"It was at the time a really solid sci-fi multiplayer shooter. As it stands the business model leaves something to be desired. Try before you buy in."

"This is not only a great example of a professional and credible free-to-play game, but it's also one of the best first-person shooters I've played. I am quite serious when I say that, too. This game is a serious FPS contender, and its freemium status should not diminish your expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend you jump in and give it a try. It'll cost only your time to give it a whirl, and I am certain that it'll be time well spent."

"Great shooting mechanics and deep customization options make for an addictive combination, and its free-to-play model makes it easy to jump into with no upfront cost."
85 - IGN

"The matter is simple – the game is free to play and, if you take my word for it, an excellent shooter. In a perfect world, it would knock the CoD series on its ass."

4-Player Onslaught Co-Op

Get your team together to face the zombie horde in the Onslaught mode. Survive 10 waves of enemies, including civilians infected by the SIV virus and the highly-armed soldiers of The Order. Don't get too comfortable in your defense, though, because you'll need to sprint through the map to complete objectives and unlock more ammunition.

Hope your shotgun's ready, Agent...

About This Game

Take firefights to a futuristic new level in Blacklight: Retribution, a free-to-play FPS. See through walls with the HRV, deploy mechanized Hardsuits, and customize your weapons to dominate the opposition.

In Blacklight, mastering the futuristic tech is half of victory. You'll need to carefully balance your loadout, from the extreme customization possible in designing your firearms, to the equipment you carry and the in-match bonuses you can unlock. The Hyper Reality Visor (HRV) allows you to look through walls and spot enemies, and attack from where they aren't expecting - but be careful, because you're vulnerable while using it.

The other half of victory? Raw skill, same as it's always been. Good hunting, Agent...

PunkBuster™ Anti-Cheat from Even Balance, Inc. is required to play Blacklight Retribution. This program will be installed alongside the game client.

I would not recommend downloading this game until they fix it. The "Parity Patch" has all but ruined what was my all time favorite game. I have over 1500 hours invested in this game so I have a very good understanding of how the play mechanics were, and pre-patch they were not without flaw, but, it was the best 1st person shooter game that I have ever played. It was unique, and the players in the community were fun and entertaining. All they needed to do it was just add some new content like maps, weapons, gear and fix some of the bugs like the elevators and the server disconnects and it would have been fine. Now it seems as if they rewrote all the gameplay characteristic files from scratch, it no longer plays like Blacklight Retribution it plays exactly like COD. The recoil spread system that was in place was fantastic, it required the player to become familiar with the weapon of choice in the manner in which the player decided to build the weapon with its firing characteristics in order to become effective using that weapon. The parity patch all but removed this, eliminating the recoil which essentially turned all weapons into "lazer" guns, now you can be sniped from across a map with a pistol with extreme accuracy and players can just sit in long corridors with heavy hitting machine guns with large ammo capcities and just spray "lazers" making engagement difficult and frustrating. The character building was also unique, all different styles, hp, speed, etc.., but once again they decided to gut that aspect of it too, decreasing overall running speeds and eliminating the stamina on sprint so that a tank build can now sprint infinately which effectively eliminated the true speed build from the game. The game just has a completely different feel to it. So if you are a COD fan then this is essentially a sci-fi COD with boring and predictable engagement and is right up your alley, otherwise, to the returning vets of this game be prepared to be completely disappointed with the revamped/recoded gameplay characteristics, the removal of map awareness and weapon familiarity skill to be effective and the loss of global chat and email system. I also want to say "thanks" to Hardsuit Labs for pretty much ruining this game for me.

I have 150+ hours JUST ON STEAM. I have probably another 200+ outside of Steam.
The game, as of 4/21/2015, is pretty much dead. However, it has a new dev, so more people should be playing it as new content is released.
It's not your average F2P FPS. You can PERMANENTLY buy weapons and weapon parts (stock, scope, barrel, etc). People say it's P2W, but it isn't. I have not payed a cent, and I do really well. The gameplay is good, however spawns suck.

-Detailed weapon creation
-Fun gameplay

-Frustrating spawns
-Nulls, and really bad lag sometimes
-Servers are constantly down
