What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cine Tracer 2 is built from scratch in Unreal Engine 5 and takes the lessons learned from developing and supporting the original Cine Tracer. Cine Tracer "Original" will remain available on Steam and existing Cine Tracer users will get Cine Tracer 2 for free.

Film Equipment
All of the assets in Cine Tracer 2 are being designed and created from scratch to be compatible with UE5 Control Rig, Chaos Vehicles, and other technologies. The goal is to have a full library of camera, lighting, and grip equipment based on real world equipment.

Locations and Stages
UE5 Lumen allows for "maps" to be designed with practical lights that can be turned off and on by the filmmakers. The goal is to build a collection of commonly used locations that take advantage of the new lighting capabilities. This will give filmmakers who do not want to light the locations from scratch the agility to start working immediately.

Virtual Actors
Cine Tracer 2 uses Epic Games' MetaHuman 2.0 for virtual actors. The goal is to build a large library of customization options so that filmmakers can visualize what their actors would look like. This includes custom clothing, accessories, props, body and faces poses, and body and face animations.

Shot List System
The new Shot List system expands on Cine Tracer's existing save system. The goal with the new Shot List system is to be able to save multiple "Shots" within one project. Planning more complicated / longer scenes will be much more streamlined.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Cine Tracer 2 will be in Early Access for approximately 2 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The plan is to continue to add new camera equipment, lighting equipment, locations, and virtual actor clothing options.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Please see the "About This" section for information on the current state of the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Pricing is the same for Early Release and full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback via Instagram @cinetracer and YouTube are heavily considered during development.”

About This Game

If you want Cine Tracer (original) and Cine Tracer 2, purchase Cine Tracer.

Cine Tracer 2 is a virtual filmmaking sandbox that allows filmmakers to visualize short films, commercials, and feature films. The game has a strong first person framework built from scratch in Unreal Engine 5 that takes advantage of new lighting technology like Lumen Global Illumination and Reflections. The system has also been designed to work well with both gamepad/controller and mouse and keyboard.

Included is a single camera dolly system, a small lighting library, and two locations. The first location is a Gas Station that uses the new Sun, Sky, and Clouds system. The second location is a Warehouse Stage with a pre built 3 wall White Cyc and pre designed lighting grid.

The virtual actors are made with MetaHumans 2.0 and offer a wide range of hair options. There is small selection of clothing and and actors poses.
