About This Game

Overhaul Games brings MDK2 back to the PC in incredible high definition, with enhanced graphics, sound, and gameplay. See the classic action platformer the way it was meant to be seen, heard, and played... on a PC!

Kurt Hectic in his snazzy suit with ribbon chute is back to save the universe. This time he is teamed with the genius Dr. Hawkins and the 6-legged gun-toting robotic dog, Max. Together they must out-sneak, out-blast and out-think their enemies as they attempt to reclaim the Earth from a vile alien menace.

And this time they're in HD.

All three characters - Kurt, Doctor Hawkins and Max are playable, each has his own levels, powers and items and a completely different gameplay focus. Kurt is about stealth and sniping, the Doctor has a few direct attacks but also has the ability to create items and effects out of simple household objects, while Max is a cigar smoking, quad gun toting demolition squad of a dog.

awesome game although this HD version of the game does have bugs infact when i first got this it wouldnt even work there was no menu cursor or text but luckily i managed to fix it very easily infact. I dont know if id say get this one if you want the game and you've already played the original mdk games you really arent missing out on anything, atleast in terms of story and gameplay, however the graphics are a big step up from the regular MDK 2 which is why i prefer this one alot more. However like many others have said this game has issues and it wont work for most people without some kind of file addition or patch although if your lucky like me and you get the game to work you will like it the game's got a good story and 3 likeable characters to play as so yea i like it awesome game :) (if you can get it to work that is)

i dont want to rate this game down because i really like MDK and again like i said the graphics in this are very good plus for me i havnt encountered any other issues in this apart from the menu bug which was very easy to fix but i dont recommend buying this one get the original ones first if you have them i wouldnt bother with this unless your a complete fan of the game then wait till this version goes on special offer but be careful when you buy it and prepare to be disapointed incase it doesnt work first time around without atleast applying some kind of fix shown in the forums this one has got too many problems for most people and i think im just one of the lucky few who got it to work. If it helps anyone im using an AMD radeon graphics card.

Buggy, abandoned by dev, avoid at all costs, especially if you have the sheer audacity to have an AMD card.

Shouldn't have bought it.

Heyyo, It's a game where you save Edmonton, Alberta, Canada from aliens... that alone makes it worth checking out lol. Otherwise? The characters are great, the voice acting is good and the gameplay is lots of fun. This HD edition is just higher quality textures, it's not "High Definition" as the rework name would indicate... but it's still worth the money. :)

When I first saw this appear in the Steam Store, I thought to myself I swear Iv played similar game like that were the guys suit turns in to some wierd looking Parchute/wingsuit but didn't know were becuse it's a very sort old-school PC game with weird characters n janitor hero and I have only owned a gaming PC for few years and as kid only friend who I knew had PC which could run anything faster than Championship Manger was geeky lad from down my street & only games he would show me were DOOM & GTA but just started playing & was doing my nut because knew I had played before, I asked my best friend (google) >> like always came up with good enough answwer for me >>> PLAYSTATION >>>
Im not sure if got in the Humble Bundle but this game is going to be class, yes with my total of 20 or even less minutes of play, I have came to that decision & could actually see my self finishing this game >> big thing for me, I like bits out of all games but few really grab me and make me want to keep going back . >>>> I definitely Recommend any person born 80s >> to maybe mid-90s to get this game >>

a fun game that might be worth your while if your a fan.
but the HD port has frame rate problems, VERY glitchy, and some parts (like mini-games) are SD
plus parts of the game can be very very irritating (and very hard).
and ATI users might have to check the forums on how to get the game too work

Buy with CAUTION!!!!

Great game! If you decide to play it, make sure to save often enough manually because it sometimes it auto saves just as you are falling into a pit...

MDK2 was an odd but awesome game when I first played it. The three different playable characters behaved completely differently, and had completely different playstyles for their respective levels.

The game looked great for its time, and much of that has translated well into this HD remake. The textures have been revamped, the models improved, and the audio is less tinny than it used to be.

It plays and runs great, and the core of the gameplay remains untouched if you don't choose the new easy/extra hard difficulties.

A game with great humor and just a pervasive oddness throughout.

Back in the days of the Pentium and the PS1 there was a little company known as Shiny Entertainment. In addition to a bunch of well-animated games by a less than scrupulous fellow, they made a rather surreal third-person shooter called MDK. Starring a janitor named Kurt Hectic and his parachute-equipped Coilsuit, it went on to become a Cult Classic.

In 2000, a sequel came out for the PS2, Dreamcast and PC. This game, while written by a different team, still held up well in spite of feeling a bit different overall from the original. This change in writers came with a requisite change of tone - Whereas MDK1 was a very surreal game and derived much of it's humor from that, MDK2 loves it's refuge in audacity, and has a very action movie feel to it. For example, in few other games will you see a Robotic Dog with a Chain Smoking habit quad-wield miniguns? In spite of the different writing, MDK2 still was a good game simply by virtue of being fun as hell to play.

In 2011, Overhaul Games brought MDK2 up to speed. The new models and textures look very good and the game is solid as ever, and the System Requirements are modest as ever (Though you're still gonna need newer hardware to play the HD flavor). My only real gripe? Overhaul did not put much effort into making the game make bettr use of widescreen. Most UI elements (such as the zoom on Kurt's sniper rifle) are still in 4:3, causing a fair deal of letterboxing. This does not make the game any less playable, mind, but is more of a presentation nitpick than anything.

Re-armed and Reloaded in HD; MDK2 is nothing much more than a satyrical throwback to 90's action/platform games where a fast trigger finger and fancy footwork around the alarming number of enemies will see you scraping through each relentless fight at the will of a pumping techno soundtrack that makes you feel like an unstoppable superhero, from start to finish.

No Xbox controller support. Text is broken on ATI. Most parts are forced to 4:3. Less detailed than the original at some areas. Audio sounds worse and distorted. No Steamworks extras. Benchmark facility is missing. Detail options are missing. The lavatory mirrors STILL doesn't work!
