As I run down the sandy street I hear insurgents talking, they are speaking some arabic language I don't know. The rest of my squad follows. They all get ready to attack as they also hear the Insurgents around the corner. As we move in and attack one of my brothers in arms, Johnny, gets hit in the gut and falls backwards with a 'THUMP'. One of my friends in my squad yells "SNIPER!!!". As the shot went into Jonnys gut, the Insurgents notice the shot and head in my squads direction. Under fire, I get my squad into order. I yell " TAKING FIRE!!! CONTACT, IN FRONT. 30 METERS" They all take action and return fire to the enemy while in cover. I sadly couldn't do anything for Johnny as he was already coughing up blood and shivering in pain. And there was no medic even close to our position, I had to leave him there to suffer. I hear one of them across the street yell ALLAH ACKBAR As he throws a grenade my way. I run to the Metal barrels on 10 meters on my left as my squad covers me. I nearly get shot multiple times as bullets hit the ground and I hear them wizz around me from the opposite side of my team. As the grenade explodes, My Rifleman hits the man that threw the grenade my way. He yells" GOT EM SARGE." After about 2 minutes of returning fire and nearly getting hit mulitple times. We finally route them off, with only 2 left to tell the story out of the 8. But that sniper was still alive, it took some potshots at us and missed. Must of been a newbie to their Insurgent ranks. I aim my M1 at the rooftop where he was proning, and take a few shots, I see him drop his rifle of the edge of the roof, and he slumps over. Dead. And that was the day I killed my first man.
