[Development] Updated model of the He 111H-6 bomber

Download Wallpaper: 1280x1024 | 1920x1080 | 2560x1440

Excellent news for fans of German aviation:
one of War Thunder’s old timers, the He 111H-6 bomber is receiving an updated model!
In addition, we’ve fixed a range of bugs that were present in the old model.

The German Heinkel He 111H-6 bomber is a true old timer in War Thunder – this aircraft was among the first to arrive in our game. As you already know from our Developer Diaries, work on upgrading old vehicle models takes an important place in the list of our artists’ and modelers’ responsibilities. In update 1.61 Road to Glory, the German bomber will receive an updated model and texture, which includes the removal of various drawbacks in the old model.

The current in-game model of the He 111H-6 is noticeably outdated and no longer meets the quality standards that we set for vehicle models in the game. The new model of this regular of aerial battles in ranks II-III now has far more polygons and the new texture has a 4K resolution and has become far more detailed than the previous model.

[Development] Crew Reinforcements

It takes weeks to build a ground vehicle. It takes years to train a professional. Vehicle crews and maintenance teams are the most valuable resource in any player’s slots.

But the realities of the game dictate their own rules. Every day on the War Thunder battlefields, far more vehicles are destroyed than ever met their end in real war, and a vehicle that is very survivable in real life may fail to show its virtues so clearly when it comes under a hail of fire. This mostly concerns heated battles on the ground.

We strive to recreate historical reality wherever this doesn’t oppose simple logic and exciting gameplay, and the survivability of ground vehicles in battle is an important factor that directly influences how much fun people have in battles. But how do we adapt our vehicles for far more deadly battles than those that took place in real life, without touching the tanks’ carefully recreated characteristics? The answer is simple: crews! It is people that control tanks, and the tank is considered lost only after the majority of its crew are killed. We’ve been looking into various options that would allow you to enjoy the battle for longer without losing the sense of a true conflict.

These options included medkits, which would allow you to return a member of your crew to life, but many of you considered this mechanic not entirely suitable for the realities of Simulator, Realistic and even Arcade battles in War Thunder. There was a literal downpour of suggestions for an alternative.
We’ve considered the most logical of your suggestions in developing this latest mechanism, and now we present a new mechanic – crew drafting.

Do things look bad? The tanker is already on the way!

In a large upcoming update, tankers in all modes will become acquainted with a new mechanic with which a tank still capable of contributing to the fight mechanically can prepare for the next skirmish with the enemy by replacing a knocked-out crew member with a reserve soldier.

How does this mechanic work?
Just as you requested, we’ve changed not only the crew member revival mechanism, but also introduced variety to how the mechanic works in different modes.

In Arcade mode, you can request a draft at any point on the map, and if there is only one tanker left in the tank, the draft is requested automatically and all you have to do is hope that the soldier arrives in time. It’s all quite simple, the only thing you have to consider is that the vehicle cannot move between your request for a crew member and the time the crew member arrives.

It’s a little more complicated in Realistic and Simulated modes. Here, you can only draft a tanker at a safe capture point that belongs to your team, and you can only draft a crew member manually. This is in contrast to Arcade mode, only a battle-capable vehicle with a minimum of two living crew members can draft a new crew member. It will also be impossible to move while the replacement is being fulfilled.
Crew drafting will become available after you research the ground vehicle modification of the same name. Each individual replacement tanker draft costs Silver Lions.

The tanker is ready to move whenever you request it.

We thank all players who helped by offering suggestions for the development of this new mechanic, and we hope that ground battles in all modes will become more fun because of it. Good luck!

Got this because it said it works with the Vive. It doesn't. All it does is reproject the game into a virtual theatre and runs terribly. Will give it a go again when true Vive support actually shows up as it's marketed.

Very fun and nice physics and beautiful visuals. My only problem is the russian/american bias. For those who dont know, the american p51 mustang series was legendary. In this game, it sucks ♥♥♥. The russian i-15 was a small biplane lightly armed and was historically used for recon, but in game, it can take down a-20g havocs apparently? So just expect historical nonsense but otherwise its LOTS of fun.

War Thunder

Overall a much more user friendly F2P game in the simulator offering. I would say its a better all around option, than the World of..... Series of games.

Game is fairly straight forward has massive variation of gameplay.

1) Easily Installed, can be adjusted both out of game and browser for graphics and loading speed mercy.
2) Easily Learned, players quickly learn the ins and outs of the game.
3) Hardcore modes and Easy Modes. And even more adjustment by upping or downplaying your vehicle tier system.
4) Campaign and Single Missions. Which is alot of extra RP and Lions.
5) Air and Ground research tabs, with some overlap in the Realistic Battles genre of the game modes.
6) Steam Sign In and use of the Steam Store page makes user interface and game security much more appealing.

1) Because this is F2P there is an element of microtransactions. You can get Bundles or Spend Steam Dollars for Eagles in game. If you want to make it a bit easier to play especially on the army side be prepared to spend at minimum 20 Steam Dollars to up your game.
2) There are some weird issues in the game where the vehicle level is noted, but not the crew level. Generally Expert and Ace Crews are very useful in game.
3) One can fast tech one of their crew to over 100 and then backtrack and play in lower tier games with added benefits. Which can lead to some weird issues.
4) Premium Accounts are especially helpful in fast teching your tech tier.
5) Grinding Bonaza. [Especially if you have low level crews.]

Warning this game is constantly being updated with units, so there is a possibility that gameplay can change even more so than when this review was posted.

TIP: ignore any crazy extra packs and spend money almost exclusively on leveling up at least 1 crew in both the air and army tabs. Some of the Premium Vehicles might be tempting but they too also become obsolete outside their tiers very fast. Army tab having a single high level crew is highly desirable. Especially with Expert and Ace perks for specific vehicles.

But then again you have to love killing a Panther tank with a Krak-72 Russian Technical style! Or leading the charge with a T-80 light tank, and having the heavies behind you.

Are you looking for a game that accurately portrays WWII warfare? Then look somewhere else because that is not this game. The balancing is terrible and not up to historical records. There are multiple instances of russian biases (they get double payload for standard shells, tu-4, etc.). It is a timesink. I cannot reccomend putting the time into getting RP for tiering up when the developers literally just copy paste vehicles across tiers. If you play free expect to grind across an eternity.

War Thunder. War Thunder never changes.

On august 15th, 2013, someones great great grandfather, who served in the army, wondered when he'd get to go home to his wife and brand new PC which he had never seen to play a WW2 sim. He got his wish when Gaijin released War Thunder, by dropping a download into a non translated Russian page.

The gaming community awaited Armageddon, instead, something terrible happened. Gaijin began to make the game not as an accurate sim, but as a source of nearly limitless propaganda. Russians enjoyed luxuries once thought the realm of Soviet WW2 fan fiction. T-34's, LaGG-3s, Mig-17s outclassing whatever they faced. But then, in 2015, people awoke from the euphoria induced dream.

Years of imbalance lead to shortages of nearly every major resource. The entire community unraveled. Fun became a distant memory.

It is now the year 2016. The community stands on the brink of total annihilation, and i am afraid for myself, my bank account, for my time wasted grinding.

Because if my time in the game taught me one thing: it's that War Thunder, War Thunder never changes.

my biggest problem is the devs, i mean, tbh they are not like those awkward devs when talking with the player, the devs can joke around quite well and trying to be player-friendly by releasing some player-made videos, guides and how to,etc., but the problem is, they are trying way. too. ♥♥♥♥ing. hard

like for real, when the player talks about some problems with the br, they literally dismissed it like a joke, it seems that they never take any complaints from the player base seriously

if you wanna play and have fun, choose the russian, because even if you are an absolute dimwit, and you can and WILL win the game, thats how messed up it is

I've played this game a lot, and everytime I play for a while I put it away again because i get frustrated with it, it is neither historically accurate nor balanced. It has problems that are not being fixed and bad community moderators that just shut you up. I'm not recommending this game.

The things I like about this game
1. Tanks and Planes
2. Realsic Physics(In Realistic, or Sim mode)
3. Realistic Damage Modules.

Things I do not like
1. The BR(Battle Rating) system is dumb, it is putting a 5.7, against a 7.0. Which a 5.7 can't damage. Gajin Needs to fix this, they did it because players were not getting in games fast enough, but that keeps happening because players keep leaving because they hate the battle rating system. Honestly the battle rating system has ruined the game for me.

2. They are bias to russia. Russia tanks in WW2 were not good, and they are fantastic in this game.

3. The last thing is that they are Censoring a lot of the Negative Ratings (They going to do it to me).

This could be a great game for people who love ww2 simulators like me, but it isnt even the pay to win that gets me, it is the play Russia to win. It is impossible to get fair matches due to the bias towards Russia in balance. I highly reccomend NOT playing this biased pay to win game.
