Two Point Hospital

Developer Two Point Studios' wonderful medical management sim Two Point Hospital is getting in on Sonic's 30th anniversary celebrations with a free selection of costumes and items for all platforms inspired by the hedgehog's video game adventures.

The snappily titled Sonic the Hedgehog Pack is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and Steam as part of Two Point Hospital's latest update, bringing a total of four outfits for hospital staff to wear - based on Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles - as well as various theme-appropriate decorations. There's a massive Sonic statue, for instance, plus the likes of Sonic rugs and posters, stylised sunflowers and palm trees, totem poles, and even a big ol' spinning gold ring.

Sonic's Two Point Hospital intrusion comes as the management sim enjoys a variety of heavy discounts and promotional events across different platforms. There's a free trial on Switch until 8th August for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in certain countries - as well as 30% off the game and all DLC - and it's currently free to play for all Steam users until 2nd August. Discounts there include 75% off the base game and up to 50% off all DLC until 5th August.

Two Point Hospital

Comedic medical management sim Two Point Hospital is adding ailments from across the ages in its latest paid expansion, A Stitch in Time, which comes to PC today, 23rd February.

A Stitch in Time is Two Point Hospital's sixth major expansion - following on from Bigfoot, Pebberley Island, Close Encounters, Off the Grid, and Culture Shock - and gives time-travelling medical masterminds a chance to try their hand at hospital management across three distinct periods: the prehistoric era, the medieval era, and a far-flung sci-fi future.

As with previous expansions, A Stitch in Time's focus is on offering fans more of the base game's enjoyable core management action, gently tweaking the existing formula, rather than delivering any major mechanical shake-ups. To that end, it adds three new hospitals to expand and improve, new challenges, new music and tannoy lines, new era-themed decorations, plus 34 new ailments, including Bone Head, Jester Infection, and Reptile Dysfunction.

Developer Two Point Studios' comedic medical management sim Two Point Hospital is getting a bit of an entertainment-themed makeover as part of its newly announced Culture Shock DLC expansion, which comes to Steam on 20th October.

"Two Point County is having an artistic crisis," explains the developer of its fifth Two Point Hospital expansion. "Fortunately, you're on hand to answer the call of artist-in-residence Zara Fitzpocket, chief guardian of all things arty and the county's very own culture vulture, as she seeks to resuscitate the music scene, the silver screen, and all artwork in between".

To that end, Culture Shock introduces three new specially themed hospital maps for purchasers to work their medical magic on: Plywood Studios, where players will "look to launch a hit medical drama with washed-up film star Roderick Cushion", outdoor music event Mudbury festival, and, lastly, the extravagant, VIP-centric Fitzpocket Academy.

Reception has also "been pimped, haunted house style", there's spooky bed-pans in the Nurse Station, and "pretty much every picture of a dog now has a rather unusual element to it..."

Two Point Hospital

The console versions of Two Point Hospital have been delayed to the first half of 2020. They were due out late 2019.

Why the delay? "Put simply: making a management simulation game on three consoles (and making it the best it possibly can be on all three), is a tricky programming puzzle," explained developer Two Point Studios in a blog post.

"We have to take the game apart and figure out how to fit it into what is essentially a smaller box.

Two Point Hospital

Two Point Studios' wonderful medical management sim, Two Point Hospital, is free to try this weekend on Steam, marking the arrival of its new alien-themed DLC, Close Encounters.

For those eager to slip on their stethoscope and take Two Point Hospital's wellness action for a spin, no money required, the Steam Free Weekend is underway right now, and will continue until Monday, 2nd September.

It's definitely worth giving it a go too, if you haven't already. Two Point Hospital is a delightful experience, perfectly capturing - and expanding upon - the compulsive management tinkering and knockabout silliness of its obvious inspiration, Theme Hospital, which isn't too much of a surprise given that Two Point Studios co-founders Gary Carr and Mark Webley both worked on Theme Hospital while at legendary British developer Bullfrog.
