I completed this game in around 3 hours. That being so, 11 pound might seem a trifle steep... But it isn't, let me explain why.

The game is platformer with various puzzles that are all relatively easy to solve. You contrrol two characters: the little brother, and the big brother. You often have to combine the two to negotiate the challenges the landscape poses. For example; can't yank a lever with the little brother? Well you'll need the big brother for that then. Can't fit the big brother through some railings? Thats where you're little bro comes in handy.

Aside from these gameplay features, the game features a charming art style and a folkloric fantasy world which rarely deviates from standard scandinavian fantasy tropes.

So far it seems pretty standard fare, right?

Where this game succeeds is the way it builds a strong emotional connection between the player and the game's protagonists. No mean feat considering our protagonist are speaking a different language (no subtitles are offered either).

It's difficult for me to explain how the game does this so well without depriving you of the pleasure of experiencing it all first hand. All I can say is that this is a game about family and friendship, about adventure and companionship, and about those all too human emotions that require no vehicle of language for translation.

This game is a work of art. A benchmark for all game designers trying to connect their audiences with their creations.

Basically, just pay the 11 quid and thank me later. You won't regret it.

Finally finished this game after much procrastination.

So glad I finished the game. The story was unexpectedly great!
I got it for $1.50 and at first I was only interested in the cool gameplay of controlling two characters at once.
But then the story got so good!
And the aesthetics are amazing!
Buy this game!!

If there was ever a game to bring up in the "games as art" debate this would be it. Not because of its graphics or story (even tho both are great) but because of the way it uses interactivity to tell its story in a way that no other medium could have done.

At its core Brothers is a puzzle game with a unique control scheme. You play as two brothers on a quest to find a cure for their sick dad and each brother is controlled using one of your analog sticks. This takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it you get to experience some really cool puzzles that are all based on the fact that you're controlling two characters at the same time.

I can't write a review that comes even close to doing it justice so I'll just say that Brothers is one of my favorite games ever made. It's a complete masterpiece and a couple of moments in the game gave me shivers and almost brought me to tears. On the other hand I've seen playthroughs on youtube where the player doesn't have nearly the same reactions as I had to certain key points in the game, but yet they've all agreed that the game is amazing.

Just go play the game for yourself. Worst case scenario you won't regret it and at its best it'll make you re-evaluate what can be done with videogames.

What can i say for this game. In the midle of the game i wanted to write a review about how cool it was to cut giants parts , bath your self into giants blood and do awesome staff.. But now that i ended the emotion that it offered me overflows from my feelings box..

The game is a road full of surprises, goes from sweet feelings , to sad, to sweet, to sad and goes on, but somehow the sadness seems familiar and you can make it part of you..

It is a simple and soon game, it will end soon but the emotions taht it offers are from an other place.. I had long time to play such an excellent game. Ofc some tiems it lucks into some controls or graphice, you cannot make it run 1080p HD but itt looks so pretty and smooth.

I got it on sales, so i didn't pay much, which made me enjoy it even more! I would recommend it to all of you to try it, it is a sweet and nice game

It's a Tale about 2 brothers.
"Yes, thats obvious from the title cyna, duh!!."

Ok, So What if i told you, it has :

+Great dual platforming.... simultaneously
+Simple yet fun Gameplay mechanics
+Beautiful Scenery+++++ Most Screenshots i've taken for a game till now.
+Epic Sense of Adventure++++++
+the Right music at the right time
+A Modest Story thats just enough to get you emotionally involved.

"Ah cyna, Now i'm interested, but what about the short playtime??"

Well, Thats enough to make you appreciate the Game and the fact that you paid for something well worth your time. Too much puzzle solving woulda drowned the emotional ties to the game.

8/10 for me. Most of you may have played it by now, but if you have'nt, Go play it.

P.S: Best Played with a controller.

I can undoubtedly state that this game is one of the few masterpieces out there. I give it a solid 10/10 and even more than that. It's by far the best game i have played. The story and the gameplay complement each other making this a beautiful piece of art.

You control 2 brothers with 1 controller.
You may struggle with it, but it is the point.

This game is more about the story than any other thing. Graphics, music, story are beautifull very explicit and made my son cry.

If you search for some diffucult platerformer, this is not for you. The game itself is not really difficult, puzzles goes from easy to medium at most and you can really take your time to do them. And it's a good thing because you control the big bro' with the left side of your controller and lil' one with the right side, witch seems quite odd at the beginning. You can get used to it but not really confortable with it and need to really think sometimes what hand you need to move. Controls are probably the most difficult thing in the game, but this game is not really about difficulty and really about the story and their journey together.

I would recommend this game to anyone who like to take their time to discover a beautiful journey.

“Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons” is an atmospheric adventure indie game done perfectly. The story is rich and includes a few puzzles too. The main idea of the story shortly - two boys who have already struggled with the loss of their mother, and are now faced with the reality of a sick and dying father, must save him by retrieving "The Water of Life". And so their journey begins.

The story is excellent, it immerses you into the world immediately. I've experienced a lot of different emotions - happiness, fear, wanderlust, compassion and grief. The game successfully tells a consistent, intelligible, fulfilling and mature story without the characters saying single word which you could understand because if I'm not mistaken it's in Finnish (which confused me at the beginning, to be honest), but it entirely relies on pure interactive game-play. That genuinely leaves a deep emotional impression on the player.

The world is elaborate, charming and spirited, and despite its story being only ~4 hours long, it takes you through a lot of various environments, every chapter feels fresh, captivating and interesting. There also can be found some mini side-quests that reward you with achievements and extra contents. It would be a sin if I don't mention the brilliance of the soundtracks - truly atmospheric and moving.

You control two individual characters at the same time (the brothers) to solve interesting, varied puzzles in order to progress through the level. Even if it's told that the game is supposed to be single-player, I think that it can be an amazing local co-op too. Playing by myself was unique expierience I have never had before because simultaneously controlling two characters can be quite challenging sometimes. There's a notice that game requires a controller to play - I played with keyboard (wasd, space bar, ctrl and arrows) and I hadn't any problems with that.

“Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons” is truly fascinating game. It had captured my heart. This is one journey you will never forget.
To be honest, the ending has broken my heart. But it was worth it and I'll definetly play this game again.

"One must be strong where the other is weak, brave where the other is fearful, they must be... Brothers."

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is a short (~2-3 hours) adventure game where two brothers are sent off in a world filled with gorgeous visuals, monsters, puzzles, and magical musical score. You control both players at the same time and there are numerous times the brothers will have to be used together in order to solve puzzles or just to traverse the terrain. I wish the game was longer because the graphics and music are stunning and really makes this epic fantasy world come alive. The story and environments are unique and this game is a must play!

Got this game gifted, didn't touch it for months, then decided to play it from the couch with a girl.
I wish I bought it myself, because its worth it.

The bonding with the characters is very well directed, and the story immersive and somewhat original.
The game is not very challenging, but in a nice way. It keeps giving you new things to look for, new game mechanics to use and all of that without making it repetitive.

The unique way to control the characters takes a tiny bit of getting used to, but feels amazing once you are.

If anyone would know games just like this, let me know!

An overall short game (around 2.5 hours just running through ignoring the scenery) but a beautiful one, that tells a sweet yet tragic story. Well worth taking your time playing to take in the brilliant visuals and to fully enjoy the journey as well as the excellent story that is subtly told.
