Tribes: Ascend 1.3 - Patch Notes


Gameplay
  • Hellfire is now available to play for CTF and Blitz and has been added to all appropriate server map rotations.
  • Votekick percentage increased to 45%, up from 35%
  • Changed votekick message to include player who initiated the votekick.
  • "Vote by [votekick_starter]: kick [kickable_player]?"
  • Ammo pickups now yield the same 400 hp heal on all armor types when
    • Light - Heals for 400 HP, up from 300.
    • Medium - Heals for 400 hp, down from 462.
    • Heavy - Heals for 400 hp, down from 520.
      picked up.
  • Blueshift has been removed from map rotations by community request. This map will still be available to play on custom servers.
Equipment Changes
  • Automatic Weapons
    • All rapid fire weapons have had RNG based spread completed removed in favor for precise shots based on player skill only.
    • The following weapons have had their damage falloff values adjusted to 80% damage at range. This is to normalize the falloff between other similar weapons.

    • May now fire without locking a target. This will result a dumbfire missile with no tracking ability, similar to the old Titan Launcher.

      Minimum damage decreased to 600 damage at max range.
  • Thrown Disks
    • Decreased damage to 350, down from 600.
    • Increased direct hit multiplier to 2.0, up from 1.5. Now deals 700 damage on direct impact.
  • Heavy weapons impulse reduction
    • The following weapons have had their impulse values reduced to 85,000 down from 90,000.

  • Plasma Gun
    • Fire interval reduced to 0.5, down from 0.6
    • Damage reduced to 270, down from 280.
  • NJ5 returns to Medium armor.

    • Increased radius to 400, up from 350.
  • Shocklance
    • Damage increased to 600, up from 500.

    • Removed impulse given to hit target.
  • Fixed a long standing issue where beams from sniper rifles would not connect with a target when successfully hit at long distances.
  • Fixed an issue preventing players from equipping a repair tool at a repair station when they have the ELF gun equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where the Flak Cannon / EFG would not reload at various stages in its clip.
  • Fixed an issue where the Flak Cannon / EFG would award multiple kills on a single target.
Vehicles
  • Vehicle ejection speeds have been increased.
    • Light ejects at 50% vehicle speed, up from 40%
    • Medium ejects at 40% vehicle speed, up from 35%
  • GravCycle
    • Health reduced to 1400, down from 2200.
  • Shrike
    • Health reduced to 1400, down from 2800
    • Energy regeneration per second reduced to 10, down from 20
    • Reduced impulse from weapon to 2500, down from 10,000
    • Explosion radius reduced to 200, down from 250
  • Fixed an issue where many projectiles were being killed on direct impact with a vehicle and not dealing damage to them, especially while stationary.
Misc.
  • Additional network optimizations to improve performance.
  • Tweaked load balancing logic to try and keep players on the same physical server between map transitions.
  • Lowered minimum mip settings to allow players to adjust their INI settings for extremely low texture resolutions.
  • Fixed an issue where the weapon HUD would turn back on after match completed even though it had been disabled.
  • Fixed an issue where the laser targeter target location wasn’t being properly set while in 3rd person camera mode.
  • Fixed an issue where empty perks were being shown in the spectator hud.

About This Game

Tribes: Ascend is the world’s fastest shooter - a high-adrenaline, online multiplayer FPS with jetpacks, skiing, vehicles, and multiple classes. The classic shooter franchise Tribes has been played by well over 1 million people. With Tribes: Ascend, the franchise is reborn – fast-paced, vertical, acrobatic combat combined with class-based teamwork and stunning sci-fi visuals.

Key Features:

  • Skiing: A slow soldier is a dead soldier. By holding down space bar you remove friction and build momentum to traverse large maps, hunt down targets, and escape enemy territory at intense speeds.
  • Jetpacks: Total freedom of movement and aerial, dog-fight like combat.
  • Class-Based Combat: Unlock up to nine distinct classes, each with unique weapon loadouts and abilities.

Tribes Ascend is a super cool futuristic shooter with jetpacks and skiing, if you love speed and vehicles and skiing super fast, this is the game for you. Combat is sick, because you can shoot discs and kill enemies mid-air :D

1, servers are shut down. 2, this game was made in 2012 and has the graphics of a 2002 console fps.

BAD STUFF

I really wanted to like it. I celebrated when the out of the blue update came out. but as like most greedy companies, high rez can't live with out monitizing the crap out of their game.

Where to begin, the community is toxic as hell. most people would complain "wassn't tribes 2 and vengance the same way" no where close as to how bad it is in this game. people slam and insult eachother other petty little things and complaints. even pointing out how stacked teams are will get you removed from a server, cause the vets have no respect for new players trying to get into the game.

speakign of stacking adn vets, the small community that remains with in the game is pretty much only one of two groups of vetern players. both of which regularly pile up on one team from what I'v watched. And pummel the other players on the other while insulting them, pretending their balls are bigger then the earth cause they are all on one team.

Weapon acqusition isnt too bad, but it plays in part with the whole "Stacking" deal. In old tribes games, you never had to unlock weapons. you joined a server, you set up your load outs and you go. no having to acquire 12000 points to buy your shocklance, no getting 8000 points to buy your mines to put down on the flag. its what kept the community freindly, I sucked to high heaven in tribes 2, but didn't matter to me. I had every thing in the game, there wassn't any thing I had to grind for? why get angery?
In tribes ascend how ever you haved to grind out XP to buy your weapons, packs, gernades, every thing except for vehicles. a patch after the out of the blue update made it easier to grind up the XP's tog et weapons but still with the need to win to get the best ammount of XP's leads to the enviroment between plays to be very toxic and not for those who were hoping to learn from teh vets. CAuse sadly it will most likely end with you getting frustrated and the vets just laughing and pointlessly seeking you out to kill you as well as slanderize you down to the personal level point of sayying things that are considerably in the zone of harresment.

I want to see the game flourish, I really wanted to relive the glory days of tribes 2 and vengance but jsut high rez screwed it up to much, they should just stick with making MOBAS cause this tribes game is a stain on the tribes name.

GOOD STUFF

BUT... not everything about this game is bad. the mechanics for stuff liek skiing, disk jumps and such are just gorgouse and fluid. and the graphics are actually not half bad for a tribes game... if only they werent wasted.

they did bring back old favorites fromt eh series, such as the original desighn of the spin fusor (But its called the "light spin fursor" and as the name suggest, its only for light armor), as wella s shocklance, plasma gun and relativly similar model desighn for the gernade launcher from Tribes 2. to add further to that they kept up the looks of blood eagle and diamond sword armor (if you don't know what I mean. go google what a diamond sword heavy looked like in tribes 2, then look at a diamond sword heavy in ascend)

for even more nestolgia they brought back a few maps from old games! Though when playing them youl be quick to notice... they shrunk a fair bit... (when did katabatic get so small?)




Do I recommend you play tribes ascend?
Despite they nestolgia they put back into teh game. no ...I can't bare to let the vets in that game but jerks to more people looking to relive their old days. you can play it if you really wanna try but be warned, the community is more toxic then chocolate would be to a dog. You wont hear me complain about the learning curve, all tribes games are like that. Thats what made them fun! but the whole having to unlock your gear thing is what disgraces the tribes name. made the players more hostile to people trying to get on their level. rather then just joking about and explaining how to they crazy stunts they do.

Seems like a cool game. Can't play it because one of the pre-requisites required is an old version of adobe flash player, which can't be installed

Words can not describe how angry I am with the developers of this game (Hi-Rez Studios).

Tribes: Ascend is a fantastic game. One of the best FPS games I have ever played.

Why am I not recommending it? Because the devs abandoned the game to make a ♥♥♥♥ing MOBA. And it's not the first time they've abandoned a game for another. These guys made Global Agenda, another game I loved, and then abandoned it to make Tribes: Ascend.

They will likely abandon Smite, because they are making another MOBA now.
