Yup that's right! TJD2 finally got a release date!

We now begin taking pre-orders for TJD2 at http://www.thejourneydown.com/.

You get TJD1 + TJD2 for $5.99 (regular price: $6.99 + $8.99 = $15.98). Half of all pre-order revenues go to the Mavuno girl's school project. I worked with these guys in Tanzania in 2008 and they're doing a really great job there!

Already have TJD1? Then you're a pretty awesome person because you've already supported the development of TJD! It also means you can give away your extra TJD1 Steam key to a friend and save a buck on the next birthday present :)

This was a nice game to play, some really good humour and an interesting storyline - The art style and such are reminiscent of Grim Fandango but with a different cultural background. The voice acting is fairly good, although its thrown off a bit by the poor lip synching.

Pros:
Good humour reminiscent of Lucasarts adventure games
Interesting characters and art style
Gorgeous and atmospheric scenery
Fairly intriguing story line - looking forward to part two
Fantastic soundtrack

Cons:
Puzzles are very easy for experienced point n clickers
Incredibly short for the cost - short even for an episode
Some half-baked animation work

The Journey Down is another adventure game. While there are plenty of these floating around now, and I doubt this one is anywhere close to the top(Deponia probably sits comfortably on that throne), that doesn't mean this one is bad, or not worth playing. I found it to be very amusing, well written, well voiced, and having awkward enough puzzle solutions to be worthy of its genre title. Its only real detriment is itself, and by that I mean it's too short. You won't solve very many puzzles in this game only to be surprised that it's over without much having happened in the plot. This game is only the first in a series of planned episodes, as implied by the title, but I still find myself wishing more happened in this one. I don't know the details behind its development and am not curious enough to dig them out, but I assume the creators did what they could. That said, you should enjoy what you have, support the on going development, and look forward to future episodes.

I recommend this game, and will be looking forward to the rest of it. The wacky adventures of "Bwana" must go on.

Background art and music are great.
Animation and charactere modelisation are horrible. (Charactere are "masks" so it's very hard to create facial expression)
Voice is okay. Need more inventory item and harder puzzle.
Sorry dev, truth hurt.

6/10 .. Meh

Small, indie point-and-click game. I'm a huge fan of adventure games and just had to try it.
Like all other adventure games, it's too short. But this is shorter than most.
It just doesn't feel quite finished yet. Not just due to the "Chapter One" status, but many of the events and even main characters are presented without any sort of backstory or explanation.
The team obviously spent a lot of time on doing animations and the graphical art is great. The dialogue is humorous and who doesn't like a noir setting?
If they patch up some of the plotholes in time for a release of Chapter Two, this could become a great game.
