Mount and Blade is a wonderful game, however there is no point in purchasing this game - not long after this original release, Mount and Blade: Warband came out. It's largely the same game, using the same map and same general mechanics, but with the inclusion of multiplayer and achievements, as well as some general questline/mechanic improvements - it's basically the same game, but more. There's effectively no advantages this original game has over Warband, so it's not really worth purchasing. The one exception to this rule is that there were some mods created for it which did not get ported to Warband, so take a look at those via a Google search to see if one of them might be up your alley.

If you're trying to complete your library or support the developer/publisher? By all means. But if you're looking for the game to purchase, pick up Mount and Blade: Warband, instead.

Do you feel like a future in human trafficking? How about chopping pirates into bite-sized pieces? Always wondered what shoving a pike up somebody's bazingahole would be like? Feel like proving your love to someone by killing some poor innocent sap? Ever wondered what kind of crunch a person makes when they get run over by a horse? If you answered yes to any of the above, Mount & Blade is for you.

There is literally nothing you can't do in this game, and if it's not already there, you can just mod it in. The community is massive and friendly, and there's always new lands to explore courtesy of an endless number of free and paid-for addons. I cannot recommend this game enough. Quit reading this bloody review and go buy it already!

The game looks pretty dated but its really fun to play. You start off with nothing and try to build up an army, while leveling your character and your companions. Not as good as Warband, but still a great time.

Where to start with this game? Let's just say, Mount and Blade has given me many hours of a great game and tough battles. This game is what every Strategy/RPG hybrid should look up to. Mount and Blade has a lot of replayability, as akin to its descendant Mount and Blade Warband. The gameplay is great, fun and rewarding. Altough the actual combat is rather clunky in terms of animations, the game is very well developed. All the Mount and Blade series needs now is a game that has a multiplayer/co-op overhead map gamemode (Mount and Blade Bannerlord, I'm looking at you.). Mount and Blade is a really good game, I would recommend it to anyone who is skepictal about genre hybrids. 8/10
