[Event] Large Calibres and Rocket Science!

From 15:00 GMT on October 14th to 07:00 GMT on October 17th
The events 'Large Calibres!' and 'Rocket Science'
will be available with +20% Research Points and & +20% Silver Lions bonuses!

Only enemies which have been destroyed and torn to shreds can be considered ‘not dangerous’, and so, what better way to achieve this than with large calibre weapons? Pilots and tankers, this weekend only, take part in these ‘one shots’ events: "Large Calibres" and "Rocket Science!"

Large Calibres
In the 'Large Calibres' Arcade event, the most hard-hitting aircraft, with 37mm cannons or higher, will go head to head in unforgiving aerial battles. Destroy enemies and lead your team to victory to achieve an additional bonus of +20% to your battle reward.

Rocket Science
In the “Rocket Science” event, ground vehicles which are armed with guided and unguided missiles will be pitted against one another in explosive combat! Victory will go to the team which is first to achieve 100 frags. It will be interesting to find out what is more dangerous: the precision of guided missiles, or the mad flurry of unguided missiles.
The event will take place on the location “ Tunisia”.

About This Game

War Thunder is a free-to-play, cross-platform MMO combat game for Windows, Linux, Mac and PlayStation®4 dedicated to military vehicles used in and around World War II and the Korean War. In War Thunder, you can take part in major battles on land, in the air, and at sea, fighting with real players from all over the world in a continuously developing environment.

War Thunder already offers a highly detailed experience in military aviation and ground forces combat, giving players access to a Guinness World Record breaking number of aircraft, as well as an abundance of tanks and other combat vehicles - and the number is constantly rising.

You can feel the unmatched intensity of aerial dogfights in a fighter, the decisive power of commanding a heavy strategic bomber or the heat of battle in a ground attacker, delivering precision strikes against your enemies. Alternatively, you can join the spearhead of armoured vehicles, fighting for dominance over the battlefield on the ground: Man a heavy tank with impressive armour and firepower, use the maneuverability of a medium or light tank to your advantage, or support your team by screening the skies with your anti aircraft vehicle - the choice is yours!

In the future, the game will also allow players to ‘set sail’ by commanding a variety of warships in the fight over the control of the world’s oceans, giving the game a truly epic scale.

Master your vehicles through both upgrades and personal experience in an environment that is constantly expanding and rewarding the personal skill of the player. Organise your efforts in one of the countless player squadrons and become an ace pilot or tanker - or both! Our thriving and welcoming community of millions of players is also actively participating in the game’s ongoing development, offering custom content through War Thunder Live, such as skins, missions and even vehicles.

Even though I am strongly addicted to the game, it's ridiculous the amount of time and efort, maybe even money you have to put in before you actually start having fun. The devs don't care about you, or the game. They want money. Don't buy premium. OVERPRICED BS. Reasearching one tank that might require 6,000 RP (research points) will take you about 7-8 games. Even if you do really well in a game, say like 8 kills, you'll barely get 1,000 RP. The game is way too damn grindy. It's annoying. It's so ♥♥♥♥ing unbalanced. Russians dominate tanks. 3 things that would change this review: 1. A balanced update. Not making eveything equal, but not making everything so damn Op and everything else with paper armour. 2. The RP system and researching tanks needs to buffed like hell. It is way too slow and frustrating especially for German tanks. 3. Primium is way too over priced. Want a year subscription? $120. F THAT. $5 a month. $50-$60 a year. I WILL BUY IT and so will many others. Also don't make it where you need to buy premium currency to buy a premium account. That's ♥♥♥♥ing ridiculous.

This game has so much potential and is probably one of the best WWII game sout right now, but the people behind it are money cows and wasting that potential. The game is slowly dying. All that's gonna be left are the rich people that have everything unlocked and will just demolish you, therefore leaving the game unplayable.

Fix it, or in 2 years there will be no War Thunder.

It is pretty hard to give this game a solid yes or no considering there is a lot to love AND to hate about this game.
- Amazing graphics
- Realistic, World of Tanks doesn't even come close to this level of realism
- Lots of different vehicles
- Well-optimised
- Not as pay to win as one might think

- Technically speaking however: it is pay to win
- Average toxic free to play community
- Unlocking tanks can be a real grind
- Game developers don't know what creating and maintaining a community is
- The game is meeting its end and the developers know it, they are now trying to squeeze as much money out of their remaining small playerbase

Every single update, Gaijin breaks the game more and more. Ask anyone with many hours in the game, and that's what they'll tell you. Every once in a great while, I come back to the game to see its current state, and oh boy, to no surprise, they ruin it up every single time. It's always something. It's always a broken flight model or damage model that stays broken for years, but conveniently, the developer's country of origin will always have the most cutting edge, despite having garbage heaps in WWII.

Their newest system, their blackout system from excessive geforce, likes to black your pilot out by just flying in a straight line. Hit detection is garbage, you cannot select the game mode, PS4 players are in the mix with their horrid network cards, so you'll have B-25s teleporting behind fighters and killing them, and it's very pay-to-win. You can buy foliage to camouflage yourself with, you can outright buy planes and tanks, and often times, those pay-to-win tanks and planes will have a lower battle rating than their legitimate counterparts.

If you want a game like this, sadly, everything else fails to come close. Even more unfortunate is that this very game fails to compare to what it used to be in 2013. Every single update ends up doing something wrong.

I had to write a review about this game because I have noticed the amount of ♥♥♥♥ this game has been getting lately, and with over 1,000 hours, I feel as if I am more than qualified to do so.

Yes, War Thunder is not a perfect game *gasp*, and I too have had my fair share of frustration at times. But when I sit back after a match and think about what I did wrong after being completely ♥♥♥♥ on, nine times out of ten it was my fault. Not angling my armor properly, being impatient and pushing so far up I get surrounded, etc. Thats what I love about this game. When you screw up, it's on you.

People are quick to cry wolf on the russian bias. Those people are also the ones who don't angle, flank, and mindlessly take on a heavy tank from the front. This game requires a plethora of skill which you will eventually require through practice and perserverance. Learn your tank/plane! Know your weaknesses and your strengths! This will help you tramendously in any situation. If instant gratification is something you are looking for, there's always COD.

Gaijin does a wonderful job updating the game fairly fast, and you can see they really do care about their community. They keep us updated and add new content almost every other month. They also do an excellent job hyping the following updates, giving players something to look forward to in the near future *COUGH COUGH BOATS*

Basically if you want me to cut the ♥♥♥♥ and get straight to the point of this review...

*Do not play this game if you are easily angered or impatient. YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE.

*If you are new to WT, give it a try for yourself instead of looking at the comments. This community really likes to whine. Don't let the comments plague your experience.

Most importantly, have fun, try not to think too much, and I'll see you in the skies!! o7

This game starts out fun but as you get into the high ranks, it starts taking 50 to 75 games to unlock a single tank or plane. Very often two or even three of these tanks or planes are indentical in every way, save the name, meaning you spent 200+/- games trying to advance past them to something new. At the same time you start seeing players who paid real money for tanks that are practically invincible. Suprise, they kill you at will. On top of all this, there is a terrbile bias towards the Russian faction and games are generally one by whichever team has more russian players.

Its a relativelly realistic game with LOTS of tanks, planes and soon ships. Also it has great graphics&sounds and LOW requirments. I dont recommend it THOUGH BECAUSE it has almost no balance, 0% historical accuracy in battles (Tigers are playing against Caernavons) and weird bugs ( OftenShots from a King Tiger rickoshet a T-34 with no angle or any explanation) and it is also considered by many Russian Bias (it has Russian Developers and Russian tanks are a bit stronger than they should). IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REALISTIC WW2 GAME THIS IS NOT FOR YOU !!! In any other case you might like it.

Okay, this is the third review I had to write for this game. All my past reviews have been EXTREMELY negative. Mostly, those reviews were written on bad losing sprees so I was salty as ♥♥♥♥. Also, I will focus on the Aircraft mode of the Game, because that's gamemode that I know most about. Sorry, tankers. So, on with the review.

So, War Thunder. I've been playing this game for about a year now. I also invested a sizeable sum of money and my soul into this game. In that time, I have been able to get most of the American tech tree and quite a good way along into the other nations. Looking back on it now, I can take a look at War Thunder see it's not as bad as everyone and their mothers make it out to be on Steam. Yes, often Gaijin seemingly does do some things in this game are absolutely wrong and asinine. But I'll get into that more later in the review.

I mostly main the US because America and I can tell you the errors of the pilot don't have to be attributed to the performance of the plane. Often, I've seen pilots, in superb aircraft mind you, climb right towards Japanese, British, Russians, and/or Germans (who climb pretty well), go head on or turn fight, and then wonder why they get f@#ked up. Then they scream "BIAS!!!!" from the mountain tops and beg Gaijin constantly for changes that AREN'T NEEDED.

Now, Gaijin does indeed do ♥♥♥♥♥♥ business practices. If you're not to be aware, well this paragraph is dedicated to addressing the stupid stuff. Adding an absurdly OP strategic bomber with high caliber, high velocity cannons to jet gameplay, be able to kill everything that comes its way and bomb your bases back to the stone age, and have it be a damage sponge. Or compressing jet BRs into a hot mess where you begin to see F-80Cs and Me-262s face Hawker Hunters and F-2 Sabres. Furthermore, making repair costs different between nations, examples being you have to pay an absurd ammount of lions (in game currency) to repair one nation's plane and not as much as another nation's aircraft with the same rank and at the same BR. Along with Gaijin's rather shady practice of adding bits of info (bomb loads, engine performance, turn radiuses, rate of climb etc.) that are questionable regarding there is little to no historical evidence to support Gaijin's claims.

Now, you can see that Gaijin isn't the most SAINTLY group of game developers. But, with all of that, does that mean every single thing about this game is ruined? No, it's not. You need not to reflect your distain towards the game on those who probably aren't as far ahead as you. And if you get so frustrated playing the same thing over and over, and not getting the results you desire, remember: You can put the game aside, relax, and then try again. It's a game. I get salty as ♥♥♥♥ too when I get killed, rammed, or TK'd. Yet I just take it in stride and move on. And if that's so hard for you to do, then I'd suggest you do yourself a favor and put this game down for a while.

So, in short and conclusion, you're welcome to try War Thunder. If you like it, welcome to the community. If not, then move on. Simple as that. So please, do try War Thunder out. If not, you can move on and try something else.

This game is interesting, yet its so addictive and has great graphics, it is completely rigged with many problems!!! You keep shooting and killing all crew of a tank, which will take around 5 APRs, then suddenly it comes back to life and kill you with a round which enters the tank though ceiling, bounces off to the bottom of the tank, makes it way toward the engine and explodes!!!! I mean, COME ON!!!!!!! And its totaly pay to win! Dont get fooled by "Free to play"!! Also this game possess one the worst team making and match making systems!! Almost always from the beginning of the matches one time has better and higher tanks!! Since i have been to both over powered and under powered teams i can easily approve this!!!

This game is pretty ♥♥♥♥. Gaijin being the ♥♥♥♥ they are have still not fix the many problems of the game as they don't listen the community. Adding more crap that we doing really need, instead of bloody "FIXING" the game. Plus with the war thunder meda right now, I don't even know what to say anymore. The community is just toxic and salty half, actually most of the time. Minor/major patchs that don't even make sense or is just completely unless, and the pay to win deal kinda deal (I know, I fell this illusion as well). I think the only good thing that I have to say about this game is graphics wiss, being one very, very pretty ♥♥♥ game.

OK, so lemme start this off by saying the game itself is absolutley amazing and is EVERYTHING you would want in a F2P game featuring ww2 tanks and planes, bombs up to 5000kg that decimate huge areas, 152mm cannons on HUGE russian tanks, all the iconic ww2 tanks and planes plus many more you have never seen, BUT the community (except a few youtubers) are cancerous as ♥♥♥♥, if you play RB battles which is basically hardcore, you get spawn camped by the cancerous community, and i dont mean spawn trapped as in sitting outside your spawn i mean literally IN your spawn, if you pick british tanks you are outclassed right from the start, if you pick german tanks all you have to do is click to win, as in a 88m gun truck that is WAY outside its tier, the developers dont do much about anything that could use a fix, they mostly focus on new content, which is nice to try new vehicles, but if you dont play german tanks you lose and if you dont play british or japanese air you lose, Russian tanks are very good and have they're good parts, but since the last patch the germans are entirley OP for some reason,so to make this review shorter lemme just say this, i ABSOLUTLEY love this game, i think al the mechanics execpt a few that REALLY matter are missing, and it is very unbalanced, but if you dont mind watching your own tank explode in your spawn repeatedly, sure click the download button and give it a shot.

The game was once booming with new players coming in with starry eyes......Now the end has come, playing in low tier arcade for the lols had nearly broke my mouse due to Realisitic high levels spawn camping. The spawn camping problem doesnt stop there either, it happens within city maps in tanks, which is caused by the horrific grind.

When can warthunder return to the good ol days where there was a 20 level system for each nation and leveling up in a nation made you unlock planes with the corresponding level and only create a credit grind, but now the game is starting to ♥♥♥♥ itself over with ATGMs going against conventional tanks with no ERA or APS and people that are sick and tired of the grind they will milk the spawns of air battles, ruining the fun for other players to make their grind suck less.
