who is... ehm... his ex-girlfriend? Other than a temper and an affinity for firearms she is not given much more character. They are searching for an item that should not fall into the bad guys hands. I'm not entirely sure if they were trying to throw in as many clichés as possible as some kind of joke, but it would not surprise me. Unfortunately the joke falls a bit flat.

The puzzles were mostly the bog standard item using variety coupled with an incredibly basic puzzle fighting system where you always have to learn a new move to win. I assume you eventually get to have to use it in a more puzzling sense but I never got that far because frankly, Jack Keane 2 is dull. So dull in fact that when the game offered a choice to take the money and run - which results in the game ending and you being given the choice to make another choice, I took the money and gladly declined to change my mind. It seemed a far better alternative than to spend more time with these characters and their inane quest.

As a remember I had a somewhat nice time with Jack Keane 1, so I would probably recommend getting that one instead if you can get it cheap. Jack Keane I bought on a sale and I still don't think I got my money's worth.

An amusing game, if you are amused by awful controls, abhorrent jumping mechanics, buggy camera, puzzles that you solve without knowing why, dull story, and unfunny jokes.

Other than that, it's rather unamusing.

I honestly wanted to like this game, but it felt more like a chore to finish the game. Didn't enjoy it much. There were few nice moments, but terrible controls, bad voice acting and average story and jokes killed it for me.

I would think twice before buying the game.

Awful. Jack Keane was the best out of the two. Game lags, the cursor doesnt always work, puzzles can be finished before you even get to that point. Im currently stuck on the car scene where you have to click on the steering wheel - ITS NOT DOING WHAT ITS SUPPSOED TO BE DOING so i can progress on to the next part and finish this bug filled game. I wanted this for awhile and its not even worth purchasing at the sale price. The jumping will also send you into a rage due to it not doing what its supposed to and sending you off somewhere in the wrong direction.

The praise:
-very good A+ graphics, environments and character modelling (Amanda's bosom gaddahmn)
-nice cinematic music
-romance dialog choices that leads to different endings
-elephant bug in the savannah (it suddenly started to move elephant in the background same as Jack moved, absolutely hilarious)

The nag:
-too easy, almost a visual novel...
-...and bad at that, very badly executed story, things just happen, sometimes just skipping ahead
-buggy, crashy and performance issueshy
-fighting 'puzzles'
-jumping, there's a short animation warm-up that makes it very hard to get where you want, maybe they tried to make realistic jump?
-irritating voice usage, sometimes overlapping, sometimes too much repetition
-random voice levels in dialog

This wasn't all horrible, actually an OK point and click snack but NOT recommended at full price.

this game has an interesting start: escaping the prison, learning the secret fighting technique for the first time, taking the quest and going on an adventure. the part where Amanda appears is when you see that the voice acting is bad. really bad. i appreciate the jokes, but they're not that funny. they're as 'meh' as this game is in general. a waste of time. there's a part when Jack is up for making his ♥♥♥♥ bigger. it's in the title, too. "The Fire Within" is actually an >erection<, believe it or not. this game is all about making your ♥♥♥♥ grow, that's it. adios

This game seems to have mixed review beacuse of how it plays on modern pc's (2016) vs 2013 (3 years old wow)
People complain about voice acting being bad.. lol. It's an adventure game. You can just skip dialog.
The game is witty and fun but .. major but, even if you know what to do, the characters need to know it also. So talk a lot.
the controls are a bit unweildly at times if you use the keyboard to walk and jump, but not a real biggee or game killer.

Worst mechanic is the fighting, bah. only really 4 defense and attack moves but you must watch your opponent for the clues, and even then you may loose, because you haven't learnt the move yet.

I would give this an 8 / 10
(has multiple endings, I have been told, but not sure)

This is one of the worst adventure games i've played. Almost everything in this game is broken.
Graphics are awful. Everything looks very outdated. Animations are really bad, no facial expressions. And there's sliding/teleporting elephant in the backroung in one scene. Or maybe it's an cosmic elephant? No seriously, the graphic part of this game is very bad. Even the boobs can't save it.
Voice acting is ridiculous. There's nothing more to say about it. Sound is broken too. Soemtimes characters talk very loudly and sometimes you can't hear them.
Controls. Another area where this game fails. It's not fully point&click adventure game (how it should be and it would've been much better game) but actualy you control the characters with wasd, toggle run/walk with shift and jump(jumping is another topic) with space. So why the hell this game doesn't support a controller?
Oh yeah, jumping. Most of the time you will jump in the wrong direction, it's pain to climb somewhere because of poor jumping mechanics.
The cursor often don't work. Usually pressing the jump button helps to reset the cursor. I'm serious here, it works that way. Sometimes you just need to load the previous save.
Just stay away from this broken game!

Jack Keane 2 was full of game-play bugs, and graphics glitches. The story is tedious, so are the puzzles. Nothing is redeemable about this game. I got too frustrated to even finish it.

Would NOT recommend, even on sale.

Take this recommendation with a grain of salt
Considering how little I paid for this, it was alright.

- The story dialogue was not particularly imaginitive, occasionally minorly humorous, but in the end horribly cliched. The characters just about the same.
- Graphics are fine; wasn't really glitchy or anything, no real complaints there;
- Puzzles were...a little obtuse. you would be sort of expected to start completing a puzzle before realizing that the puzzle existed; and sometimes you would solve a puzzle without really realizing why you were doing the things you were doing;
- just generally moving around (especially when they have to climb on top of things) was slow;
- the camera was okay; not great, not the worst either
- the fight sequences are slow and don't really add much to the game
- Your choices do have some effect on the game, which I liked the idea of, but it was pretty minimally implemented

All in all, it's okay. could've been better
Probably worth the 1.25 I got it for, but frankly not much more

A by far better game than the previous installment in the series. Both the puzzles and the mechanics are better and more intuitive. (I hated how the puzzles often didnt make any sense in the last game)

It's not one of my favourite point and click adventure games. I look to Lucas arts (monkey island and others) and wadjet eye games for that. There are some others as well. But if you liked Jack Keane 1 I guess Jack Keane 2 won't be too bad.

The control scheme is a bit unusual with the drag the mouse to walk or run... but it works pretty well. and you can allways use the wsad keys if you dont like dragging the mouse. Jumping mechanic is innovateing and kind of fun but really seems pointless in hindsight. All it was actually used for (where it wasn't just a pointless design choice) was a barreldodgeing puzzle which you can technically complete without dodgeing any of the barrels.
