Steam Exclusive Offer

Purchase Gunpoint from Steam and receive an exclusive Team Fortress 2 item:
The Crosslinker's Coil
Did you know: before the mercenary fashion world discovered the obvious style and mental health benefits of wearing 22 feet of powered electrical cable around your head, people once wore hatbands made from 'silk' or other barely-lethal textiles! Strange but true.

Special Edition

The Special Edition of Gunpoint includes:

  • The Soundtrack: Includes all of the game's noir-inspired spy music in high quality MP3 format.
  • Developer Commentary: When enabled, you'll find little sprites of Gunpoint's developers on every mission. Talk to us to hear a little about our thinking behind the design (Tom), the art (John), and the music (Ryan).
Caution: shooting a developer while he's talking ends his current commentary track. This kills the developer.

Exclusive Edition

The Exclusive Edition includes all of the items in the Special Edition plus:

  • The Making Of Gunpoint: a 40-minute video feature taking you through how Gunpoint developed from a one-room test game to what you play today. Featuring Gunpoint's designer playing his earliest prototypes for the first time since they were made, to great personal embarrassment and shame.
  • The Prototype Pack (Windows only): Play snapshots of Gunpoint's development at 9 different stages, including cartoony programmer art, the first conception of the hacking system, many scrapped levels, and overpowered gadgets we later cut. For hopefully obvious reasons, we can't give technical support for these.
  • Exclusive Tracks: Bonus pieces produced specially by Gunpoint's composers for this edition, mixing the game's noir style with electronic influences. Since they're not used as background music in the game, our composers took the chance to be more adventurous with these tracks.
  • The Secret Beta Access List (betas may be Windows only): adds an option in the game menu to sign up to our Secret Beta Access List. If and when future Suspicious Developments games are developed, we'll sometimes give secret beta versions only to the members of this list.

About This Game

Gunpoint is a stealth puzzle game that lets you rewire its levels to trick people. You play a freelance spy who takes jobs from his clients to break into high security buildings and steal sensitive data.

To get past security, you'll need to make creative use of your main gadget: the Crosslink. It lets you see how all the security devices in a level are wired up, and then you can just click and drag with the mouse to wire them differently. So you can connect a lightswitch to a trapdoor, then flick it when a guard walks across to make him fall through.

Key Features

  • Rewire levels to work however you want
  • Trick guards into trapping themselves or shooting each other
  • Throw yourself - and others - through plate glass windows
  • Investigate a noir-inspired story of murder and espionage over 20 missions
  • Choose what to tell your clients, including lying to trick them
  • Choose your own playstyle: quick, quiet, non-violent, no living witnesses, or any combination
  • Discover new solutions to levels that no-one else has thought of
  • Buy specialist gadgets to suit how you want to play
  • All story stuff is skippable
  • Hardest puzzles are optional
  • No bosses - everyone dies in one shot, including you

Gunpoint is like that one very funny episode of your favorite cartoon. Short, but a whole lot of fun. The entire game can be beaten in just a few hours, and all the achievements can be done in pretty much the same time. While the game doesn't house much, it does have a few things. First off, anyone who plays Team Fortress 2 is getting a free hat, which is pretty cool. Second, it's got a level editor and a workshop full of levels that can easily extend your 5 hour playtime by a lot. Finally, the different game mechanics are a blast to use and figure out, and the different ways to each stage can really make you stop and think for a minute. If you have the money, I say you should definitely get it, but if you're a bit tight on cash then wait for it to go on sale or save up a bit.

From the gameplay videos by others, this game seems particularly promising and fun, but only in 1/5 of the times the game was started, did it proceed to load normally rather than just crashing or not doing anything.

This game is very fun and halarious, the fun part is it's an action puzzle game that make you feels like you are playing modded 2d watchdog , the halarious part is about punching guards in their face ( Like A BOSS :D ). You can also upgrade stuffs like jump higher and faster charge time, break window without any noise, have chances of dodging bullets etc.
And this game also come with level editor, How cool Is THAT

Honestly Amazing.
Whoever created this, is a damn genius, I am talking Albert Einstine genius. The gameplay is interesting, especially for a platformer. Don't get me, wrong, I am not saying platformers are bad, I am just saying NO platformer is as good as this one so far. Seriously though, could be game of the YEAR or at least game of the month. I was very suprised at how AMAZING this game was. I had some money to spend and I had this game on my wishlist already, but, I bought it, using the rest of my money, thanking, "What if this game is'nt as good as the trailer made it out to look like." My biggest regret EVER is almost regreting to buy this game. This game only offers 1 and 1/2 - 2 and 1/2 of gameplay for one ending... But there is so much replayability, IT DOES'NT EVEN MATTER. If you do not own this game, BUY IT! It is NOT a wasste WHATSOEVER! This game has quickly infiltrated and hacked it's way into my top 5 games OF ALL TIME. Please, I am begging you, BUY THIS GAME! Oh, and don't even GET ME STARTED on this game's gameplay... You would never hear the end of it...

This gem is for any who enjoys a quirky sense of humors and puzzle solving. It is especially worth a look if you enjoy taking the time to create your own levels in games. This game offers a lot of personality in its simple but incredibly well-crafted package. The community aspect of building and sharing new levels inside of Steams workshop gives the game longevity. The film noir atmosphere, along with its smooth jazz soundtrack makes it relaxing to play through, the dynamic puzzles keep you engaged, and the writing keeps you entertained.

Worth your time

Gunpoint is a puzzle game where you play as a noir archetype flung into a deadly game of intrigue, don't worry it's not as serious as it sounds since the writing is funny and witty. The premise is simple: Infiltrate highly secured buildings using your high jump ability while occasionaly punching security guards in their faces, later on you get the means to rewrite circuitry like cameras, doors and lights. My playtrough lasted 3 hours and it was entirely enjoyable, there's is something to be said of games not outlasting their welcome. In conclusion i recommend this title to anyone who likes puzzle games plus who doesn't like a game that references Airplane?

Gunpoint is very fun and playable game. What I mean is that its interface is smooth, it's easy to get into; it's tricky, but it never feels frustrating. Unlike some action-puzzle games, the emphasis really is on figuring out what to do. Once you actually decide on a course of action, it's usually quite easy to pull it off, especially with the generous save-at-any-point system. The gameplay really gets you feeling like a "freelance spy", kicking down doors and rewiring circuits to pull off crazy plans. Plus, there's a level editor included, if you want more after playing through the story!

The graphics are quite detailed, with a semi-pixelly charm, and the animation is very smooth. The noir-esque ambient music helps you get in the mood. The story is interesting noir intrigue, peppered with absurdity and dark humor.

Highly recommended!

Creative and minimal indie game when it is at its very best.

Short story mode but with the abundance of content available via Steam Workshop that is hardly a problem.

Positive adjective x15, would definitely verb again. 10/10.

I honestly did not think I'd get a full playthrough done of this game. I bought it just for no reason, but this has easily reached the top of my favorites list. Y'see, I'm a sarcastic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, so the little remarks the main character says really hit home. This is the only stealth game where I actually tried to be stealthy. The mechanics in this game are probably my favorite of all my time playing video games, truthfully. I don't know why I didn't buy this any sooner. In my opinion, this is THE epitome of a perfect game, just my opinion. 10/10 :)

What Gunpoint is, is a 2D engine for organically creating spectacular movie-style moments and a game that demonstrates the power of little touches. From publishing yor own custom epilogue on a fake blog, to tense stealth that became a bar brawl, this little gem is great in all aspects. Style, gameplay and story.

Gun point is a GREAT! game that feature very fun mechanics and inviting gameplay plus a interesting story, although hard to follow at some times it was still easy to get the basics of it and my only gripe about the game is that i feel that it was too short and there needs to be more content because i really enjoyed gunpoint and dont want my experiance to end to quickly.

This game is a good fun puzzle game, with a sound track that is just perfect, and a good story. My only complaint is that the story is very short (Took me 2 hours to finish). This game is buffeted by the addition of workshop content, and with a good community editor out there, this game has great replay value.

9/10 - Story too short.

This is why indie games are far better than AAA
Who cares about graphics when you got perfect gameplay, music and story
AAA games 1. Indie games over 9000
This and Undertale are some the best games l have ever played

Only thing l can't understand is why punching ONCE on guards count as "kill" in the pause menu
It should be injured or unconscious
Ruining my Pacifist run just because l punched, l only punched once
Edit: Did Pacifist run, just ignore the 2 dead in the epilogue if you manage this run, they are scripted

Yeah l know l can't think of something to write
It is already being said

This game is surprisingly great. I bought it on a sale expecting a few hours of a reasonably fun game, but I got way more out of it (although not in hours, since the game is very short).

All the levels are very well designed, and offer a kind of difficulty mode integrated into them - you can just fulfill your goal in any way you like, which is not that hard, or you can go to the optional objectives and requirements, which requires more of the player. It's very fun and rewarding to use all your gadgets to successfully complete an infiltration.

The story is simple, but very well-told, with funny writing combined with a noir atmosphere, and a satisfiyng conclusion, which is always a plus.

So, yeah, I recommend it even at full-price, even with its short length. You won't regret it.

Gunpoint is a stealth puzzle game just as the developer says, and is a very competent game as well. The game boils down to its two main mechanics and ties in a detective story with some humor too. With some simple gameplay mechanics, the level design is done in such a way to take full advantage of your toolset for some invigorating puzzles and stealth.

The story in Gunpoint revolves around freelance spy Richard Conway, as he tries to clear his name from someone’s murder and solve a murder mystery. The majority of the story is told through messages on Conway’s phone, and this is where the humor comes in. You the player are given multiple dialog options, and several of Conway’s responses are snarky or bizarre in context. Whichever response is picked, there’s bound to be some good laughs at the overall script and the player dialog. In the main game there are a few choices to be made. They do change the story slightly, though the levels remain mostly the same. Anyhow, the strong film noir story works out fine with some excellent humor mixed in, along with good variety in dialog responses and story choices to mix things up.

Gunpoint’s stealth puzzle gameplay is in two distinct pieces. The first is the Bullfrog, a set of trousers that allow Conway to leap really tall distances and at a high speed. Conway can also pounce on enemies and punch them either to knock them out or to death. The second is the Crosslink, a tool to hack and rewire electrical components together to solve puzzles. These two components are the basis for the puzzles and stealth of the game, with the levels strongly using these mechanics in interesting ways. Throughout the game, unlocks can be received, either through using skill points for upgrading the Bullfrog and battery system or for unlocking new abilities. The new abilities tie in closely with the core mechanics, and serve to augment certain playstyles players may have as they complete each level. The levels and abilities serve multiple kinds of solutions, whether it be violent engagements or undetected stealth. With these two gameplay mechanics and great level design that gives players multiple ways to solve them, Gunpoint’s stealth puzzle gameplay is quite open ended on giving players freedom using just these two main tools.

The art style of Gunpoint is a 2d pixelated style. The world of Gunpoint is pretty well detailed, while still having a pixel art style that isn’t too retro. The environments do a great job in expressing the film noir style with the different buildings and the urban setting, with relatively simple character and object models to make gameplay streamlined with easy to see designs. Overall it’s a mix of good detail in the buildings and backgrounds, with more simple designs on characters and objects to easily stick out in gameplay.

The music of Gunpoint is an excellent jazzy soundtrack. Since this game is heavily inspired by film noir, it would only be natural to have the music reflect that style. Each of the music pieces range from slower songs played in the menu or during the phone dialog, to faster songs well suited to the espionage during gameplay. The songs played during gameplay have essentially two versions, one when the view is normal and the other when Crosslink mode is active. It’s a very nice touch that helps to identify which mode the player is in, and suits the current display too with a more electronic style when hacking along with the jazzy style while in the main view. The music of Gunpoint brings in some nice sounding jazz that sounds great while playing through both the story and gameplay sections.

Gunpoint takes stealth puzzle gameplay with its two main mechanics: leaping and hacking. The game takes these concepts and uses them in new ways with its levels and unlockable abilities. Alongside that is a film noir story that packs some solid humor with both the overall script and possible dialog choices. To tie the game together are a fitting detailed pixel art style and a solid jazz soundtrack that makes gameplay fun and fitting to the theme. Gunpoint plays well with these elements for a unique game experience that is fun to play through along with some bright ideas for some smart game design.
