The special edition of Animus Non Grata is finally available here on Steam! Game saves are incompatible with the new version, meaning, a fresh save file is needed. If you wish to continue your adventure from an old save, the you need to use the "old twine version", which is bundled inside of the ANG-SE package. You can access it using the "Old Version (link)" in the game's main menu.

As always, let me know if there's bugs and typos! This is a complete re-write of the entire game, with dialogue and text modified to reflect the story-telling style delivered by Renpy.

- Special Edition is a Renpy remastered version of the game, written from scratch.
- Special Edition does not include Spanish translation
- Old 'Twine' version is still available in the game's installation folder. You can find it by pressing "Old Version (link)" in the main menu

1. Added Generation Word settings – Players can preset a Generation Word for their family. When a new member is born, their randomly generated name will automatically include the chosen Generation Word. Click the family portrait in the top-left corner to open the family panel and set it. (To allow players to add and apply new Generation Words at any time, a cyclical system was not used.)

 

2. Added ratio settings for farmer types in the estate’s farmlands. Incoming farmers will now be automatically distributed according to the set ratios.

 

3. Added one-click fertilization for all farmland plots.

 

4. When assigning retainers to Private Tutors, Private Schools, Training Grounds, Theaters, or Residences, players can now sort and filter by attributes.

 

5. Family Retainer Panel now supports name search and attribute-based sorting/filtering.

 

6. Added “Petition for Imperial Marriage” (for non-imperial clans). You may plead with the Emperor to issue a decree for your clan to marry into a chosen noble house.

 

7. Added “Imperial Marriage Decree” (for imperial clans). You may command a marriage between any two noble houses, including your own.

 

8. New birth mechanics – New family members may now be born as twins or mixed-gender twins.

 

9. New event – If your clan monopolizes officialdom, there is now a chance of suppression from the royal family.

 

10. New event – Clan officials may now be dismissed by the Civil Minister if relations are poor.

 

11. New event – Clan officials may now be audited and impeached by the Revenue Minister if relations are poor.

 

12. New event – Clan titles may now be revoked by the Rites Minister if relations are poor.

 

13. Safety alerts – If the estate’s security value drops too low, increasing the risk of theft, the value will be highlighted in red. Other low values will also trigger alerts.

 

14. Loading screen – Added new game tips and guidance messages.

 

15.Fixed bug where the same city could appear multiple times when dispatching soldiers, causing duplicate deployments and negative garrison numbers.

 

16. Fixed bug where purchasing two estates consecutively without reloading could cause both estates to share the same entrance on the map.

 

17. Fixed bug where incorrect text was displayed when recommending an official to the Emperor.

 

18. Fixed bug where battle reports could occasionally display incorrectly and cause the game to freeze.

Massive Update – Our Biggest In 6 Months Of Work!

• After six months of development, this is the largest update yet. 

• The main character’s move set has been extensively overhauled for tighter control, fresher combos, and smoother flow.

• A brand‑new Tutorial section is now available right inside the Pause Menu so you can review mechanics and advanced tips anytime.

• Enemies have been reworked across the board—many bosses have been rebuilt or carefully tuned for fairer challenge and clearer attack readability.

• A new upgrade system debuts with deeper build choices and long‑term progression. (Because of the internal changes, old save files are unfortunately no longer compatible—truly sorry for the inconvenience.)

• Multiple stages have been redesigned or refined to improve pacing, exploration, and visual clarity.

• The UI has been refreshed for cleaner navigation and faster access to key information.

Hope all of you are peeling good.

After considering how some players are struggling at certain stages, I've adjusted the HP drop values of certain enemy types.

The biggest changes affected these mobsters. They now have a 100% hp drop chance when you are under 5 health.

1. Fries Boss
   Drops 20% HP when player is above 5HP

2. Baked Potato BossRemoved higher percentage drop on Hard Mode. Now has a 50% drop chance above 4HP regardless of difficulty.

3. Mashed Potato
   Removed 100% drop on Hard Mode. Now has a 50% drop chance above 4HP regardless of difficulty.

This was a difficult one. Within 2 weeks I've added these features:

• A pause screen

• Keyboard layout screen

• Controller calibration screen

• Handling for out-of-focus (mainly due to sticky keys)

• An updated tutorial stage

And they have been continuously improved. However, due to the limited manpower I have, testing by myself is a HUGE pain. You guys have thrown so many weird situations at me like alt-tabbing during a stage transition, opening another pause menu on top of a pause menu etc.

I've since rewritten the pause code to be more robust. Hopefully this fixes all the problems but if there are more, I'm confident this patch will make it much easier to fix future bugs.
