What I liked:
  • Campy stupid enemies and lots of them to kill
  • Fun overpowered weapons
What You Need to Know:
  • This game runs @ 30 fps, unless you download a mod to fix it,stupid developer
  • This game is very grindy in terms of leveling up, pair that with very mindless gameplay, this will not be fore alot of people
  • The reload mechanics is similiar to Gears of War, but the window to perfect reload is so small, it's annoying asf.
  • The bosses are fun, but some take too much damage, like the queen ant, she is a b*tch.
  • You get 4 classes to choose from:
tank with high capacity weapons and shield
jetpack with snipers(jetpack is weak though)
assault is jack of all trades, with fast reload and revive and can use all weapons
tactical which has deployable turrets and mines
  • Voice chat is always on and is gargabe. You will hear echo from the game when chatting with friends in discord
  • If you don't plan on replaying this game, it is really short and ends restarting the first mission right away. lol

My Score:

Recieved as a Gift
Completed in:5 hours( more if replayed)

Games similar:
  • Earth Defense Force 4.1 ( has more content)

I wasn't expecting much but I ended up playing through it exclusively. Blasting bugs felt great and the changing objectives & voiceovers really make you feel like you're leading your squad on a mission in Starship Troopers! BRAVO ZULU, LIGHTNING!

EDF! EDF! EDF! Was a blast to play through on my first walkthrough. Second walkthrough though. Well, it's a good way to get yourself to fall asleep I guess.

Many will criticize this game for "being horrible", "a laughing stock of the EDF lineup", "the ants are racist", and "it gave my dog hives and slept with my aunt Ruth!". The criticizing never ends when this game is mentioned in the same paragraph with "EDF". However it's not THAT BAD of a game. Really, it's got a special spot on the shelf next to other EDF games. I will admit that I DID have more fun with 2017 and 4.1(japan 1st, then PS4, soon *PC) as they had many more levels, more variety, and more replayability in acquiring stuff. (side note: I was so excited about EDF 4.1 that bought the Japanese version when it released on PS4. Then the US version when it released for PS4. As soon as the Steam edition hits a sale I'm buying it too!) So those are better games and are true to the feel of what people call EDF. However this game is STILL and EDF title, it is just by a different publisher and that means it has a different feel and taste to it. Is it awesome? YES. Is it full of bugs? :P YES, and spiders, and giant metal mantis robots too! (no software bugs that I've found!) Also unlike 4.1 (as of yet 8/16) it does have genocide guns for each of the armors, which are freaking awesome.

So is it worth whatever they are charging for it? Yes! On sale? Grab it!

Two things... go out and search for how to change the fps to 60. I was one my last achievement grind before I found out about this and it looks much more crisp and PC-like. Also do yourself a huge favor and spend at least an hour of shooting Kicker (npc) on the first stage. Just get it out of your system early so you won't waste time doing it later. Trust me... that jerk brought me and Cyrus (other NPC) to our knees WAAAAAYYYYYY too many times.

K, awesome game, get it if you like EDF and are bored for some reason. Also EDF 4.1 >>> EDF:IA. It just does. But this is like.... pre EDF 4.1 so... it's alright. Get both!

This game is always a game I recommend to all my friends. If you like playing games with your friends and working as a team, this is your game.

I would also recommend that you play it on Hard and not Normal so you can really appreciate the game's mechanics. Normal is far too easy and you can pretty much do your own thing even when in a team. But if you play it on Hard, you have to really coordinate with your teammates and cover one another. You are guaranteed to lose, but that means you have to strategize better. Playing on Inferno is like playing on Hard, but everything has a lot more health.

If you like a fun challenge, play this game.

This game is quite a blast. Make sure you download the patched exe to raise the frame rate limit to
60FPS . This will make the game play at up to 60 Frames / sec as the cap opposted to the default 30 fps.
Makes a huge difference in gameplay.

Any bad review you see on this game will be mostly due to the fact that the drop boxes are not done the same for weapon pickups , and you have to activate areas sometimes.

This for 9.99 is a no brainer. It has a faster pace for defending off waves of enemies , and sometimes it seems they won't ever end. Unlike the other Earth Defense ( EDF 4.1 is the only other one currently) This verison lets you run, dodge better and if your timings great, you can get a 1/2X's faster reload. I feel this adds more complexity to the game and beign able to run and dodge better makes the game feel more immersive.

Enemies seem smarter. On Earth Defense Force 4.1 the ants and enmies seem to just runn around like there on crack 1/2 the time. In Insect Armageddon the enemies seem to fight with a killer instinct, the robots come charging with command, not just steping forward one step at a time with 4.1 (Earth Defense Force 4.1 is a Great Game, I'm just driving home the highlights on Insect Armageddon).

Your AI teammates in Insect Armageddon are much more helpful than in EDF 4.1, if they die, you can revive them , if you die they can revive you, you also get all your health back , not 1/2 the life of the person reviving you and vice versa.

Despite this being a older game, the 3d , colors , explosions and feel holds up great. EDF 4.1 just came out 7/2016 and this still holds its one in the graphics department.

I'd have to say if you never played a EDF game before, your gonna love it, if you have played EDF on another console or 4.1 on steam you can like it too, you just have to get over the differnces that I described above.

I recommend to buy both this and EDF 4.1 , both of them are great and this one should not have been gave the bad wrap that some revierws tend to give it.

A darker, grittier version of the wacky budget game Earth Defense Force. While it is certainly the most visually impressive installment in the EDF series, it also feels the most hollow. As far as I'm concerned (and I'm sure many EDF fans will agree with me) much of the charm the series possesses comes from the over-the-top, colorful and corny action and dialouge which is completely lacking this time around.

Don't get me wrong, the massive hordes of insects to shoot are still there and the gameplay has hardly changed at all, but it still doesn't "feel" like an EDF game to me. The drab colors and serious overtones make it seem like this game was a blatant attempt to cash in on the often too serious and "dramatic" American war movie tier trope seen in games like Call of Duty and the like.

All things considered it is a decent little timewaster if you're just looking for that mindless shooting itch to scratch and for ten bucks you could definitely do worse.

My advice though, if you're looking for the definitive EDF experience that you may have heard others gush about, get EDF 4.1 and ONLY jump to this one if you've exhausted yourself on that and are looking for a bit more.

WOW! looks like a DX7 game to me.... lots of grinding... I really thought I would love this game, but seems like a bad XBox port to me, tons of graphic problems with my 970's, but on a positive not it doesnt crash, not so far at least. If you really have to have this game, like i did, just be sure its heavily discounted. If you loved Starship Troopers, its pretty much a must have, otherwise stear clear... But on a positive note it should be able to run on about anything, its not very demanding of a game.... Its about a 5/10 for me, and I love B grade....

This game is good, but there are thousands of bugs and it gets really annoying. I cant play the game for a minute without coming accross a bug, and it gets very frustrating.

"You're it until you're dead or I find someone better!"

Spiders and ticks and ants, OH MY! Where do I start? Bugs, guns, some kind of invisible wall? Seriously fun game that doesn't take itself too serious. This game is well worth the full price.

A third person shooter that's easy to pick up and as fun to play solo as it is with friends. Select one of four unique armors, choose from over 200 weapons, and get ready to kick some major bug butt.

Once on the field, the commentary between allies and the tips provided by the higher ups will have you laughing everytime.

As for those that typically avoid ports for their many faults and issues, you'll find none of that here. Outside of one spelling error this game is near flawless. Complete key binding, full controller support, and satasfactory graphics settings.

If this game is considered one of the weaker Earth Defense Force games, I can't wait to play the other ones because I absolutely love this game.

It feels kindof like Starship Troopers. The missions are quite long and feel like mini-movies. Kill the space ants!

It's almost 3 years after it's release, and they still kick ♥♥♥.

Like Arcade ish gameplay? Check.
Like Explosions...And Lot's Of them? Check
Like Shotguns that have HOMING pellets? Sure!
Like Killing Bugs With a MIRV Missile? It's here!
Aaand many more!

When Ameican Studios Touch Japanese games, They tend to make it WORSE (Take example of Ace combat Assault horizon, it makes the Ace combat look like "Call of duty in skies" They messed up too much, and especially Too many DLCs) But this one, Not many has changed....I'm impressed.
The Campaign is fun, but it's more fun if you're with your friend! And no tutorial needed, You proably know how an FPS Work, So yeah, BLAST THEM TO PIECES!
Although The gun sounds are quite decent, graphics are decent, almost everything is decent, But they're similliar to Sandlot's (The makers of the Japanese EDF games) EDF Games.

-LOTS OF BUGS! (Litterally!)

-Gun Sounds are....Okay, but not good.
-The soundtrack Needs to Be LOUDER
- Weapon World models are kinda limited
- Kinda Feels "Lonely"
- Multiplayer Seems Dead.

9/10 WOULD BUY!!
