[Special] Lend Lease, the Neutral Savior

From 17.00 GMT on November 14th to 07.00 GMT on November 17th

Rare Soviet Spitfire Mk.IX is available for purchase!

September 1939 war broke out and America stood a firm stance at being “Neutral”, but in Europe, Germany had pushed their forces from victory to victory. It was then President Roosevelt looked at ways to help aid countries in need while still staying neutral. By late 1940 a plan was devised and then passed in March 1941 for the Lend-lease Act, this was the means that the president and congress could aid countries like Britain, Soviet Union, China and other countries the means of Military support through surplus of arms and any other defense materials without being directly involved in the conflict.

Lend-lease also allowed transfer of much needed war support without the war payment as per the Neutrality Act of 1939, in turn this allowed countries to continue fighting for their freedom. This was also a means to avoid the problematic issue of war debts like in WWI. But in doing this was also a means that the United States was one step closer to the war itself.

Lend-Lease tanks

A total of 22,800 Armoured vehicles were aided to the Soviet Union alone which counted for 20 percent of it’s total number of tanks produced in that country. In 1941 487 Matilda’s, Tetrarch’s and Valentine tanks along with 182 Stuart light tanks and M3 Lee’s were sent from both Britain and the United States. Again in 1942 the Soviet Union was aided with a further 3,023 tanks from the USA and a further 2487 tanks from Britain. Lend-Lease also supplied 501,660 tactical vehicles which included jeeps, 1-½ and 2-½ ton trucks. The aid to the Soviet Union did not stop there as 15,631 Artillery guns were supplied along with 131,633 sub-machine guns by the allies also.

Lend-Lease aircraft

Mid 1941 two squadron’s of Hawker Hurricanes were flown to the Soviet Union by RAF pilots and handed to Russia. In total there was 13,208 of all types of aircraft sent by US and 4,613 by Britain in 1942-1944 via the Lend-Lease Act.

The American aircraft included were: Curtiss P-40, Bell P-39 Airacobra, Bell P-63 Kingcobra, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, B-25 Mitchell, and the Douglas A-20 Boston.

The British aircraft were: Curtiss Tomahawks Kittyhawks, Hawker Hurricane, Spitfire Mk V, Spitfire Mk IX, Handley Page Hampden, and the Armstrong Albemarle.

Even though a large amount of munitions, tactical vehicles and tanks were part of the Lend Lease act, so was food, clothing and locomotives. This was also a two way street or “Reverse Lend-Lease” where the US received goods and services back when they finally entered the war. Materials such as the SuperMarine Spitfire were provided by the British, food and bases along with logistics were given by the Commonwealth Nations. Other things given to the US were the Mosquito aircraft and patrol boats. The sum of $7.8 Billion was given back this way to the US in the Reverse lend-lease.

All the good the lend-lease did it still came to an abrupt end in September 1945 with a total amount provided worth $50.1 Billion ($656 Billion in today’s market) to the allies during WWII. With this alone, the USA already influenced the outcome of the war significantly.

Only play this game in short bursts. It is fun, but the game is unbalanced and frustrating to play.

Game used to be very fun, but it has turned into a monster grind. As others have stated, I don't mind them encouraging payment, but the prices are too high. I'm just glad I unlocked quite a few planes before it became this grind fest.

I was a hardcore fan of this game. Initially when I acquired the hours on this game it was amazing. The aircraft where historically accurate and amazingly detailed. The gameplay was fun and teams were developing nicely. Now it’s a piece of trash. Everything has been nerved except anything Stalin would get sexually aroused by. The gameplay has become so unbalanced that the USSR team win realistic battles 90% of the time!! The combat ratings are so broken my tier 2 FW will be put against tier 4 aircraft which outperform it in every way other than fire power. The game has become unplayable and this is my 2nd and hoefully final rage quit. Finally I will say that this game has great allure, because of the detail and effort Gaijin put into the game. I cannot understand why they are ruining it with stupid issues such as a biased combat rating and buffing a particular team. You want to play as the USSR this game is 10/10. Play as any other team prepare to crash and burn. Enjoy!

Since the lastest patches . The balance in this game went competely crappish and lost all his fun. The only way to have fun is by playing the two unique nations ( on 5 , but the 3 others are the crappiest thank to the devs having no idea what is balacing)

Regarding the historical accurate.. Its nothing but pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Being a simmer for more than 10 years i was exspecting more from this game from all the hype i had heard, yeah its a fun game if you want quick action or you like the onslaught of planes ramming you continously or even if you love to fight 10 other teamates to fight one enemy you will love this game or if you like to have kills taken away at the last second and get a crappy little assist reward for doing most of the work this is for you. i do think its targeted at the under 10's who know little or nothing about ww2 aircraft or its behaviour,Grapics and a few small features is the only thing thats really nice compared other ww2 flight games ,well alot of the bombers have no cockpit make the game feel half finished, russian planes well where do i start ..hint if you play, play russian lol........they seem to have this uncanny knack of taking down bombers & fighters with a single bullet among other things to many to list The game developers come across as being still ♥♥♥♥ed 70 years on that their Russian pilots got their ♥♥♥'s handed to them for 4 years straight so they try to make up for it in the game.Seriously if you looking for a good ww2 simiulation this is any thing but! go play good old il21946 with all its mods or cliffs of dover.but if you dont care about realisim, flight models,no teamwork, ramming or spending money this is the game for you :) but seriously dont get this its crap!! soend your money on a real ww2 sim.

This game used to be fun but now i have to fight Canberras introduced in 1954 with my Ki-84 (1944). We don't need new maps, new features, new op planes or useless gamemodes - we need to get rid of the horrible BR system.

Really great game, extremely intuitive and fluid. 9001/10 (sarcasm)

It's a really great game engine that runs really well, the damage modeling is great, although it gets repetitive as the damage is not random. There isn't really anything else to say other than this about it.
The Tank engine is way worse, as they didn't even smooth out the ground you drive on so it's very easy to see the geometric shape of the landscape, and you can hit little tiny rocks, and completely destroy your tank aswell.

It's not that great after they started nerfing all the countries except for Russia (they would BUFF Russia)
And they game REALLY fell apart when they released tanks, I used to like this game as you can see by the hours I have
on it. Not to mention I have played this for many months, and I just barely got to the point I can start researching a jet.
Yes, a single freaking jet, on one country.

Anyways, Long story short. This game USED to be great, but now it's almost complete trash, and the only country worthwhile is Russia. Or Perhaps Japan with Historical battles because of a jet you can get.

Not Recommended as of this time, (( The real rating will be a 4/10. Great game ruined by bad devs. ))

If there's anything good to be said about War Thunder, then that is the graphics, because it is truly impressive and beautiful. The planes are all nicely worked out, and there's nothing like an airplane falling from the sky unloading machine guns on an enemy fighter, as well as the explosions and fires equally impressive.
The sounds that accompany all the bullets, guns, bombs, rockets and anti-aircraft artillery are pretty impressive (and very high!). The music is appropriate and of good quality, but forgettable, since we are busy enjoying the blue backdrop. We can also paint our planes with a variety of different emblems and symbols to our liking. There are also several maps, and some of them with a night mode.

War Thunder is an interesting beast. Its closest competitors are both flight sims and the super-arcadey World of Tanks/Warplanes, with WT filling a niche in the center. It is for that reason that I enjoy it so much. However, the "base" game mode is the Arcade difficulty, which is where Gaijin is clearly targetting. A good majority of the game's balance is based around Arcade, and the most interesting mechanics abound there. Realistic is where the most involved players tend to congregate, however, and the split between developer and fan focus creates some "interesting" dynamics in balance and gameplay. And by interesting I mean horrible.

Though there are certain aspects of the game that *are* balanced, there are others that have gone from horrendously overpowered to nearly useless in successive patches. Most notably, bombers such as the B-17 were previously unstoppable death machines in all game modes, however as of patch 1.43 they have become almost paper in Realistic. Though marginally more effective in Arcade (as with many changes this points toward developer focus) they are no longer the research/currency printing machines they once were.

Of course, even with these issues, I have almost 600 hours in the game. How, if it's so poorly balanced? Well, simply, it's fun. WoT is much more arcadey and has very different mechanics than WT's ground forces, and I like the higher-risk feel of WT's more "realistic" damage modeling. The replacement of WoT/WoWP's hp system with internally modeled components and armor penetration (which is obfuscated in the other games) makes it feel like you get more information and feedback. The planes feel easier to control. You can one-shot people if you're skilled enough. There are dozens of vehicles to unlock and very few of them are pre-war no-name biplanes or tanks. The graphics engine is very very pretty.

I honestly don't know. I love the game, but also hate it. And here I am logging in again.

I first picked up this game about a year ago and instantly fell in love with it. the controls and flight models of the aircraft make the experience feel quite realistic and this is probably my favorite aspect of the game, although a bitboring at the start this game picks up REALLY quickly once you advance into tiers 2 & 3, anyone who was dissapointed with world of warplanes will LOVE this, definetly 10/10

As a WoT veteran I would say this game beats the living crap out of WoT. I would recommend all players who is still playing WoT to just give this game a chance and you'll see what I mean.

Nice realistic feel in the tanks and far more challenging to the driving itself, it's not just to stop and shoot anymore, you have to be gentle with the controls so your vehicle doesn't spin around or flips beacause you have gone over a rock in high speed.

I also appretiate the economics in this game, you can still play this game on a free account and still be able to taste the whole research tree and so on.

Average graphics, Great sounds, Awesome gameplay. 8/10

The game is very fun if you ignore all historical value this game once promised. While in Closed beta the devs were very clear that the historical timelines would be the building blocks for this game. For example a very common aircraft like the 109 G6 or P51 would be more common because the repair cost and xp reward would be greater then aircraft that would be considered over powered for the year it flew. So in 1945 when 262 would be seen. The 262's cost of repair, ammo, and xp would give you no reward that would make it worth running it too much. Now the devs only see the money, not the historical value. If anyone opened a history book on the P63 and the P36 you'd see they had a habit to flat spin. I understand there is a Simulation mode, but that still doesn't adjust the year differences. An F6F has no buisness seeing HE112s! A late 1930s plane versus a mid 1940s plane.... I either will say the devs really just don't care about their older fans, or that most pilots of the US planes are so bad and complain so much that they need to be matched with planes from pre and early stages of the war. The Devs don't like the Japanese, they get a plane every 4 or 5 patches. The Russians are armed to the teeth with 1950s clubbing seals on 1945 German planes (execpt the Mig and F86)... Again my biggest gripe with this game is the Devs changing the one promise that made them stand out. For those who don't care about historical value you'll love this game. For those who are fanatacis about WWII aviation and armor you will be disappointed by the following(assuming you don't buy your way up the tree); Airforces (teir/nation) Russian:5 Japan:3 US:5 German:4 Britiain:4 ground forces German:4 Russian:5. I've played all the nations and grinded every tank and plane with out buying my way up the tree and with out using only premium planes. In WoT yeah I milked the Type 59 for every xp and credit it would let me take. Crap off topic, again not historical and will please the biggest spenders... the Americans and Russians.

Oh and the reason they keep the 262 at tier 5 with a battle rating to meet the F86s and Mig 15s.... it's 30s! The HE162 was hit with the nerf club, so grinding the German Mig 15 is impossible and will take a life time to grind with out the 130% gain from the HE162.

It's been said before and I will say it here. The other major killer of this game is the teams... I have been on some teams that just know what they are doing! They can aim, they know how to use altitude, BnZ, and stall fighting.... but that is rare 70% your team will be stuck on the deck killing AI and shooting AAA with a high altitude fighter.

Also high altitude fighters like the TA 152, FW 190Ds, P51s, ect never really see the best of thier abilities because the fights again never make it above 5km. The Yak fighters historally were great on the deck and at low altitudes. With out a doubt there!

WoT vs WT ground forces.... at least WoT is less grindy. The one BIG plus to WT groundforces, none of that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lower plate weak ♥♥♥♥ for the German armor! More importantly when the US tanks are launched none of that weak hull crap either. The M103 was a beast in real life and I expect to see it tear IS4s and T54s apart. The KT 105 is less leathel then the KT in tier 4. Don't grind for German tier 5 it's not worth it. Get Tier 4..... if the grind doesn't kill you.

When GF first came out the Simulator game mode was amazing! The experience was AMAZING! and the credits poured in! Then the Devs demanded more money and longer grinds and beat the crap out of GF. I literally made it to Tier 4 in about two days from the initial release of GF. Both Russian and German trees.... now... pffft I still am not close to getting my Tier 5 tank because it's too painful to play this arcade crap!

This game does every nice but in it's core it is a Pay to Win game and is sold as such.

If the game was $60 and removed it's Pay to Win model then it would be worth every cent.
