Build 1500

Hey everyone!

1500 days since we started KAG, who knew? A medium-size patch today, more mechanisms/TDM stuff but we're sorry to say that building them is gonna have to wait until next time. There's lots of fixes and tweaks inbound and a couple of things for modders to watch out for, so let's get cracking!

Lots more dastardly contraptions await!

More TDM maps!

There are quite a few more maps in the TDM pool, often utilising the new mechanisms stuff. If you haven't already, give TDM another go, it's quite a fresh mode now and the mechanisms help avoid maps becoming samey too fast.

New TDM Scoreboard!

There's a new TDM Scoreboard as an example of the new scoreboard override functionality! Let us know if there's any issues with it and see the script TDM_Interface for a code example - be sure to set showscoreboard to false in the corresponding gamemode.cfg if you do anything with it!

Various Mechanisms Bugs Fixed

A few of the new maps and some of the old ones brought out bugs in the mechanisms we hadn't seen before, these have been fixed this time around. Keep the reports coming if you see anything fishy!

Boulders Fixed

Boulders have had this a long time coming and you know it. Boulder-fu is still possible, but significantly less insta-kill. They also bounce off a bit which makes it much harder to chain, and a lot funnier to look at.

Slash Cancelling Bug Fixed

Only a few people knew about this, thankfully, but it's been removed. It won't be re-added if we can help it.

Buttons Fixed!

A long standing issue with the activate buttons has been found and fixed, which was a combined effort between myself and Skinney; they are now activated based on world distance and blob position, not screen distance, which means that zooming in and out isn't necessary for very small buttons to work any more!
A heads up to modders: this will break the positioning of anything that uses the activate buttons! Please revisit your mods and adjust the offset vectors, they're now in world space.

There are quite a few other minor bugs fixed as well, check the full changelog for those.

Have Fun!

Max/Geti

Trench Run Demo Released and Pending Changes for KAG

Good news everyone!

The Trench Run Skirmish Demo is now available at:

The demo is available for Windows, Mac and Linux!

Trench Run development benefits KAG players as both games are built on the same engine, so improvements and features from one can easily be taken into the other. This also means that the work gone into the online multiplayer aspects of KAG can be reused for multiplayer for Trench Run to get that up and running soon.

Trench Run is a different pace of game to KAG, faster and less serious, and focused more on smaller, deeper games than big balls of chaos, but the overall style and open development attitude will carry across between them. We look forward to your support on this exciting new game.

Make sure to like Trench Run on Facebook to stay updated:

Up next for KAG is the initial introduction of mechanisms for TDM maps and sandbox, more bugfixes, some map fixes/tweaks as well, and sooner or later the introduction of new menus. Mechanisms in particular allow the creation of completely new structure behaviours from (relatively) simple building blocks, something that will help more creative members of the community explore new possibilities without touching any code. You can rest assured KAG will not be dropped too soon.

Have Fun!

The negative:

The community can be unpleasant, but is generally forgiving and open to new players. There is a pretty steep learning curve, and the lack of a decent tutorial makes this worse. Balance and maps have improved, but I still find long, 3-4 hour stalemates fairly common in large matches.

The positive:

King Arthur's Gold is a truly unique experience. There's something for everyone in this game, whether you enjoy building massive fortresses, killing hordes of enemies, or role playing on a giant map with different races and factions. There is a decent competitive scene if you're into that sort of thing. Matches are usually full of people with mixed experience, so newer and more casual players can enjoy themselves as well. KAG is one of the most unique, addictive, and challenging games that I have ever played, and is definitely worth checking out.

All things considered, King Arthur's Gold is probably the best ten dollars I've ever spent on Steam.

Launched myself off a catapult. Landed on a guy, killed him, then glided over a body of water on my shield, chopped a guy, jumped onto a wall, then exploded.
420/69 would explode again.

Pros:
Surprisingly good gameplay
Fight mechanics are smooth
Good pixel art
Realistic physics
Same style, but always interesting
Very little bugs
Creativity = A good player
Rock Paper Scissors fight style
Attention to detail
Heads

Cons:
Gets boring after a while
Combat seems repetative
Griefers ruin the game
Lag also ruins the game
Not oftenly updated

Conclusion:
KAG is more worth it than its price and you should get it of you have nothing to play or if you are an indie casual lover
Rating: 8.5/10

King Arthur's Gold is an intense, 2D indie game that every Terraria and Minecraft player should give a try. It's a compact game in which you have to construct War Machines and Buildings, and use those to wipe out the enemy team, in an awesome 2D randomly generated (If I am not mistaken) world. There is, of course, a tutorial and single player campaign mission(s) which can be played to become familiar with the game mechanics. I have to admit, I thought they were a bit tricky, especially on PVP. This game is a mix of my favorite things, epic, raw medieval battles and of course, bits! Bits everywhere! It's a hidden gem in the Steam Store, which I am glad I've found! I must say I had tons of fun playing it, and I think it's worth your time!

I give this game 9/10

It takes a while to get into, but this is one of the best games I have ever played. You have total freedom to build whatever you want, and there are multiple game modes (Although CTF is by far the best). The community is generally welcoming to new players, so don't be afraid to ask for help. You start with a couple of minutes to build up your castle, and then the game starts and everyone rushes to the center. You could build a tunnel to the other side, or a bridge, or try to rush them head on! Every match is different, and each server has different rules and maps. I had this game before it was on steam, and my hours are in the hundreds. The meta game constantly changes, as does the game. Sadly, the player base is only about 100 now, but there is never a problem finding a match, there are at least two full games running all the time. If you join, you can fix that problem! There is even a roleplay server! If you are on the fence about this, buy it, you won't regret it :D And you will make this awesome community grow!

Id say, the chaos in this game is very entertaining.
The pixel graphics make it look EPIC.
Look at my hours, let them speak for me.

Only downfalls;
some glitches and bugs along the way.
pretty small community (But If you get it, you help the community grow :P)

I absolutly love this game, smooth gameplay thats constantly update, nice 8 bitt graphics with an awesome soundtrack to boot, only problem I can see in the game is there is just not enough people playing multiplayer, constantly bumping into the same people which isnt really an issue, but my advice is buy, buy, buy

Pro+
Smooth gameplay
Smooth learning curve
Hours of fun
Sick soundtrack

Cons-
Need larger online community

Definatly worth a buy, this game is great to play when your bored. you never know what'll happen each game and it can get really chaotic but that just adds to the fun! it might seem a little dificult at first, especially if your playing as the knight. but it will get easier to stay alive with practice.

I played over 400 hours of this game in total since it's earliest release. But I've got to say that the final product isn't nearly as addicting and fun as the alpha/beta builds.
Many things were changed for the worse and ruined during the development. Key being overcomplication of mechanics and ruined fluidness of character movement and combat.
I would definitely recommend you the classic version of this game, but not this final build that's on Steam.

This game used to be one of the best I'd ever played. HOWEVER I will say that some mechanic changes and shifts among the community have caused me to stop playing altogether. Sometimes i will launch this game, muck around for 10 mins then remember why i stopped playing.

That said, this is a very, very good game. The combat will drive you insane at first and the learning curve causes a lot of new players to give up, but get through it you will experience a time of pure bliss within the game. Stick with it and you will have a great time.

This game was WAY worth a buy! I've put hours and hours of time into this wonderful game. All the fighting and explosions are really cool! Even though im not a huge fan of pixel games this game has made me one! The animations are smooth and nice with the pixel graphics. This game is a little hard at first so ask questions to other players about how this game is supposed to be played. This was my first review and i hope it helped infuence your desicion. thank you for reading this and have fun in the world of KAG!!

After my 384 hours I decided that it is probably a good idea to write a review, so where should I begin.

This game is amazing, it looks like Terraria but for ♥♥♥♥s sakes it is NOTHING like Terraria, ever wanted to be an medieval archer sniping on top of a tower picking off those petty nubs?? You know what makes it better? Someone built that tower! As a builder you build traps, towers, workshops, trampoline cannons???,swastikas, boats, catapaults, balistas, boulder artillery and the list goes on and on and on. As a knight your pull your sword and slice down your enemys, bomb jump over their walls, drop a keg on there asses, knock their tower that took them ages to make down, steal there flag and take it back to your base and win the game. Oh! and the modding community is huge so theres even more crazy ♥♥♥♥ to screw around with.

This game is a must have. Get it.

King Arthur's Gold. This game has quickly become one of my favorite games. The best way I can describe this game is Terraria with objectives. Honestly one of the greatest time killers I know of outside of massive amounts of heroin.

This is a game where you say "why did i buy this" but then once you actually play it you be like "man this is pretty darn fantastic broham" it lacks community, but has great gameplay and countless hours of fun and junk like that.
