Steam Exclusive Offer

Purchase Gunpoint from Steam and receive an exclusive Team Fortress 2 item:
The Crosslinker's Coil
Did you know: before the mercenary fashion world discovered the obvious style and mental health benefits of wearing 22 feet of powered electrical cable around your head, people once wore hatbands made from 'silk' or other barely-lethal textiles! Strange but true.

Special Edition

The Special Edition of Gunpoint includes:

  • The Soundtrack: Includes all of the game's noir-inspired spy music in high quality MP3 format.
  • Developer Commentary: When enabled, you'll find little sprites of Gunpoint's developers on every mission. Talk to us to hear a little about our thinking behind the design (Tom), the art (John), and the music (Ryan).
Caution: shooting a developer while he's talking ends his current commentary track. This kills the developer.

Exclusive Edition

The Exclusive Edition includes all of the items in the Special Edition plus:

  • The Making Of Gunpoint: a 40-minute video feature taking you through how Gunpoint developed from a one-room test game to what you play today. Featuring Gunpoint's designer playing his earliest prototypes for the first time since they were made, to great personal embarrassment and shame.
  • The Prototype Pack (Windows only): Play snapshots of Gunpoint's development at 9 different stages, including cartoony programmer art, the first conception of the hacking system, many scrapped levels, and overpowered gadgets we later cut. For hopefully obvious reasons, we can't give technical support for these.
  • Exclusive Tracks: Bonus pieces produced specially by Gunpoint's composers for this edition, mixing the game's noir style with electronic influences. Since they're not used as background music in the game, our composers took the chance to be more adventurous with these tracks.
  • The Secret Beta Access List (betas may be Windows only): adds an option in the game menu to sign up to our Secret Beta Access List. If and when future Suspicious Developments games are developed, we'll sometimes give secret beta versions only to the members of this list.

About This Game

Gunpoint is a stealth puzzle game that lets you rewire its levels to trick people. You play a freelance spy who takes jobs from his clients to break into high security buildings and steal sensitive data.

To get past security, you'll need to make creative use of your main gadget: the Crosslink. It lets you see how all the security devices in a level are wired up, and then you can just click and drag with the mouse to wire them differently. So you can connect a lightswitch to a trapdoor, then flick it when a guard walks across to make him fall through.

Key Features

  • Rewire levels to work however you want
  • Trick guards into trapping themselves or shooting each other
  • Throw yourself - and others - through plate glass windows
  • Investigate a noir-inspired story of murder and espionage over 20 missions
  • Choose what to tell your clients, including lying to trick them
  • Choose your own playstyle: quick, quiet, non-violent, no living witnesses, or any combination
  • Discover new solutions to levels that no-one else has thought of
  • Buy specialist gadgets to suit how you want to play
  • All story stuff is skippable
  • Hardest puzzles are optional
  • No bosses - everyone dies in one shot, including you

Superb little game. I loved the story, and the hacking mechanics were very clever. My only complaint was that it was over before I knew it! I would have loved more levels, they were very fun.

Very fun. Great art, music, and writing that's smart and genuinely funny. Lots of puzzles with multiple solutions. You definitely feel more powerful and capable as you progress. Simple and smooth controls that are taught through play. Failure is sudden but the reasons are obvious and entirely on you. Then you're back to playing instantly without having to start from the beginning. In short, this game respects your time.

I think my only complaint is that it respects your time so much, it feels kinda short. There is some replay value if you want to see how different parts of the story play out, but the levels are almost entirely the same. The Steam Workshop integration provides some new challenges.

There's a free demo you can try.

This is a stealth game where you jump around and hide from guards while hacking into security systems and other appliances. You can use the switches and lights and make each activation activate something else. The guards have good aim and don't miss often. If you get hit, you're dead. The lights can be taken out to reduce visibility and sockets can be short circuted to electrocute guards. This is a neat game with interesting mechanics. My only problem is that it is a short game with 6 hours of gameplay at the most. There is a level editor which technically makes the game limitless but it is not heavily used by the community and there are only a small amount of maps in the workshop. I bought this game for $2.49 and I would say it is worth it for that price and would still be worth it for $5.00. The original price at the time of posting this is $9.99 which I do not think it is worth but if its $5.00 or under on a sale I reccommend you pick it up.

When I found this game for the first time I only added it to my wishlist because of the TF2 hat you get for owning it but after beating the story I would happily burn this digital hat if it meant Gunpoint 2 would begin development. I don't excpct it any time soon because Tom Francis is working on a new game currently, but I pray that once that game finishes we can get a sequel. The only real problem I have with it is that whenever I activate crosslink the game freezes for about 8-10 seconds, however there has been various posts on the discussions board about this, and there is currently a way to fix it by reverting to the old version or something like that, but other than that the game will run fine on the ♥♥♥♥♥iest of toasters.

The game currently has a demo which is why I didn't go into detail about the gameplay, you can try it out for free and if you feel like you think it's worth the money go ahead and buy it.

I find reviewing games with free demos is useless, but sometimes it's nice to get other opinions to help you decide, and I shall give you my watered down thoughts right now

Puzzles - Challenging + Workshop missions

Gameplay - Fun, beating people to ♥♥♥♥ is hilarious and causing an infinite loop with the crosslink is cool.

Story - interesting, but you don't really need to pay attention to understand what to do as there is always a box around your objective

Characters - Decent, you don't get to learn too much about the people you work for but you can make your character a generic detective from a cheesy detective show and that's pretty cool.

Graphics - It's 8-bit and it looks sexy

Music - Amazing, nuff said.

Length - Okay, it took me 3 hours to beat the game, but since the game has a few split path missions which let you change the story a bit I bet I'll be spending another 3-4 hours trying to complete the other path.

Gunpoint is a really fun stealth action puzzle game that has a decent story and amazing gameplay, you can buy Gunpoint on steam or the official Gunpoint website for 9.99 USD or your regional equivalent.

I have played this game through and It is so far one of my faviorite games I own on steam, the storyline is well written and the gameplay and AI run very smoothly, as I did not run into a single bug while playing. Although the storyline is rather small, it is ok comparing to others available on steam and gives the player a varity of choice that can acctuly effect the outcome in the end. (NOTE: This is also a puzzle game and not just stealthy platformer shooter and does require some brainpower to finish levels)
Overall, this is a great game with good gameplay, an interesting and inclusive storyline, and is well worth it's money and time. 9/10

8bit Indie. Groovy-Jazz. Stealth with puzzle.
The Sense of humour of the developer is too damn high. Loved it!

Great game if a bit short

good narrative multiple choices that will make you want to play it over again

fun puzzle gameplay that allows novices to pick easily while allowing those skilled with puzzles to a good challenge

only problem is how short it is

Gunpoint is a stealth game that throws you right into the middle of a conspiracy which threatens to take away your freedom. Murder! Did you commit it? Will the corporations manage to trap you in their web of lies? Who will make it out alive? What is your fate, and the fate of others? Gunpoint will answer all these questions as you play it again and again.

Probably one of the most interesting mixed genre games I've played in awhile. You've got stealth, you've got puzzling of a sort, and you've got platforming. Combine them all together and you end up with a masterful combination that takes you on a journey of punching, zapping, and eventually even kicking things into people in order to infiltrate and discover "Who dun it?"

Sound: For the game and the setting, the music is so appropriate. It just keeps you in the mood to keep going even when you've failed a few times. The few sound effect assets aside from the music are simple, to the point, and not bothersome.

Graphics: This game as very simple graphics, but they do exactly what the dev intended. Though they aren't complex, they do exactly what they need to in order to keep the game going. You can tell the dev put some work into the various levels.

Controls: Very simple, responsive, and intuitive. Except for one small bug, discussed below.

Gameplay: I had no real issues though I thought I did till I discovered the reason I was frustrated. When you first start crosslinking, a popup at the bottom of the screen tells you how it works. Click and drag to connect two things, and click on something to remove the connection. Somehow I made it through half the game before it decided to finally put the information on my screen when I was completing a mission. Prior to that, I was having issues disconnecting things, sometimes they would, sometimes they wouldn't. Perhaps it's my fault for not figuring it out on my own, yet personally, I think that's a devs job. But I wouldn't know how to report this anyways.... Either way - Now you know in case you run into the same issue. Click and drag to connect.... Click and release to disconnect. Now go punch people in the face... No really. Do it.

Overall: 9/10 - This game has great replay value at least a few times to discover the various arcs. I haven't completed them all myself, but even on your first playthrough you can tell that this will be an option later. Sadly the game has been bundled, but even so, the game is worth it. Personally, I'd probably try to get a coupon, but it's still not a bad way to spend $10, but better if it was six or seven instead. Definitely will go kicking more things later. And Punching. Lots more Punching. Punching is love... Punching is life. Eat, Pray, Punch.

Honestly one of the most unique puzzle games I have played in years. It\'s the only game I\'ve seen to truly blend a well-designed hacking mechanic with a top-notch stealth system. The music is jazzy and adds to the noire feel of the game. The level editor is great with loads of community levels to test your skills on. The only problem with the game is that it ended too quickly.

I highly recommend it.

Short but incredible game.
Noir style story, great humor, beautiful graphics, fun puzzles.
Not a huge fan of having to restart the whole game to get all achievements but if you're not obsessed with achievement hunting that shouldn't bother you.
Even better it comes with a level editor offering a nice way of extending its playability.

It is quite a short game for $10 but if it's on sale GET IT.
