Man... PTOII for SNES was one of my fav games of all time. THousands of hours on that one no doubt about it. When I picked this up, I was literally overblown with joy with what seemed to be nostalgia from those days. Bugs though, man oh man bugs. Maybe not even bugs but unfinished/poorly implemented concepts (like the battles. Not somethign about the battles, the battles as a whole. What a wreck) Many fantastic ideas, I loved the supply system in this game, the recruiting system, the ship and plane building system, and the base system. They should have focused on the strategy side as there is great promise there; in my personal opinion 1)The battles 2)The bugs and 3)The AI totally do this game in. A shame too, because it had some potential.

In theory, this game had an amazing concept, but due to poor controls, and just all around bad excecution of the game, it is a terrible game, do not buy unless you like the idea so much you are willing to look past its flaws

The Pacific War is a strategy gamers wet dream. National economies. Huge spaces. Technological competition. Surprise. Huge battles on land sea and in the air. Sadly the games that attempt to depict this huge conflict rarely get the balance of detail and playability right. The old KOEI titles from last century remain the best efforts. This game seems to have all the necessary details. But it is incredibly difficult and confusing to organise develop or deploy your resources. You will be lost in the details of your bases wondering how to organise and command units. How to deploy new weapons and munitions from your industry to the front line. The game has poor controls and opaque map and cumbersome UI and menus. All in all this game is NOT recommended. It is worthless for casual gamers and too cumbersome even for people who love the genre. I think the developers mean well, but have to understand when you are dealing with such a huge number of details and variables, fluid and clear UI and menus are vital. With luck a team with a bigger budget will one day address the Pacific War and provide a game that allows ALL the details but can present them more ffectively. THIS IS NOT THAT GAME.

CONSIDER THIS: THE TRUE GAME. I invite anyone reading this to consider the place of games in their lives. Do you feel it is an addiction or distraction? Do you feel it contributes to a sense of social and political lethargy? Does gaming function as an ajunct to TV as a form of mind control for (mostly) young males while you are being set up as potential recruit-fodder for the armed forces? There is a REAL game in this world. It is big and complex and totally worth playing. Before playing this game you should reflect on two things:
(1) What happens when a jet liner hits a large office tower?
(2) What happens when 200,000 tons of Structural steel in a 300 meter office tower collapses?
Compare your understanding for what happens in reality with what we were told happened on September 11 2001. If you notice a discrepancy you may be qualified to play the real game of life.
To play make your way to the nearest possible Freemasonic lodge and begin your application.
Talk to you again when you pass level 20 of the sacred order.
