MapleStory's Newest Superstar - Pink Bean!

Come meet MapleStory’s newest superstar—Pink Bean! For a limited time, you can create a special event character and play as MapleStory’s first Monster Job! In addition to enjoying the revamped party quests, end-of-summer events and the return of Murgoth Dungeon, players can now experience the improved Tower of Oz dungeon which has been specifically updated for high-level characters!

For a limited time, create a character with the very first Monster Job available in MapleStory—Pink Bean! Tricked into coming to Henesys by his rival, Black Bean, Pink Bean will be available for character creation from August 19 to October 6. Pink Bean uses Strength, and equips Warrior gear. Everyone will receive one character slot in order to create a Pink Bean character. Pink Bean is an event character, meaning that there are limitations to what the class can do. At the end of the event, the Pink Bean character will be removed. To keep fond memories of your time as Pink Bean, players will receive rewards to use on other characters after the event.

Tower of Oz is receiving some new updates to improve the experience of this dungeon for high-level players. It will now target Lv. 140 players and above. Some of the stages will be reordered and have their requirements fine-tuned. Additionally, Stupid Pills will last longer! A weekly ranking will also be added, along with new rewards. The Ring Box reward list will also be overhauled to remove some of the lower consumable items. Now you’ll have a better chance at great rewards!

Chryse is returning after a long closure and has been made into a party quest. Up to four players Lv. 75 to 120 can enter as a group. Many other party quests are receiving updates to their rewards, so that you can get better items even quicker. The daily limit for some party quests will be reduced from 10 entries a day to 5, but each run will be more lucrative! Some of the EXP has been increased, and some of the reward requirements have changed. Resurrection of Hoblin King and Kenta in Danger party quests have been redone with new missions and rewards!

Murgoth Dungeon is making a return! Players Lv. 75 and above can enter up to ten times a day as parties of either 1v1 or 2v2. Once inside, clear rooms of monsters and see which team can find three Soul Shards first! But beware; Murgoth Dungeon is full of monsters which represent the five main jobs of MapleStory. How much damage you inflict will depend on your class! Earn points to exchange for rings, masks and more.

How time flies! Place Time Capsules on maps, go hunt monsters around your character level, and your Time Capsule will open to give you a sweet reward. Then help Cassandra pick lemons for her lemonade stand to earn mesos and a store permit! And enjoy the last of the summer with a camping trip. Can you keep away the hungry animals that want to take your food? Earn restorative items, chairs, and medals!

Experience the full blast of the FIREPOWER Update!

Experience the full blast of summer with the FIREPOWER update: Become an Icy Agent or a Hot Agent and team up to receive maximum rewards! Get ready to rock with the sixth chapter of FriendStory. Explore two new regions-the mysterious Blackgate City and the Scrapyard, location of the crashed Black Heaven. Check out two new mini-games in Star Planet, and see what you create in Beefy's Kitchen. All this and the Beast Tamer is back and available for character creation for a limited time!

FIREPOWER: Hot and Icy
Become a Hot Agent or an Icy Agent based on your login activity level, and participate in tons of summer events! Each agent type receives special items, and they can team up to help each other out. Hot Agents can give Icy Agents special stat buffs, and Hot Agents receive a prize box in return. For an extra bonus, choose someone on your friends list (remember to choose carefully!) to be your Best Friend for this event and you'll both get 20 FIREPOWER Coins and receive a special effect when playing next to each other on the same map. When Icy Agents reach certain level-up goals, they'll receive a Growth Potion-and one for their Best Friend too. Parties that include an Icy Agent will also get bonus EXP.

Select one of your characters under Lv. 100 to be a Burning character, and every time they level up, they will gain two additional levels as well (up to Lv. 100)! Earn FIREPOWER Coins through various events and monster drops to spend in the Coin Shop. The FIREPOWER Coin Shop has stocked a variety of chairs, mounts, scrolls and more. Break the giant ice block that appears in certain towns to earn restorative items, chairs and other great rewards. You also can participate in attendance and guild events!

FriendStory: Rock & Roll
The sixth chapter of FriendStory will rock your socks off! A new student comes to Shinsoo International School carrying a Rock Virus that infects the student body, making them play air guitar and act like rock stars. Join Irena's band to help them fight back with the power of music! A new mini game lets you show off your musical skills as you play guitar in the band. Once you've completed Chapter 6, you also have the option to play through the story a second time for special rewards and to see different endings.

New Region: Blackgate City
A portal to another dimension has opened, and strange demons are spilling out into Blackgate City! Players Lv. 100 to Lv. 150 can travel to this new area through the Dimensional Mirror. Help set up a defensive line and fight back against the invasion alongside the Night Angels and Demon Knights. Explore this dangerous area where five fierce new bosses will randomly spawn, and earn new Blackgate equipment!

New Region: Scrapyard
The giant airship, Black Heaven, crashed into the ground near Edelstein at the conclusion of the epic Black Heaven saga. Now players Lv. 190 and above can explore this new area. Visit the town of Haven and help the robots there with Daily Quests to earn new Energy Cores. Normal mode for Lotus is also available here, and beating him will give you more Energy Cores. Exchange your Energy Cores for AbsoLab Coins in Haven, and then spend the coins in the AbsoLab Coin Shop in order to acquire Lv. 160 Absolute Lab Set equips.

New Star Planet Games
Star Planet is receiving two new mini-games: The Legends Return!, and Supernatural Yut. In The Legends Return!, players compete 3 on 3 in a PvP style brawl. Each player selects an avatar and receives five skills they can use. Avatars can grow and level up by defeating monsters or opposing players. Whoever receives the most points at the end of the battle wins. In Supernatural Yut, players receive a Yut Power (affecting them) and a Piece Power (which can affect the opposing player). Use the special powers before you toss the yut to add an extra element to the game.

Beast Tamer is Back
You asked, and we listened. We are pleased to announce that the new and improved Beast Tamer job will once again be available for character creation for a limited time! From skills to quests, Chase is ready to show off her updates and improvements. So get ready to experience the Beast Tamer before time runs out and see why she's back and better than ever.

Enter Beefy's Kitchen
Guess who's looking for an extra hand in the kitchen! Beefy the Grill Master wants to go have adventures, so he needs someone to help out in his culinary dojo! Players Lv. 33 and above can enter Beefy's Kitchen at the Nautilus and help him complete missions such as hunting monsters and completing party quests to raise the level of the kitchen. As it improves, you'll unlock the ability to cook up powerful potions, Cash Shop items and more. Make Beefy's Kitchen shine and earn rewards such as a medal and new chef-themed equips!

The tears that come out of one eye are from nostalgia, the tears that come from the other eye are from how bad the game is.

I have been playing this game since it's second year anniversary. I have been on and off, coming back only due to the friends I have made in the game and hopes of a changed, better game. However, everytime I come back, I recieve the same slap in the face from Nexon America, showing how they have butchered my once favourite game. Somewhere between the evident pay2win aura, weak servers, and the horridly unresponsive customer service, I've found my reason to quit.

I've played this game since I was 10 years old when it came out in america.

The best way to describe maplestory is a deep, deep hole out in the woods.
When you are bored and looking for something to do you fall into this hole.
At first you are scared, you panic and try to get out of the hole.
But slowly, you begin you like it in the hole.
You spend thousands of dollars on making this hole cooler, nicer, and do more dps.
You meet friends, lovers, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥s inside of this hole, it begins to feel like a community.
Then high school girl drama will go down, and you will sell all your gear and quit.
You will struggle to climb out of this hole. And finally....you're out.

You go back to the way your life was before, and you become happy again.

After a couple of months...you feel this craving...this...hunger...
You miss the hole. Sure, the hole has its ups and downs...but you...you were safe in the hole...you were...home...
So you go back, and thus begins the never ending downward spiral of your life.

10/10 would quit and play again.

This is a game that SHOULD be fun. It really SHOULD be. It has everything it needs:
Awesome music, amazing graphics (You get used to the character sprites.) and lots of things to do, tons of classes that function very differently the farther you go along, but eases you into them at first.

So why am I not suggesting this game?

Nexon isn't the 'best' company when it comes down to it.

They have a Cash Shop. You want a pet? Cash shop. You want nice looking armor to RENT to display over your current armor? Cash shop. Teleport wherever you want? Cash shop. EXP boost? Cash shop.
Literally anything and everything is a Cash Shop. Yes it's not the only MMO to have it, but it clearly abuses it so much and was (Likely) one of the first MMOs to truly abuse the heck out of the system. Don't worry if you forget about it, you'll get reminded with drops, quests, and so on that there is a way to buy your way out of everything.

The community itself? If you've played an MMO, you know what to expect. Generally this consists of people who speak nothing to you most of the time- except in a market, in which case you get spammed with lots of things you won't know what they mean.

The best way to compare the free market on channel one is like watching ants swarm a meal. It's fascinating and disgusting at the same time...and by the way, you're the meal.

You can use the forums to get in guilds which aren't bad, but even then most of the lingo is confusing- half because MS has a text limit shorter than a Twitter message, half because they have a filter that is so picky that I could never state my friend 'is' something because it gets filtered out, even if I wanted to say 'is great'

Another dislike about the game is the AI. 90% of the enemies you encounter outside of dungeons (At least up to lvl 120) use the same pattern of "I'm gonna run into you and damage you that way!" which, yeah there's hundreds of enemies, but it's all just nothing short of a pallete swap if they all get the same functionality.

In the end, Maplestory has a lot of ingredients to be a great game, but too many spices put into the soup end up making a good soup turn rotten (But still look pretty). And that's the best way to describe it.
