《轩辕剑外传 汉之云》是一款单人回合制角色扮演游戏，游戏背景设定为英雄辈出的三国乱世。本作与《轩辕剑伍 一剑凌云山海情》、《轩辕剑外传 云之遥》合称「轩辕剑伍系列三部曲」。《轩辕剑外传 汉之云》故事发生在《轩辕剑外传 云之遥》之后、《轩辕剑伍 一剑凌云山海情》之前。

游戏故事

纪元二二○年，立国四百余年的大汉帝国，疆域陆续一分为三。
中原的曹丕，宣称汉献帝刘协将天下禅让于己，国号「魏」。
巴蜀的刘备，自称继承了大汉四百年正统刘氏血脉，国号「汉」。
接受魏帝册封吴王的江东霸主孙权，纪元二二九年亦独立称帝，国号「吴」。
自此三国鼎立，时代迈入「三国时代」。

三国时代初年，大汉丞相诸葛亮在数年的休息生养、累积国力之后，毅然决定利用魏帝曹丕新丧、洛阳人心不安之机，展开北伐复兴大业。
