A gorgeous, deeply moving story set in a wonderfully rich fantasy world and very creative gameplay mechanics. This game is one of the best examples for video games telling a very touching story with many emotional grips and exciting twists and not sacrificing anything for accomplishing this goal.
I couldn't recommend it enough.

A wonderful and moving experience indeed. I loved every minute of it.

TL:DR; If you like interesting puzzles, pretty environments, and a story that'll keep you exploring, This game is a good pick!

I went in expecting just a neat little puzzle game, but got much more.
This game does a great job of coupling puzzle mechanics with a sence of adventure and story progession.
While the game may be short for some, I didn't feel that way for me. You do a lot of things and travel quite the distance on your journey.
The environment in this game has beauty and an interesting story to tell if you look for it.
Also the story <3 I love what they did with it. This is one of those games i'll remember for a long time. gg

Two brothers looking a cure for their father and this is when the adventure starts.

Kinda sort game but amazing. You can co-op the story with a friend since you can play with both brothers and these days you can pick up the game with less than 4euros, so its worth it.

Great story, unique gameplay, great music and much feels. Im more than ok with the graphics, the game looks awesome. 10/10

Brothers is a little light on puzzle, but I thoroughly enjoyed it for it's atmosphere, and the scenery is obviously lovingly crafted. Stupendous set pieces and a the feel of a fleshed-out world.

Just finished it, and I have to say that was pretty damn good. Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons runs just shy of the 3 hour mark, so if you care about that kind of thing, then this might not be the game for you. But what Brothers lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for with charm and emotional oomph. Without spoiling anything, Brothers is truly a one of a kind experience that's well worth your time.

This is what a lot of game aspire to be in the sense that they give you so much without any dialogue. Granted I didn't enjoy trying to guess what each character was trying to say given the fact that myself I enjoy very story driven games, but this scratched my itch another way which was giving dialogue through characters guestures and expression. Another great part of this game and also a main part is the way you play this game. Using both sides of the controller to control both characters simultaneously was great fun and difficult at the same time. There were moments were my brain just couldn't process where the characters where and what buttons controlled what characters. One down side for the game for myself was that the game was just too short just under 3 hrs of play time was a little disappointing, but on the other hand the game said what it had to say and left it at that which was honerable considering some games just drag on for too long and ruin some great experiences. Another point I was not ready for how dark some parts of this game could be, and I thought this was gonna be a disney movie like experience boy was I wrong and I'm glad I'm wrong because it gave the game another dimension to play with. Solid 9/10 Unique play style, great level design, and Good story considering no words are spoken throughout the whole game.

This game took me completely by surprise.

Which is really surprising because, after the first few minutes, it was nearly a disappointment: graphics fine but not sophisticated, a touching story which did not seem very promising and characters too simple. And then I let it drop in a corner of my library and forgot about it until I decided to get back on it more than a year afterwards, mainly because the achievements were easy to get.
And finally, this game astonished me and was clearly much better than I expected it to be.

I was totally absorbed by the unique atmosphere that characterizes it. I’m not surprised it has the tag "Atmospheric". With the atmosphere somewhat childish of the beginning, I was not expecting to discover a universe both gloomy, melancholic and yet very colorful afterwards. This conjunction of the theme of death on a bright picture painted with softened features worthy of a children's story is quite striking and almost unsettling. And let’s not forget about the history of these very young characters which ends up tearing your guts out.
The harmony that unites the two brothers is at the heart of this adventure which has a rather special gameplay where the two characters must be controlled at the same time to progress. I play with the keyboard and it took me some time to get used to it especially as one of the two protagonists requires a qwerty keyboard but I just had to manually switch it to azerty with Shift + Alt, and you get the hang of it really easily.

Clearly, I was blown away and I highly recommend this little gem.

One of the most touching games out there.

One of the most beautiful, touching and relaxing video games out there.Brothers-A Tale of Two Sons is a co-op adventure game wich is played by a single person, simultaneously controlling the two characters. The game itself is not very long, but it's totally worth it.

Here are the things I liked the most about the game.

  • The visual style is very appealing and colourful.

  • Great soundtrack and little bit of humor.

  • A story that is not complicated at all,but will leave you sad for eternity. :D

  • The two characters have different skills wich you often have to combine to traverse trough the level.

  • Puzzles wich are hardly challengeing, but fun to solve

  • Five or six environments through wich you travel, all very different than the previous one.

  • Although the controls are not very bad on keyboard I strongly recommend playing with a controller, your expirience will be much better.

These are the things I liked the most. The game is fantastic and although small,I'll always remember it as one of the best games I've played.

This is a really short and sad game, with a good story, different gameplay (you control two characters, the brothers, at the same time, yes SAME time), beautiful visuals, etc.
Maybe it's a little too expensive for such a short game, but if you buy it in a sale, it's worth it. At the beginning it's a little hard to control two characters at the same time, but you'll learn that fast, I promise. Emotional people, maybe you can save your tears to the end...

Though there is no clear language spoken in this game, its pretty much understood that two brothers are set out on a journey to find some miracle cure for their father. What makes this game unique is you must control both brothers at the same time, which with the keyboard is especially challenging. Beautiful scenery and a simplified story line make this game worthy.

Aside from the challenging game play with the keyboard, which I'm told having a controller is much easier, the gameplay is interesting and amazing. There's not any real fighting per se, but some simple puzzles you must solve to continue on. Took me about 3 hours to complete it but still well worth the money.

stupid ninja onions made my face wet near the end.

An absolute masterpiece that, in the beginning, can be questionably dull- Awkward mechanics can drive some away, but put a little time into it and the result is an emotional piece of art. 10/10, Everybody should play this.

-Quick Review-
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is an story-based adventure game, developed by Starbreeze Studios and released in 2013. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a game where you play as two sons who are sent to retrieve a cure for their very ill father. ...And that's the "elevator speech" version of it, read on for mechanics and my experience playing the game with a keyboard and mouse (It's definitely better with a controller, but doable with a keyboard).

-Detailed breakdown review-
Story: I don't dare go into greater detail for the story of this game. You control both brothers throughout the game to get past obstacles. The character express themselves with physical gestures, and the tone of their voices, but they speak in a fictional language (don't worry, your language settings aren't set up incorrectly, like I first thought when I started playing). The game starts up very light heartedly, and then progressively grows more grim as you journey across the fairy tail land.

Gameplay: So as I said in my introduction, I played through this game completely with a keyboard and mouse... and my short summary is this: Don't. If there is ANY way for you to play this with a controller of any type, you should do that. Heck, maybe you can plug in a Joystick if you still have one of those laying around (side note: no idea if that would actually work, don't yell at me if it doesn't, it was a joke).
The game controls very well, but ONLY if you're controlling one brother at a time. My keyboard starts to hang up if I try to move both. But I'm getting ahead of myself! You control the younger brother with the arrow keys and the CTRL key, While the older brother is controlled with my old friend WASD and Space Bar.

For the first few levels of the game I realized my coordination wasn't nearly as good as it should have been, I kinda felt like I was playing a two player game by myself! (I get lonely, don't judge me) Then I came across a problem when I was trying to use the brothers to rotate an object, I had to press two keys with the older brother: WD, and hold the space bar. And hit two keys with the younger brother: Up Arrow, right Arrow... AND hold the CTRL key! Let me repeat that: holding SPACE, and CTRL, and pressing and two letter keys and two arrow keys.

Now some of you out there already know what went wrong, but I went blissfully through my life not knowing I ever needed to press more keys at once then to write face rolling text: awkernhflkajnfaadf. The problem? "N-Key Rollover count" (some people also refer to as "ghosting"). I can only hit so many keys on my cheap plastic input device, before my keyboard is like "nah, that's enough, don't be greedy".

Some people with mechanical keyboards with anti-ghosting or high N-Key Rollover won't notice anything, and then your only problem will be if your brain can process what you're trying to do. (again, I assume the controls feel much better with a controller even then). If you want to know if your computer will have problems with N-Key Roll over or ghosting, Microsoft has this nifty little website you can test it on:

Okay, as far as the puzzles themselves go... They're not particularly tricky, I did over think a few of them, but that's my own fault. btw, don't stack 5 sheep and the eldest brother on the bridge, because that's not how the puzzle works. You'll just see a bunch of flying sheep because that draw bridge is the strongest thing since Samson! As a whole the game mechanics aren't revolutionary, sometimes challenging, but they're introduced quite well and are quite appropriate for the story, and they feel very good and you learn how to use both hands in a very different way from most puzzle games.

Conclusion: If you're reached it this far, you're probably either angry that I haven't really praised Brothers: A Tale of Two sons very much in this review, or you're thinking "okay, so a game with a strong story, semi-challenging controls... What is the big deal about this game, and why do people seem to love it so much?" Simple answer: This game is an experience.
I feel like I should slap myself for a cheap cop out, but that's the best answer I think I can give. Coming into this game I had heard some very high praise for the game, many people heralding it as one of the best games of 2013, many also saying it's their favorite game.

I had high expectations, but I wasn't quite sure what to expect... I didn't expect to laugh, and then feel chilling fear, then dread, then to burst into tears, regain composure, then to weep. Damn it my eyes are watering just writing this much. Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is a fantastic game and I highly recommend to anyone.
It connects and hits strongest to people who have brothers and sisters. At a certain age it becomes even more effective... Being the eldest. I have two younger brothers, and I empathized most with the older brother, but I think it doesn't make much difference which age in your family you are, regardless of whom you identify with, the story will move you, and I've said enough.
As always, thank you for reading.
