I've played Nancy Drew games for as long as I can remember. I still have my original copy of "Secrets Can Kill". (Not the remastered one. That original, old as ♥♥♥♥ one, ya'll.)

The newer games in recent years have really advanced, in my opinion. In a good way. This game, among the newer releases I mentioned, takes the top thus far. Although there are some classic oldies for me that could never be replaced (Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake, The Final Scene, Curse of Blackmoor Manor, etc.) Ghost of Thornton Hall took the best qualities of past games and added a few new concepts that improved the overall story-telling.

This game's story in particular was beautifully detailed and dark. I adored the character development as well as the plethora of interesting but disturbed personalities. For God's sake, HARPER. I love you, you batty, un-bathed, fume-inhaling woman!

The history that drove this game is unmatched, in my opinion. Although I'm sure other games provide more "reading", the quality and context of the reading in this one didn't JUST help with solving puzzles, but added to the atmosphere and overall enjoyment of the play through.

I loved the ghostly encounters and [SPOILER ALERT] being able to choose how the game ends (to a certain degree). It was a clever installment and an irresistible plot. I look forward to more NDs like this in the future.

When I bought this game for my brother and I to play over the holiday for old time's sake, I wasn't expecting for us (both adults) to scream multiple times while playing. But we did. Maybe that just means we're big weenies, though I'd like to think that just means HER Interactive made a solidly creepy game. I loved the atmosphere of this game, as well as the backstory. While I had hoped for more oomph in the resolution, I - we - enjoyed our time at Thornton Hall.

I absolutely loved this game. I have played quite a few of the Nancy Drew games, and this was definitely one of the best as far as storyline and the puzzles are concerned. It might have been the scariest as well, although that really depends on what makes you scared. If you are a serious gamer, you can't expect these games to have the kinds of graphics and interaction that other games have (i.e. Portal), but for what they are, they are very well done and fairly entertaining. If you are looking for a nice and relaxing challenge, play it on senior detective. Junior is pretty easy and is better done for simple storyline purposes. If there are puzzles you have a hard time with, HerInteractive has a forum board set up with hints for the puzzles and sections where it might not be clear what you should do, but I didn't have to make use of that as this game was pretty well streamlined. I recommend it as a good puzzle game.

I am a huge fan of Nancy Drew Games, having played them for almost 16 years. I've played almost all of them. (haven't played 7 Ships, Trail/Twister, Deadly Device)
Right from the original Secrets Can Kill with its original 2 CDs (yup 2 of them were needed to hold a whopping 16 mb of RAM :D ) up to Thornton Hall. I am a huge fan of the earlier ND games so I wasn't sure if I'd like the newest ones

I must say that HI has outdone itself with this game.
This was one of the best ND games I've played in quite awhile. I wasn't sure if HI was able to pull it off after Waverly Academy (seriously had my doubts about that one too but HI proved me wrong there as well!) but they did it again!

Talk about atmosphere! It had the type of scares that actually made my stomach churn.. and that's not an easy task. It had the old fashioned, creepy scares of Haunted Mansion (with WAY better voice acting) , a variety of interesting puzzles that ranged from easy to hard (and with helpful hints for those of us that are puzzle challenged, bless you HI!). There were plenty of places to explore for those of us who are rather nosy.O and the story?? I loved it! You actually felt for the folks in the story and really wanted to help them all out. Good job HI

It's a point-and-click game with easy and hard detective settings. If I am correct, I believe there are 3 endings.
I played on a Windows 7. 3gb RAM. Intel core 2 Duo PC @ 2.33 GHz and it didn't feel 'heavy ' on my PC
I finished it in about 15 hours but I played the easy setting with loads of hints.

4 1/2 out of 5 stars

PS I have Amnesia but I hate it and would trade Amneisa for a Nancy Drew Game in a heartbeat

A very mysterious and quite scary game. The puzzles aren't impossible and the setting is great. I didn't like the story however and there weren't as many characters as I would have liked but overall, a great game.

This Nancy Drew game had a great atmosphere and an interesting cast of characters in addition to the storytelling. The paranormal aspect of the game was spooky without being corny and the action started off right away. There was a lot of interesting dialogue and plenty of independent exploring with a lot of new locations and surprises along the way. I really enjoyed Ghost of Thorton Hall and I think it was sufficiently challenging without being overbearing about it. I'll definitely be revisiting this one!

I'm sure it's a great story; everyone else seems to think so. But there's no way I could reccomend this game. Why?

Because the engine running the game is so god damned dated that it's impossible to drag any enjoyment from it at all. In the days of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Gone Home, Esther, etc... There's just no excuse for this game to be this half ♥♥♥♥♥. Click this arrow, move 2 feet, click this arrow, move 2 more feet so you can see this wall. What's on this wall? Nothing at all. There is zero immersion in this game, though not for lack of their sound team trying.

When this game costs as much or more than it's direct competition, and is getting soundly beat by these new indie studios, the drawing board needs to be brought out, meetings called, and heads rolled. This ♥♥♥♥ is unexcusable.

I've been playing Nancy Drew games since about 2001, and I've played almost all of them. This one looked particularly good to me from the trailer, and it did not disappoint. It wasn't as challenging as some others (Crystal Skull comes to mind) but it was not overly easy either. I also enjoyed the plot, and the ability to choose how it ended (to a degree) was quite interesting. Overall, I'd probably put it in my top 5 ND games.
