I like this DLC. It allows you to play one of 5 American Indian faction. Gameplay is a bit different than in the main campaign and is especially satisfying at a higher level of difficulty. Although the gameplay itself is shorter, because it takes place on a smaller territory it provides hours of good entertainment.

This DLC is worth it. It not that easy you think. You have to think like a Indian. When you have a large armies and the enemies (United States) have a small armies. You will lose if you have not good plan. You will win if you have a better plan.
Beside, I keep losing everytime when i battle with United States/Great Britain/Spain/France.

A fun small game. It shows a different perspective of the world of Empire with Indians. This game is fun to play, and is challenging. The Indians AI is strange, to be honest. I won't lie saying that this game is worth 10$ neither, but if you're able to get your hands on it for 2-3 dollars, it's worth it.

This campaign is the only reason why I bought Empire TW, just as I only bought Medieval 2 TW for the Americas campain in the Kingdoms expansion. Talking of which, the warpath campain is like taking units from Medieval 2 or Rome and pitting them against Empire units.

This campain needs paitence as both the game, walkthroughs and reviews all explain that the native forces are weaker than colonial and perhaps a little underpowered. Indeed, I wish that the native American factions had a pre-release buff because they have some quite jarring problems:

Firstly while I appreciate a new tech tree, much of the technologies given had already been discovered years ago in native American history (e.g. winter clothes). Not only that but it seems as though some techs aren't included in custom battles, for example there is a tech that improves all unit morale and another that allows firing while hidden, while the latter may be a little overpowered the former technology is vital in custom/multiplayer battles. I would have liked to have seen multi-round weapons in the late game as the so-called 'Indian wars' did go on further than the time given, this is more of wishful thinking on my part than an actual problem, and is actually fine without this.

Secondly the morale of the native units are terrible. These are men who are meant to be defending their land and families, warriors who a zealous and do not fear death for the sake of their people, so to see them turn tail and run just breaks immersion. I can see where they are coming from, the units in the Americas campain in Medieval 2 had huge amounts of morale, but at the same time the European units had reasonable morale in the Americas campaign as well, I guess they didn't want the player to swarm their enemies like in the M2TW Americas campaign. Even so, morale is still too low for the native factions and if you wanted to be the tribe who fought to the last for their survivial then sorry, but you can't.

The third problem I have is with the melee units in this campaign, while ranged native units can remain hidden while moving melee units can not which is a bit bad considering that it is the melee units who need it the most (note that I was so annoyed with this I edited the in game files). Most melee units are also outmatched or are just held up by simple line infantry, in any game that is dominated with firearms one should be rewarded for closing the distance enough to get into close combat, especially with factions that have a large amount of melee units. There are good melee units, but you need to progress down the tech tree to get them, and as I said in my first point, the natives already have the techs/policies on the tech tree including warrior societies.

My final major negative point is the campaign map gameplay, I still find it strange how you need to 'buy' warriors when warriors fight for the state/people, soldiers are paid because soldiering is a profession, warriors are not because it's a social duty. That said they are not too expensive and actually it is ranged units that cost large amounts, but even so I found myself in dire straights where I was bankrupt and really my people should be fighting and working for free as it's a matter of survival. In history, the native's main strength was their fieldcraft, so I was suprised when the campaign had no real gameplay mechanics based on this, for example European armies move just as fast as native American armies, meaning you can't use speed/stealth to counter the force of European powers. Strangly there was no option to play the Inuit nations or the Mayans in the Caste war which wouldn't of hurt to add.

It may look as though I dislike the campaign but I really like it, as I said in the beginnig it's the only reason I bought Empire TW. It offers a challeging campaign from a point of view not often explored in games, and it's also enjoyable to play as the underdogs. Plus, one can create some really funny alternative universes, like the Wendat, Plains and Cherokee jointly controlling the entirety of the America (both north and south) with the colonial powers cowering on the Carrabian islands. I am sorry that the negatives were louder than the positives in this, and while I do get annoyed with it from time to time, it offers a different play style for those sick of the Empire's constant line fire.

Why does the war path campaign not have any navy for native americans? Makes harder to move troops and take battle to Carribean, also its true that native americans didnt have navy in real life, also wound eventually learn how to make european navy ships if wanted a navy. All countrys have Navy even Martha Confedence, Mugual Empire even have navy in Empire total war,why not Native Americans???

It is nearly suicide that fight with europeans face to face when no player outnumbered them at least in double. Thus, skirmish and guerilla tactics are main method for battle against europeans.
-Bacis instinct of humankind : Maybe some people imagine that natives in unity drive up the europeans from their homeland, when noticed about this DLC's annoucement. (I had also.) But in real? You surely concering about conflicts between natives, rather than interest on unite of natives. - A campaign have a tension from combination of military and diplomatic features.
-Unacceptable trait of some buildings : Player, for expanding of his income, must constructe the rumbermill which make neighbouring people converted to Protestantism. Soon, it make bring religious unrest in a region. Such situation happened by some more buildings, and when it's constructed.
-Factions have almost same units : Personally, I expected various composition of unit which indicate each faction's characteristic. Disappointly, It would not. They have same units when compared with each other, but just only few units.
-Insular areas are inaccessible : Native factions have no boats and ships, even include fishing ship.

This is a review for the warpath campagin for empire total war

this is one i can't recommend, yes the campaign is unique but the effects do not carry over to the other campagins so they fill in the map of the americas map but only in this campagin. the campagin however is pretty challenging especally the publo one, its just not worth the $10.00, it does add units but none that are very intresting.

HOWEVER, this dlc includes the most overpowered, logic defining ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t unit obajoba warriors that will ruin mutliplayer battles

You finally get to play as the Native American factions! This campaign is so much fun! Changing the course of history on this side I will admit is pretty difficult but it feels soooo good running the whites out of your lands! Only draw back is that it's only the American continent...if only you could have the option to build boats and just mayyyyybe go over to Europe. But then again that would be very historically inaccurate and against what the Native Americans were about. I highly suggest this DLC for Empire without a doubt!

This is going to be a serious review as i genuinly love what this DLC has to offer (whilst the other DLC was more of a completionist thing). The campaign plays out very differnetly to that of the main campaign; i realised this upon my first battle with the Spanish, what would have been a normal advance, fire, fix bayonet then 'CHARGE!' turns into a massacre of my men who only win by weight of numbers alone.

Guerrilla tactics and weight of numbers are your ally here, whilst they are strong in combat, they lack any great over powered forces at range, meaning it can become a killing ground if you're not careful with unit control.

If you're like me, you will play the game to try and help the Native Americans get some revenge upon their oppressors in history; it's a fun bit of DLC, though its a damn hard campaign.

3/4 of the music is recycled from Medieval 2 Americas campaign, the AI is horriby optimised for fighting against Native Americans (In that they run back and forth between two points and exhaust themselves forever because they don't know what to do) and there is little to no voice acting (They just say "WARRIORS" and "FIGHT TO THE LAST". Regardless of what unit it is)

The natives are not overpowered as they are in the standard campaign. Because of this you really have to use weight of numbers and guerrilla tactics. Very good DLC.

This DLC adds a very different sort of gameplay. In the beginning the natives are not really friendly to eachother, but later in the game they are all you got. All you got to do is survive because of the difference in warfare with the Western faction. The lack of the European and Indian map here is no con for me, because you will mostly never be able to conquer the world with the native factions. I enjoy this actually more then the normal game, which i have played too many times

This campaign is Pathetic. I am a long-time fan of total war games and this is by far the worst, most badly made campaign or mod I've ever played. The native tribes have even less technology and ability than the original Empire which takes place about 80 years prior in terms of history. It doesn't make any sense and I'm really disappointed I spent $5 on this terrible game experience.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say how disappointed I am with this campaign. Balance issues be damned, 200+ tribesman charging a line of militia, MILITIA, who have nothing but musket butts to use in close combat should NOT result in the superior force retreating. Frankly, i'm disgusted that CA, known for their loyalty to historical accuracy, would treat the Native Americans in this way. Here is a force that was FEARED for their sheer will in combat that is now treated like a horde of children, turning and running having suffered so few casualties.

This isn't a balance issue - although god knows CA ♥♥♥♥s that part of their games up quite liberally - rather, it's an utter betrayal of history. I think Ca showed their true colors with their treatment of native forces here, and it's utterly ♥♥♥♥ing disgusting. Wouldn't be surprised if they released a "Trail of Tears" DLC next where you can just skip the pretense and slaughter these people, ♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥♥.

While the game does feel a tad...disappointing, it's still worth getting as you learn how to use units in a different way. Most people here complain because they're far too used to the line-and-fire method generally used by thenormal factions in Empire: Total War. The problem with that is, you can't attack these heavily armed soldiers head on. This should be painfully obvious. You have to flank and sneak around. Imitate what the Native Americans did during this time period. The campaign has plenty of content and, although it seems to be lacking something that I can't quite put my finger on, it's well worth the fun and investment in getting.

Its a great DLC, especially on the hardest level.

It requires real tactical gameplay, which is why there are so many poor reviews. Unfortunately, too many people enjoy playing on easy and steamrolling through the game.

The natives are not overpowered as they are in the standard campaign. Because of this you really have to use weight of numbers and guerrilla tactics. Very good DLC.

Well I saw some negative reviews on this game so I will give my review. I like this game. As a student of history and fan of Allen W. Eckert's books I liked this game. You are weaker than the European powers which is accurate. You need to use new tactics (think like an indian). I could tell you but I found it fun to figure them out on my own. I have won with every tribe. I even lost with Peublo because I ran out of time. I enjoy the chance of losing.

CONS.
-Indians speak english like Tonto from Lone Ranger.
-Some details seem to be missing, there are more graphics for the popups in Empire vanilla than in the warpath campaing.
-Tech tree is not really interesting, and biased (ie, based on western prejudices more than in real native american mythology).
-The music feels halfmade, and gets very repetitive quickly.

PROS.
-Many different playable nations.
-Great graphical detail.
-You can kick the crackers off Turtle Island!

The Warpath Campaign. Some love it, others hate it. I personally highly recommend picking it up. It is a decent game and will provide you with tons of fun, provided you don't take it too seriously. It has a lot of faults, incuding random freeze-ups, lag, and an overall bad AI. But the Warpath campaign is not like the grand campaign. In the grand campaign, yuo could dominate the battlefield with a few untis of line-infantry and a couple of cavalry units. But in this campaign, there is none of that. Basically, all you've got are clubs and bows against muskets, cannons, and bayonets.
This handicap is what makes it so fun. You actually need to think out your strategy and use every advantage you have, because if you just charge forward with your infantry, you'll get gunned down and slaughtered to a man. You are forced to use guerilla tactics and make the most of your units.
As such, this DLC is highly worth it in my opinion, despite its numerous faults and defects. As long as you are relaxed and do not take it too seriously, this is the game for you.

This is a nice little expansion to a good game ..
It adds a few new troops to control for each tribe, as others have said this requires new thinking and advanced strategy both on the map screen and on the battlefield.
I personally enjoyed it and if you own empire and like the idea of a seperate campaign with the native factions i would get it .

I wish you could play as spain or the usa or even england it would really make the gameplay better but overall its very cool learning how toi change stratagy on how to kill men with muskets with men with tomahawks
