This game is fantastic. I've never played a racing game before and was worried I would be absolutely horrible (and I am) but it doesn't matter because it is so much fun! I can't imagine anyone that wouldn't absolutely love this game!

The first thing that made me think so much less of this game was the way turbo boosts get charged. In the last game, each racer, depending on their turbo stats, would charge turbo in a different span of time and recieve a different amount of speed for it. But even for the characters that take longer than the others to charge turbo, it charges within a decent margin.
For example, for the duration of a level 1 charge, you can drift to charge another turbo boost just before or just after the first level 1 turbo boost ends.
But in this ♥♥♥♥ing game, every character seems to take the same amount of time to charge a turbo boost, and they changed it so it takes so much ♥♥♥♥ing longer to charge it. it takes about 10 or so seconds to charge a level 3 boost, and it isnt as easy as it was in the previous game either. When you drift in a direction for a certain period of time in this game, your vehicle starts to cave in on the drift and turn itself into whatever direction you're drifting in, even if your pointing your control stick the opposite way so you can spread the drift wider to keep it going. So to keep your boost charge, before you hit a wall because the drifting in this game sucks, you have to let the drift go and immediatly drift in the opposite direction without banging into the road walls or obstacles, just to even attempt a lv 3 turbo charge. So with turbo being something harder to obtain, you have to rely more on weapons to ♥♥♥♥ up your opponents gain and the speed boosts on the course itself.

The great thing about games like Mario Kart 8 and the original all stars racing is that you can chain your turbos nicely if you know what you can get away with in a course. And it doesnt take much time to get to lv 3 charge. When you know how to string your turbos through multiple turns, you gain a huge advantage. Even if the AI Rubberband in the original All Stars Racing, you can keep a good 5-10 second lead. But with this game, you dont get that, its much more chaotic and random with opponents catching up to you and hitting you with homing weapons just so you lose your lead. Then you get to use your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ turbo to try to catch up while using either homing weapons or using well placed snowball or rocket skillshots to attempt to catch up.

And then there's the boat and air segments that suck and dont work, trying to make this into a overdone version of Diddy Kong Racing. The Boat segments make my controls seems sluggish like im playing a bad version of Wave Race. And Navigating the air leaves much to be desired. I much prefer the way mario kart 8 handles air segemts with a glider over a small span of the course. While some courses in ASRT have entire laps in the air, leaving you to essentially have dog fights in the air because using the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ drifting to catch up while in the air is just aweful. And I have never been a fan of Dog fighting games like War Thunder.

The things I can say that are actually good about the game are the amount of characters, the mods for them, and the way stunts work. The original game had a nice cast of characters (with a guest appearance from Banjo & Kazooie in the xbox version only unfortunatly). But this game has a lot of Guest characters for the pc version and in general. And while some of them are a bit weird like General Winter and Footbal Manager, I love the fact that Wreck-it Ralph and 3 members of TF2 are playable.
The maps are also visually appealing and the atmosphere of the courses are great. And while I miss challenge mode, world tour isnt that bad either.

Turbo in ASR Transformed is utter ♥♥♥♥ing garbage aswell as the boat and air segments. And while the maps and aesthetic of the game are better looking than the original ASR, the original ASR plays much better and you feel in control of what you're actually doing.
While this game has multiplayer and the original All stars doesnt, almost no one plays online so its not really worth it for that reason. Buy the original All Stars Racing for a better "Kart Racing" experience.

This game was made four years ago. FOUR YEARS?! WHAT?! This game is worth EVERY penny I spent on it, plus 20$ <3. I love this game so much. This thing blows mario cart or any other racing game in it's rank out of the water. Where have you been all my life sonic racing?

There are a lot of positive things to say about this kart racer, like great controls on the ground and plenty of fun, challenging game modes. However; there were quite a few things I didn't like. Here's a list of what I believe to be the Pros and Cons of this game.

-Exciting races. Most tracks force you to drive in two or all three of the available vehicle types: Karts, boats, and planes. In addition, most tracks are also differnt on each lap. For example: The first two laps on the Golden Axe stage are the same, save for a few obstacles placed on the track, but the third lap features a lot more flying and a lot less karting. There's also a lot of intersting stuff going on in the background of most stages.

-Good character selection. While I was dissapointed to learn Billy Hatcher didn't make it into this game, there are still plenty of characters to chose from. Each character has their own stats (Speed, Accel, Handling, Boost, All-Star), and they all also have "mods" that change those stats. You unlock mods by leveling up characters. For the most part, mods will allow you to play as your favorite character on any track. Need better handling? No need to swtich characters, just use a mod.

-Amazing modes. Kart racers are, obviously, best played with friends. While I can't attest to the quality of the online play in this game, there's more an enough single player content to keep one person entertained. Aside from perfecting each of the 10 Grand Prix cups, there are also 51 challenge stages. These stages can be anything from "race against the CPU" to "chase down and destroy a tank." My personal favorite are the boost challenges: It's essentially a time-attack challenge, but the timer stops if you're boosting off of a panel or from drift.

-Tricks. If your kart or boat is launched off the ground, you can tilt the right-stick to do flips and rolls. The more you do in the air, the better the boost you get when you finally touch the ground again. Fun, and the boost you get can make a serious difference in the outcome of the game.

-Some weird characters: While they do have some novel appeal, characters like Football Manager, General Winder, Wreck-It Ralph, and Danica Patrick get really old, really quick. Every time I start up a race, I hope they're not a part of it. They don't feel like they belong here at all. If you like them, more power to you, but I feel that they divert attention away from the other colorful racers in this game and only took up spots that could've been given to characters like Rouge, Vector, or Billy Hatcher.

-Not many memorable stages: Yeah, most stages are fun to race on, but they're not particularly memorable or interesting to look out. Notable exceptions are the Sonic and JSR levels, but others like the god-awful Billy Hatcher and Burning Rangers levels make me want to pull my hair out. Some of these turns are "impossible" to take at high-speeds. Even top-level CPUs will crash straight into the walls at the end of the Billy Hatcher stage. Not even they can make these turns reliably. Other stages like the NiGHTs and classic Samba de Amigo levels will put you to sleep.

-Boats: I hate the boats. There are some weird physics going on with these boats. Take a ramp at (what the game would arbitratily call) a strange angle and say goodbye to all your momentum. Enjoy floating in the air for a 10 seconds while all your opponents zip past you. Twice, I've also tapped the wall taking a sharp turn and have been put UNDERNEATH the water. What resulted was a bunch of flipping around in place and an end to my GP runs. Sometimes the boats work, sometimes the boats work you.

Despite the cons, the game as a whole is still a lot of fun. I'm not sure I would say it's better or worse than Mario Kart. It's a different experience, and certainly one worth having.

If you're looking for a PC Karting game in the same vein as Mario Kart, you've come to the right place.
Some are even arguing that it's better than Mario Kart... and I think I agree with them.

This game is very similar to Crash Team Racing and Muppet RaceMania from PlayStation (I only played those two). Concept is same - you race with other characters, using powerups to help you on the way. There's no pure racing, you have to learn to drift properly and do stunts while in air to earn short speed boosts and also trying to sabotage other players, which is not always easy to do but can help greatly in determining the winner. There're plenty of tracks and several racing mods so it's hard to get boring.

Although you can finish this game in any difficulty you want, playing on highest difficulty is a real treat. There's pure adrenaline rush, trying to finish first without making errors (especially in "beat the ghost" mod). Multiplayer is still active (as of this date), you won't have problems finding others to play with. Some achievements are really hard to get so this is not easy 100%.

Overall, great racing experience, great game, you won't be disappointed.

What a great little karting game this is. It offers challenge and depth while still maintaining pickup and play casual fun. It has decent variety with its generously sized character roster each with their own stats and play styles as well as land, sea and air racing to keep things interesting. Definitely recommend this game.

Well you cant have Mario Kart on PC (offically anyway), so this is the next best thing.

Smooth framerates , lots of characters to choose from.

Maps are all over the place, so pleny of vareity.

I think this is preoblalby the best kart racing game for the PC.

Sega did a great job!

This game makes you feel badass, and skill is involved in driving.

Heck, even a noob who's so terrible at racing games could still have the time of his/her life on this game.

You heard it all, from Dr.Eggman.

It's like Mario Kart for PC on steriods. The tracks are all lively and energetic, with amazing music backing it up, it feels like every track is one of those rides at Universal Studios where you go into the movie and see the characters. The huge but somewhat random character selection is nice, too. Difficulty curve is mostly good, however for standard race the three star system doesn't make sense to only need 3rd against easy AI for 1 star, 3rd against medium for 2 stars, but 1st against hard for 3 stars? I stuggle to get that last one, however I usually get first when going for 2 stars, and am rewarded the same as if I got 3rd. Other than that, I think this is my favorite racing game. 9/10
(Currently using JoyToKey and Mayflash Adapter to use my GameCube controller with it, it works beautifully)
