The Ein Lacher Challenge Update

Battle bosses one-on-one in Ein Lacher, take part in a new Royal Army Raid with numerous improvements and battle your fellow mercenaries in the improved Siege PvP Match. Vindictus' latest update has arrived with plenty of toys and fun things to do for everyone, check out all of the details below!

Take the Ein Lacher Challenge
Ein Lacher is a new way to test your mastery of Vindictus. You'll have no party to carry you, no teammates to distract the enemy boss and no lesser foes to work your way through. Just you and one of the bosses of Vindictus, battling it out.

Each day, you'll have a choice of 10 Ein Lacher battles to complete, selectable from the Exploration Departure map. You have to go it alone, but you'll have a few advantages of your own. You'll be sent right to the boss, with no other foes standing in your way. If you do fall in combat, you can revive yourself for free and continue the fight.

You'll even get EXP, AP and Gold upon defeating your foe, albeit with an increasing penalty to your EXP, AP and Gold rewards after the 4th free revive. Evil Cores will also drop, however limited to the number of Evil Cores per day you can normally claim from those foes.

Defeating bosses in Ein Lacher will also reward you with up to 20 Honor Medals per day that can be exchanged for Emblems, AP and EXP potions and Seals of Bravery from the Royal Army Recruit in town, based on how commanding a performance you gave:
  • Bronze Medal: Defeat the boss while falling 3 times or less and earn an Honor Medal
  • Silver Medal: Defeat the boss without being incapacitated to earn two Honor Medals
  • Gold Medal: Defeat the boss without ever taking damage for three Honor Medals!
  • Each Medal is only awarded once for each challenge
There's even a special set of titles you can claim to show absolute proof of your abilities, for clearing the Ein Lacher battles with Bronze, Silver or Gold medals. Just don't expect these awards to come easy: The bosses of Vindictus are in no mood for games.

Improved Royal Army Raids
Group based battles aren't being left out, though. We've gone back to the Royal Army Raids and given them a series of enhancements to make them more engaging, better balanced and ultimately more fun. Two improvements are the most obvious: First, you will now be able to see the health bar for all bosses in Royal Army Raids. Second, all lower-level raid members will no longer be a handicap. All characters below level 90 will have their Health, Attack and Defense boosted to give them a fighting chance.

We've also added new rewards for completing the Royal Army Raids. Defeating the boss will reward you with one of three different Mysterious Glass Bottles. These bottles contain powerful rewards: 50 AP and a Seal of Bravery, top-tier crafting materials or even an orange-quality Weapon Essence that can be used to craft the most powerful weapons available!

Those aren't the only changes, however. In order to make it easier to find a party, only one Royal Army Raid will be available, changing each day. These raids will also start with a minimum of 10 players, at least four of whom are level 90, and up to 16 characters can take part. You also will no longer be able to use Ultimate attacks in Royal Army Raids. Oh, and there's one other little change...

The Peerless One is back for the Royal Army Raids! The Serpent King Lakoria has a powerful array of poisonous attacks, and a massive appetite. Whether swallowed whole, flung into the air to come crashing down or infected by a lethal toxin, you'll need your wits about you to stand a chance against this most massive of monsters.

Improved Siege Rewards
We've also boosted the rewards for each PvP Siege Match! With this update, everyone on the winning team will receive 12 Seals of Triumph, a 200 AP Capsule and 30,000 Gold each, while the losing team will earn 8 Seals of Triumph, a 100 AP Capsule and 20,000 Gold each.

In order to make Siege Matches more of an event, we've restricted their availability. As such, Siege matches will only occur every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday between 3:00 AM and 10:00 PM PDT (6:00 AM - 1:00 AM EDT, 8:00 PM - 3:00 PM AEST). The UI will let you know when a new match is available, so be ready to storm the castle!

Screenshot Mode

We've also added a special Screenshot mode to help you get images of your characters in the best light possible. You now have access to three independent cameras that can be positioned to follow your character around at a variety of angles and distances. While Screenshot Mode is active, every time you take a screenshot, an image will be taken from both your main camera angle and any active Screenshot Cameras.

Adjust a Screenshot Camera with the mouse: Left-Click to rotate the camera, Right-Click to strafe around with the camera and hold the Scroll Wheel to zoom in and out. These cameras will move and turn with your character, so get some great camera angles and show off your skills in style!

Mad Psycho and Manic Jester Sets

This month's update brings two new sets, the return of a classic Limited set, an array of hair, inner armor and tattoos, the triumphant return of the Premium Weapon Fusion Rune and more!

Check out the full details in the Mad Psycho and Manic Jester Sets post.

Exquisite Chest Events

It's been a year since our last Treasure Chest event, and even longer since the Fruit Fight event has been around. We're bringing both back around this month to give you a wealth of rewards no matter what you want to play. We're also easing you into the new normal for Royal Army Raids by giving you three Royal Army Raids each day for the next two weeks.

Check out the full details in the Exquisite Chest Events post.

I played it before and while it was fun it was pretty buggy so I didn't get too far into it. I had hoped there would be some steam launch of the game but it hands off to a Nexon launcher that wants to write to my system and I just know Nexon wishes it could be wanking off into my registry. Even letting the perv have it's way the launcher and the load went sooooo sloooowly that after a 45 minute download and install I ended up ditching it this go around before even getting to character creation. Changing options had me restart 3 different times as the settings wouldn't stick and after getting the settings good I finally decided: not worth it, if the loads like this the games gonna still be buggy. Benefit of the doubt though as maybe it was my system twice over but I'm really kinda leary of Nexon so I recommend it because it was fun to play what I played of it but, you know: caveat emptor. Cheers!

Fighting in Vindictus is fun, Leveling Up actually
accomplishes something ... knowing how to level up
makes a huge difference. Guilds & all ... not that
big of a deal ... almost everything is completely
solo'able without issue.

-Before I say anything, I highly recommmend installing the Nexon launcher to play ANY Nexon game rather than through Steam. I notice many people unfairly batting Vindictus as well as other Nexon games on Steam like Maplestory simply because they cannot launch and play them due to authentication problems.-

While the MMO action rpg genre has seen more competition in the past years, with games like TERA, BnS, and the upcoming Black Desert, Vindictus was a show stopper at its time of release, and still holds up just fine today. From its stunning graphics, easy-to-learn/hard-to-master gameplay, wide cast of characters, dedicated (though small) community, customizable hud, and soundtrack.

Unlike other games from this genre, Vindictus does not burden your keyboard and screen with endless amounts of skills, items and abilities. While there is still a hotbar for items and some skills, the combat in this game is highly combo-based, using both left and right mouse clicks to utilize light and heavy attacks. Even magic-based characters, such as Evie, Arisha, or Sylas, are not held down from the traditional mage gameplay of smashing your face on your keyboard to spam abilities, and use this system. Despite the simplified combat, each character boasts unique mechanics, abilities, and personality (some more than others) that mingle with the usual combat system to magically create a different experience for each character. It may be simple, but it certainly isn't easy. Along with hacking and slashing your foes, you will be required to dodge/block and constantly dance around bosses to avoid attacks, because if you don't, it's gonna hurt. ALOT.

Vindictus, as its name hints, is pretty brutal. Just like in real life, enemies die in 1-3 hits. However, that also means you can die just as easily. Though not apparent early on, the difficulty of this game spikes HEAVILY, if you're not prepared. Vindictus's later bosses bring great urgency to your character, because soon as you start to slip, you can find yourself fighting for your life after taking 1-3 hits. Later bosses also bring unique mechanics to further keep you on your toes. Things do become easier with better gear, which is now relatively easy to attain yourself given the time and effort. Even though many people complain that this game is p2w, I wouldn't go as far to say that, despite there being microtransactions. Sure, the highest levels of enhants and enhancements require you to pay up some cash for risk blowing up your gear, but if you're lucky enough to strike gold with a rare drop or enough farming, you can earn enough gold to buy gear from someone else who's done the work of making gear for you! ^^ Personally, I only ever spent money for cosmetics and means to advertise merch to the server, but this can easily be done through the official forums, which is surprisingly active in the trading department.

I'm mixed about Vindictus's story. As some may know, this game is technically a prequel of Mabinogi. For the first arc, humans and fomors are at war and humans want to kill all fomors in order to reach paradise, 'Erinn', which is the world in which Mabinogi takes place. Simple, but the story expands much farther in that, which I do not want to spoil for others. Currently, there are 3 arcs. Each main arc is a 'season', and although each have different themes, they all have a loose connection. Alone, the individual stories seem to get lost in themselves, and most definitely requires a summary to fully grasp. What interests me is that each season adds another piece to the puzzle of Vindictus's grand picture, so I'll be sure to stick around for the truest end of the game. There aren't many interesting or beloved characters in the story, but they're passable. They're like stuffed animals. They don't really have a whole much to do with, but you come to like their company as you play the game.

As said before, Vindictus is brutal. Enemies, bosses, and your character all REALLY want to kill eachother, and it damn well does a good job at presenting that. Not over the top, not too friendly. It's just right.

As a player who started during the advent of season 2, I say give it a try. If you can't run other MMOs and are intimidated by the screenshots, you'd be surpised that you might be able to play this one (at low settings) since this game runs on Source. The community may be small, but it is growing, and with the EU and NA server merge, the game will certainly feel more alive at the early-mid levels. Even once you're at the latest content, there's a constant flow of updates with even more content to chew on.

Not to mention boob physics.

I avoided this game for a long time because of other player’s negative posts. After I gave this game a shot because it is free after all, I found almost every single negative common to be a complete lie. there are many activities to do besides fighting and that is the only thing that some people might find repetitive, but even then this game is split up into chapters and seasons much like a TV show. Each one provides completely new environments and enemies to fight utilizing a hub town to launch missions from, eliminating pointless running around.

Really nice combat system, but all of the classes feel a tad overpowered. I mean, 8-man raids rarely take more than 3 people, aside from the season threes. Also, the developers... Apparently we're not allowed to make money until level 40+. The game itself, however, is quite entertaining, and worth atleast trying once.

Probably the most underrated MMORPG so far. It's dated free to play business model and NEXON have held this game back. The story is actually one of the best as far as MMORPGS go and the action combat is still feels unmatched more than half a decade later. Another issue it has is accessibility; some people may run into trouble running/starting the game or gearing/progressing. Honestly if the community grew and they started making better both publisher/developer decisions this game could still be a hit MMORPG.

Let me start out with a positive, the combat in the game is pretty cool. Sadly, that is the only good thing I can say about this game.

Between the freezing, drop in response of the game (input from controler or keyboard/mouse to the time your avatar takes an action), the combat can be very challenging and frustrating. Trying to upgrade items that cost you millions in game currency runs the risk of destroying the item, which is very easy to do. You can buy items from their microtransactoin store to reduce the risk of destroying items, however because of the severe greed of Nexon, you can easily spend hundreds of real dollars to do this.

As a free to play game goes, I would never recommend this to anyone. The currency store is very pricy, and they have time limits on items that other games are a once purchased items such as storage.

Very little substance, poorly-made mechanics, and the entire "world" feels awful.

The "world" feels very limited because, to go anywhere, you warp/travel on a boat (it's a cut-scene situation). Once you've warped, you just button mash (little to no strategy of movement and fighting is necessary), then warp back to home, run in the limited village, drop stuff off (you basically button-mash and click-mash), find another person to send you on a "quest" to button-mash in another place you warp to, and repeat. Describing the game as "pointless" gives it too much credit. It has very little substance.

Played this game when it was still pretty new. Still think it's awesome til this day. However there's two things I really have a hate for and it made me completely stop playing it:

1-Cash Shop: not really a problem if you don't intend to buy things with real money but if you do, cash items are quite expensive for it's price. I blame NEXON like we all should xD

2-High level raids: You'll know what this is once you get into the endgame stuff. This game gets really fun once you pass a certain level. Once you get into the higher levels however, you'll see people making parties with demands meaning they'll kick you out if you don't meet their standards. This happens way too much.

This game tends to be a grind fest because of the very low drop rates of rare items but I still had fun grinding.
Try this game out if you want something new than a general mmorpg. But if you want to make this game a hardcore hobby (like I did), I highly recommend joining a guild or make trustworthy and awesome friends.
